Well, her motive is, admittedly original, but it's not very good, and her machine takes so long to warm up that Banjo is able to conquer her entire castle, clean out nine different worlds, collect 100 jiggies and 900 notes before she is able to use it. But the fights against her are AWESOME!
Sigma is an annoying antagonist because he is constantly being defeated and then constantly being "rebuilt". This exists just to have kept the X series going, but it's built up quite a lot of hate from many a gamer. Andross, on the other hand, is rather unoriginal. His personality is bland, his appearance has been done and, in Star Fox Adventures, he really feels like he was just thrown in at the end to be the final boss, as he had little to no role in the main plot.
Fair enough, except that the Joker is NOT a video game villain, he is a comic book villain. Yes, he's appeared in games, but he is a comic book character.
Must admit I enjoyed this, you explained yourself very well, I have to agree Team plasma do make pretty awesome villians :) also your teddy collection is epic :D
also DDD has one thing going for him. in the first game he took ALL THE WORLDS FOOD. think about it. He effectively deprived every living being on the planet of a necessity. that's pretty damn impressive since if kirby didn't stop him everyone would have starved to death in a few months. maybe longer if they managed to eat animals but they would starve to death aswell from a lack of food. also the waddle dee's are adorable. But your points for him are completely valid.
Hands down, Ghirahim would win in a fight. Kefka may have more abilities than Ghirahim and is probably a better tactician than him, but Ghirahim is ultimately more skilled in combat and I think he can also take more abuse than Kefka. If Link's sword catches Ghirahim's hand at full power, it doesn't even faze him, but Kefka will get hurt by every attack unless it misses completely. Whoa, I need to slow down. I should leave this type of thing to Wiz and Boomstick.
The joker is a comic book villain, not a video game villain. Yes, he's appeared in games, but he started as a comic book villain and that's the way he'll stay.
Firstly, why would Ridley speak? He's not a human being. Second, I consider Dahlia Hawthorne to be more of a femme fatale than a villain. Thirdly, Pokemon is an extremely popular series, and you should be used to all the hype by now. Fourth and last, it's my opinion and no one else's.
1. Not at all. I knew it would be a bit controversial. 2. Of course. 3. I have watched greenscorpion64. 4. Either the Squeaks or Magolor. 5. Well. let me put it this way. Alder and Red are fought after the staff roll and "The End" screen, therefore they're not actually part of the main storyline. At least, that's how I see it.
I understand your reasoning, and agree with the design of his final form. Now, let me explain why I think he's a good villain. Note I'm not going to overrate him. He's created to be a living killing machine for human benefit. Enraged by this, he decides to live the only natural life that he feels should've been given to him in the first place: Following Jenova's dream of taking Gaia away from humans who CONSTANTLY abuse the planet and using it as a vessel to Journey the cosmos as a God.
Well, how the hell would I know? Neither the original Japan-exclusive title nor the DS remake have voice acting, so how would I know how to pronounce his name?
Ridley is actually capable of speech (or telepathy), atleast according to the comics and mangas (though if fairness, their canonisity to the games I can't speak for) even then, chances are much like samus, he doesn't like to talk durring combat, or the game creators didn't want to ruin his terrifying image by giving him a voice, like how Jason Voorhies never talks.
Although your arguements for dedede are valid, I find it hard to consider him a villian at all. Dedede is more of a rival character, and has even done some good deeds, even if it dosn't seem that way at first. a good example of this was in nightmare in dreamland, where he broke the star rod to keep Nightmare from giving people, nightmares. To summarise, Dedede is not a villan, he's just an asshole.
You say he's an anti-hero and that you like him. Good. I say he's a villain, and that I hate him. Good. The official Kirby wiki labels him as a villain, which is why I thought I wouldn't get such a negative response towards putting him on this list.
Nice countdown but I don't consider Dedede a villain. He's more of a rival, like most people have stated. Frankly, I don't mind the fact that he helps Kirby on various occasions. Not really something to complain about. It shows he can at least set differences aside to help his longest rival. Simply put. Dedede's not really a bad guy (I agree he doesn't do well as one). He's more of a bully who feels he can do what he likes. Even in changing his roles.
You misheard, he sayz bowser teams up with Mario to fight a greater evil, and I do see your point on King Dedede, but I think that makes him more of an Anti-Hero. After all, he isn't a villain in most Kirby games.
hey flipper, sorry to inconvenience you like this, but what is song used in your honorable mentions in your top 5 best and worst villains? I recognize it so much and its bugging me on how i can't remember where its from.
Altough you go with team plasma, i go for team galactic (gen 4). Their goals were much more threatening and its leader was also much better. The only thing i like about team plasma is the character N, like everyone else on the planet
Well, according to the official Kirby Wiki, "King Dedede is a major recurring antagonist to Kirby in Nintendo and HAL Labs' long-running Kirby video game series." Also, it's my opinion that he is a villain, and a lousy one at that.
