THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO DO!
I am in my final year of nursing school and I am drawn to working in the OR. But I have been aching to go on a mission trip for the last few years, especially one that involves providing medical care to those in need while spreading the Gospel. I hope that one day I will be able to partake in mercy ships :)

    😭😭 yessss
I’m going to the Philippines with nursing beyond borders for a month. I’m praying that God leads me. I heard about mercy ships in high school and my heart was filled with that hope and joy that I’ve never felt before. I only have 1 year of nursing experience so far but I’m praying God makes a way in His timing. Thanks for this video 💕

I have been a nurse for more than thirty years and every single patient continues to be a privilege and honor to care for. I am an NP now and my entire career I’ve wanted to give my God given talents away in the mission field and well God continues to remind me my mission field is right we’re I work. Whatever we do with our God given capacity to care we must focus first on asking God for the patience, empathy, compassion andHoly Spirit filled heart to pour out on every patient to glorify Him. What a blessing and gift to be a nurse. The thought of caring for people often in the most vulnerable moments of their lives and what an honor that is is the mission. Yes, it would be exciting to be called to serve and hope that when praying for opportunity pray not for the location but to be lead to the area of greatest need and that might very well be right we’re you work or within the borders of your own country. He will lead us perfectly and align our time and talents with what is best for us and our patients. For those aspiring to become a nurse, it is the most gratifying, challenging, exhausting and intimate career that requires giving every day. Pray to keep your “ giving cup” full. Amen

Thank you for this video. OMG my heart is overflowing after watching this. I don't want to leave an extra long message. But I needed to hear everything you just said. I relate to so many things you talked about. It's amazing that God lead me to watch your videos at this time. I've been listening for God and asking Him for guidance in certain areas. Your video was my confirmation. Thank you for sharing your story and using your life to bless others. You've truly blessed me.

I thank you so much for this video. I have been so scared that this calling I felt wasn't a "calling" but this encouragement has reassured me that this is definetly what He has for me! Thank you so much again!

Right now I'm working on a skilled nursing unit at a nursing home facility ... I don't think God wants me to travel at the moment, but to just be content where I am and take care of the people in front of me.
I'm also finishing my BSN, so once that's finished and I get my diploma in the mail... We'll see where GOd leads me next... Thank you for sharing... Please keep making videos and sharing about your experiences and how God has been faithful in your life
    God bless you

Out of nowhere this sparked in me, i always ask God to show me the way to hold my hand and take me where I need to be. I am a CNA and this has came up in my head several times but today it was stronger that jst thinking about it makes me feel joy and even feel like crying but bcuz im jst so grateful.. idk how to explain it.. i have gone through so many bumps that it has made me question if nursing is the right path for me even quit at some point but I keep getting drawn to nursing i jst know this is what i want to do! Thank you soo much i feel warm listening to you! ❤️❤️

I've always wanted to help on a medical missions trip, but I don't have experience in the operating room or in acute care. Do they allow non-acute care nurses to volunteer with mercy ships?

This is my very thoughts!!!!! Wow you summed up this feeling wonderfully. I haven't began nursing school yet but do you have any recommendations about what to specialize in? By doing missionary work I'm not sure what is the most useful skills? Thanks for the wonderful advice.

Hi, I'm a nurse from the Philippines working in a missions hospital. I had a desire to go medical missions when I was in high school. Right now I'm considering going to med school, at the same time continue the medical missions. How do I know if a change of career is where He is leading me? Thank you.

I know that this is what God has for me. I currently went to Africa and I saw the need there for all things including medical care. What organizations would you recommend for a student that is getting ready to take her NCLEX and wants to pursue missionary nursing. Thank you. Blessings.

Thanks for the comment and question! My only experience with missionary nursing has been with Mercy Ships and through my church. I would suggest looking into your local church's mission trips and see whether they offer medical missions opportunities. From those short term trips, I was able to network and find more organizations that partner with churches. I know Mercy Ships also has a close relationship with Youth with a Mission (YWAM)-- I would suggest checking out their website. And while I was serving with Mercy Ships, many of my fellow crew mates had been involved with Doctors without Borders and Operation Smile in the past. Both are great organizations! I hope this is a good start! Thanks and God bless!
