*Found this through a TH-cam video **enjoyable.fishing** recommend does exactly what its meant to do. Very durable and no hang-ups at all surprisingly*
Great to find a local channel with info I can use on my home lake. Looking to get a new baitcaster reel soon and after seeing another happy bb1 user I might have to try that over the shimano I was going to get.
@@brnowak_fishing you're definitely welcome! Any time I can help support someone local in our sport I will. Thanks for the info on the reel, cant wait to get my hands on one.
Great video Ben. Love these lure / bait videos. Now we need to see you in action fishing them. Can't wait to get on the water. Our lakes are opening up. So it won't be long now.
Thanks. I like it when you show the gear, up close and personal. I had a bass eat my hair jig last spring. As I was reeling it in, his huge female pal came swimming along behind him wonder-in what was going on. Lol
I’d throw around a Ned or Neko rig and fish it super slowly. Or just fish smaller profile baits in general, finesse jigs, etc. or, go the exact opposite direction and throw bigger baits that look more realistic - swimbaits, big lipless, etc
I don’t remember the company who made the one I showed in this video, but OutKast Tackle makes some good ones and they’re available on Tackle Warehouse too
This really looks like what I'd be going for start of the season to mid season up here. One thing to point out on the DT10s, they may be silent but the vibration coming out of them is REALLY what makes them killer. Tight but quick vibration. The hair jig is something I've never done and I feel like a total noob for not doing it. Guess I'll have to invest some more and get some before season starts! Tight lines to you Ben and 'till next time bud!
Yeah, I started fishing them last spring and just accumulated a few baits I really like. They are ultra time of year specific for most of their stuff though...everything feels very very dialed in for specific situations
Hey man, when do you reccomend getting out there? What would you consider prespwan, spawn, postspawn months for mich? I consider myself a really novice angler, and I have the means to finally get out on st.clair. my goal is to catch a st.clair smallmouth and any info I could get would be great. Thanks for this video!
Hey Dom - late April/prespawn is probably the best time. There will be hundreds of boats out there, but you can catch a ton of fish as well as a bunch of numbers! You also don’t typically have to go too far from shore
Not a dumb question at all - sometimes smallmouth and largemouth will eat the same baits, but there are some baits I take out of my boat when I’m solely smallmouth fishing - 10” works, big plastics, etc. smallmouth will probably eat that too, but it’s a mental thing!
I try to fish it as slowly as I possibly can while stills getting bottom contact -so I’ll make 5-10 fast cranks to get it to dive down, and then just slow down my retrieve as long as I can feel it hitting
Great Tips... why a 1/4oz on a ned but 1/2 oz on a tube to get on the bottom? Thanks for the info! And by the way, tell your friend ballzz to go back with real content fishing like yours and respecting more the Bass by not putting them in a pool...🤦🏻♂️ Your doing a great job dude and sorry for the bad english im from Montréal and if you ever want to Come down to fish this summer to do some vidéos and fish the St Laurence for nice smally you are more than welcome! ;)
Thank you so much! Because of the amount of plastic and slimmer profiles a ned Head, it falls faster and you can keep it on the bottom/feel bottom more easily. For the tube, I use a heavier weight to get a similar amount of feel when fishing the bait on the bottom
nice video youngman!..but,i gotta say, this whole "they choked it"expression is REALLY sounding ebonics like!..i mean,"they choked on it"sounds a whole lot more educated..sorry to nit pick, just saying!