I kinda disagree with Nr.1 but meh, I honestly prefer Team Galactic over Team Plasma for some reasons. 1) Their leader, Cyrus, was amazing. His almost philosophical talk was very interesting and it really made you sit there and question some things. His nihilistic personality wasn't anything spectacular but what I really appreciated about him was his incredible ambition. He used Team Galactic only for his purpose, rendering them useless later, took the risk of summoning Legendary Pokemon that could potentially kill him and destroy the world and was willing to fight both Giratina and the player, all for accomplishing his dream. 2) Their ideals and goals were very ambitious and interesting. They wanted to recreate the world as they see fit! And it wasn't any wild goose chase or a fool's errand; they actually came close to succeding in their endeavours. 3) I liked the Grunts and their dialogue. For non-plot relevant characters they had some good dialogue (I also loved the chase of the Grunt in Pastoria City). Also the Commanders were pretty interesting, and Charon. The freaking guy takes on Cyrus's legacy even after everything seems lost. I gotta say that's pretty impressive for a guy that was "the junior commander".
Yes. I caught this as well. I originally had a subtitle saying this but, for whatever reason, it was deleted when I rendered the video, and I didn't see it was missing until it was uploaded.
Meh. I honestly really liked Dedede. He's supposed to be more of a comic villain, while the real villains are great evils. I definitely liked Team Plasma, though.
Yes, some of my videos are about negative subjects. However, the videos that happen to be about negative subjects are also my earliest projects. Everyone knows that people get better with practice, and I've had quite a lot since then. Every countdown I've made since mid-January, with the exception of Top Ten Worst Endings, have been at least partially positive. So, if you're going to judge me not just by my worst work, but also my earliest work, then it is you who is the whiner.
Hey! This was a great video. Just a few nitpicks... 1. When you were announcing a boss, you would show them and then started the music. I think it would have been better vice versa. 2. 480p. Yeah. 3. I did not know who some of the honorable mentions were or I didn't know why you chose them. (Or didn't choose them.) But I still loved the video.
In response to your first three comments, these are my opinions and my opinions alone. You should be able to respect that. you have different opinions than mine, but that doesn't mean that you should shove them in my face. In response to your fourth comment, while it is true that Alder can be fought after fighting N and Ghetsis, N and Ghetsis are the last fights before the Staff Credits, making the final boss of the main storyline. Is Red the final boss of HeartGold and SoulSilver? No. Lance is.
Most villains also did NOT die at the end or during a game or anime. Ayanami from 07-Ghost, for example, manages to live after Teito Klein, the main protagonist, defeated him. And Bowser, from the original Super Mario Bros. was not burned from the lava by Mario, and he is always AT the next castle. Heck, that really ticks me OFF!!!
Just this once... this one single time... I am going to subscribe to someone on the merits of their lists. I am not usually a fan of lists, and the people behind them... but I have to say you are the only one who I can actually stand to listen to. So... congrats. You have been subscribed too.
I never played much Pokemon, but N. does seem much more respectable than Giovanni and is a surprisingly complex Pokemon villain. Xehanort however is who I consider the greatest video game villain of all time. He has a truly inspiring master plan that does make some sense when you think about it (although it doesn't justify the extremes he's willing to go to). He is like a perfect mixture of Palpatine and Voldemort.
Your opinions are agreeable, and I like how when Pokemon is on your list it is usually the best. About King Dedede, in the show he gets jeolous of Kirby since he's (the worst) king and everyone thinks this mysterious pink creature from space is there hero. They needed a hero because of King Dedede though (greed) and he feels threatened.
@superflipper76 I have some questions for you! 1. What if I say I don't like your latest video? You got a problem with that? 2. Are you looking foward to Pokemon Black 2 & White 2? 3. Have you watched most of greenscorpion64's video which I like better than your own? 4. If you said you hated King Dedede which is why he's not worthy of an antagonist of the series, who is your favorite Kirby Villain? 5. Do you really think Red & Alder are considered Optional Bosses instead of the Final Bosses?
I like this countdown. While you did use Peanut3423 and Joshscorcher jokes, at least you credited them..... I agree with your placement of Eggman. While I like Dedede, I can see your complaints. :D
I have to admit, I didn;t expect Team Plasma to be here, but I am happy that they are. Team Plasma in B/W have such an impact on the world, appearing in almost every city and town, unlike the others who just appeared randomly. Not only that, but I think N is such a deep character, and Ghetsis is so menacing. He is my favourite Pokemon villain of all time. Great choice for a great list.