Tubes all day this time of year, honestly all you need.
Shawn Dusaj that is true :-)
Very informative dude. Keep killing it!
Thank you man!
Perfect timing! Cant wait for my annual LSC trip!
Heck yeah! I hope you crush them
We did. Avg fish was 4lbs. Biggest was 5lb
Great to find a local channel with info I can use on my home lake. Looking to get a new baitcaster reel soon and after seeing another happy bb1 user I might have to try that over the shimano I was going to get.
Thanks Dan! The BB1 Pro is awesome for baits you want to sling a long distance - it’s an awesome reel. Thanks for the support man!
@@brnowak_fishing you're definitely welcome! Any time I can help support someone local in our sport I will. Thanks for the info on the reel, cant wait to get my hands on one.
This time of year=best tips from my man, Ben!
DC Bronzies heck yes! Thanks my man!
I fish Lake St. Clair all the time! Thanks for the video!
Nehemiah Paul absolutely!!!
Thank you...! Finally. Great list for us boatless guys too... Def subscribed
Thank you so much Paul!!!
Paul S. Use a kayak
Been out twice this year already. It’s tough catching those cold water fish. Going to give these baits a try.
Great video Ben. Love these lure / bait videos. Now we need to see you in action fishing them. Can't wait to get on the water. Our lakes are opening up. So it won't be long now.
Thanks Nick! I’m so glad we’ve got open water again! It feels amazing to be fishing!
Such a great list dude!!
Thanks my dude!
Hey Ben great tips hope you're slaying them out on the water! I love my Rapala DT'S the silent killer!
Thank you man!!! Yes, the DTS are awesome
Thanks. I like it when you show the gear, up close and personal. I had a bass eat my hair jig last spring. As I was reeling it in, his huge female pal came swimming along behind him wonder-in what was going on. Lol
Haha that’s funny! I bet you wish you had another bait you could drop in and catch the giant female too!
Awesome video! Any Suggestions for pressured large mouth? I fish a lot of smaller lakes that get hammered
I’d throw around a Ned or Neko rig and fish it super slowly. Or just fish smaller profile baits in general, finesse jigs, etc. or, go the exact opposite direction and throw bigger baits that look more realistic - swimbaits, big lipless, etc
nice video, what size boat are you using?
I live about 2 hours from LSC, when are we going fishing?
Great video. Thanks
Great video i cannot wait to get out to St.Clair
Jose Martinez yessir! You’ve gotta get out soon - it’s about to go off out there
What rod do you throw the hair jig on, great info.
Awesome video's... Keep it up Ben! God bless!
Thanks Boe!
Great video ben, do you have some hair jig suggestions? Like maybe someone who makes them
I don’t remember the company who made the one I showed in this video, but OutKast Tackle makes some good ones and they’re available on Tackle Warehouse too
Benjamin Nowak , thanks Ben, I will look around. OutKast is a little pricey to me .
This really looks like what I'd be going for start of the season to mid season up here. Yes - compared to a lot of standard body cranks, the DTS have a tight wobble - super super good point that I forgot to talk about
What brand hair jig was that? It looked well made? The rapala one is horrible...
I don’t recall the name - but it was a small company on Instagram that I bought them from a few years ago. OutKast Tackle also makes a great one
What treble is that on the back of the dt10? I’ve never seen a hook like that before
I think it’s called a Sure-set treble. It used to come factory with a lot of their baits. I really need to change out the hooks
Thk u sir l v the crank bait tips
What line do you use for the hair jig??
Jerome Torrez I use the same setup as I would a spybait - 10lb braid to 5lb fluoro
Seems to be more Realis baits in your arsenal than previously, Ben. Are you just checking them out, or maybe working with them?
Yeah, I started fishing them last spring and just accumulated a few baits I really like. They are ultra time of year specific for most of their stuff though...everything feels very very dialed in for specific situations
@@brnowak_fishing looking forward to some big smallies on Realis spybaits from you later this year
Ian Kehler yessir! I caught a few on it last July/August but I think there’s a lot of power to that bait that people don’t realize
Hey man, when do you reccomend getting out there? What would you consider prespwan, spawn, postspawn months for mich?
I consider myself a really novice angler, and I have the means to finally get out on st.clair. my goal is to catch a st.clair smallmouth and any info I could get would be great.

Hey Dom - late April/prespawn is probably the best time. There will be hundreds of boats out there, but you can catch a ton of fish as well as a bunch of numbers! You also don’t typically have to go too far from shore
What color is that curve 55? That would be amazing here in idaho
That color is the Ghost Melon Craw
Do you change the hooks on your new baits? Dumb question do small mouth and big mouth bass go after the same baits? I fish here in central Fl.
Not a dumb question at all - sometimes smallmouth and largemouth will eat the same baits, but there are some baits I take out of my boat when I’m solely smallmouth fishing - 10” works, big plastics, etc. smallmouth will probably eat that too, but it’s a mental thing!
Benjamin will you be doing a trout video this year!?!
No sir - pretty much only bass
I'll try to make it up this summer and do some largemouth fishing in the milfoil up on ole LSC.Catch you down?
Heck yeah
Ben, where can we sign up for the monsterbass box?
Hey! Thanks for asking - you can go to www.monsterbass.com and use code “INSTA10” to save $10 on your first order!
Thanks
Can you show us how to tie on a leader?
Good video idea!
Now I gotta go get Hair jigs! Lol
That was my thought too. I normally only fish them for two weeks around the spawn and Mayfly hatch, but evidently I need to be fishing them more too
What color’s do you find are the best?
Doug Shaffer black black black...unless you’re around the mayfly hatch, then brown
I'll be honest when I was a co I didn't care if my boater liked it or not I brought the arig. lol
Suspending jerkbait is my spring bait of choice in lsc...caught a 3.5lb smallie that had to be 20 yrs old on a purple and cream xps sus jerkbait
A jerkbait flat out catches them out there!
Do ya just burn the rapala or what?
I try to fish it as slowly as I possibly can while stills getting bottom contact -so I’ll make 5-10 fast cranks to get it to dive down, and then just slow down my retrieve as long as I can feel it hitting
Awesome great vid and make a patreon so I can support your channel
Thank you man. I’m planning to launch mine soon - I’ve just gotta take the time and really set it up

Tubes will always catch fish no matter time of year.
But jerkbaits will catch them faster when they school up.