One other thing about N that I think is brilliant is that he only uses Pokemon that are found as wild Pokemon in that area. While the animation shows him to use Poke Balls, I really think the wild Pokemon choose to fight alongside him rather than him taking them as his own, which goes to show his resolve. Or he just calls on wild Pokemon, but either way, it just shows how he truly believes his philosophy. And in the last battle, he uses old friends that choose to fight for his cause.
I think that here we could apply the "It's about the journey, not the destination." by the means of, yes it's a very cliche goal, but his method of obtaining it is brilliant. It's like a man getting gun laws so strict that no one owns a gun, only for him to then threaten them all with nukes if they don't become subservient.
I agree with your opinions, but I think my favorite villain of all time is *spoilers* *spoiler alert* *spoilers for TWEWY* Joshua, from The World Ends With You, the betrayal, the final boss fight, and his reasoning behind the things he does is so well thought out. His personality is great as well! All around awesome.
I'm wondering what exactly makes Dedede and N Villainous? I see how they are antagonistic, like Henry Cooldown and Bob from Super Smash Brothers. Why do you consider those two Villains in the first place?
I can understand why you picked all these guys in the rank they are in. though one small questions about your dishonorably mentioned list. why are master hand and andross considered bad villains? I dont think master hand can be considered a villain and andross...well if you can explain both to me, then i would appreciate it
awesome list. and i'm glad there weren't spoilers for Black 2 and White 2. (though, in all honesty, i prefer Dark Samus over Ridley) btw, you don't fight Ridley in Prime 2. you meant Prime 3.
Ghetsis has to be one of the most terrifyingly evil villains in the games. He's a mentally unstable narcissist who wants to conquer Unova through violent force and has no qualms about outright murder if someone threatens his plans. He even tells the Kyurem he's somehow controlling in B/W 2 to KILL the player with its Glaciate attack.
I agree with you, King Dedede is very memorable, especially in the games where he is a good guy. But greed alone is not enough to make a villain, he needs power, loyalty by minions, and motives.
I agree with you! My sister has only had trouble in one boss fight with Dedede, and that was when he was possessed by Yin-yarn. Not because he was hard to stun, but because she was having a hard time aiming correctly at the buttons that attached him to the weird wood thingy controlling him. Seriously? I have to say, the battle with the possessed Meta Knight was pretty cool, much much much cooler than battling yarn puppet King Dedede! At least Meta Knight you had to figure out how to stun him. W
I realize Ridley always comes back, but heres some defense for Samus freezing up in Other M, after Ridley was defeated on Zebes in Super Metroid...THE PLANET FREAKING EXPLODED!! If anybody's worst enemy survived that, he'd be hesitant too.
In my opinion Handsome jack from borderlands 2 is the best villain ever. he has a clear motive (not gonna spoil that), puts up a great boss fight, remains present throughout the whole game, and bonus points for being absolutely fucking hilarious! What are some of your favorite villains?
Ridley has just served as a member of the Space Pirates and only exists to get in Samus's way. Jasper was just a motivation for Travis to climb the UAA again.
I agree with your number 1....seriously, Ghetsis even convinced me, as well....I haven't even got the game, I was watching a trailer, heh... I wish it was team rocket, tho....i love them...
One of the best villains of all time in my opinion that I feel should at LEAST get an honorable mention is Clockwerk from Sly Cooper. He was brilliantly written, had a great motive, and an insane final battle and continued to be a main character in the series even after he was defeated.
3. Well that's fine, you can have your own opinion on who you think is your favorite. 4. Me too, Magolor is my #1 Kirby Villain ever. I can't seem to remember what I like about him, but all I can say is that his boss fight is really challenging even though he's incredibly tough especially Extra Mode. Perhaps someday in your future videos, you might tell us why you like Magolor as a Kirby Villain. 5. Now I understand what you mean about Red & Alder, that's all the questions I can give to you.
Ridley is one of the best and most iconic video game villains ever mostly by how he was able to mentally and emotionally scar Samus to the point when they would fight each other later Samus would either act like a scared child or go into beserker fury when she sees him so yeah Ridley is an awsome villain.
BEST 5. Caesar (Fallout NV) a saving grace of this pitiful followup, Ceasar gives a beautiful oration for what he's doing 4. Guilty (Spark Halo 3) All he wanted was to protect his installation 3. Malus (Shadow of the Colossus) He watched all 15 of his brothers die, you'd be pissed too 2. John Henry (Eden Fallout 3) endearing radio voice and diabolical mastermind and WE programmed him 1. Mr. Freeze (Arkham City) Not doing it for wealth or power, only his dying wife, not to mention, DAT BOSS FIGHT
I know that this really has nothing to do with the core of the video...but I have that same puppy poster in my room. It really brings a living space together, wouldn't you say? Also, so I don't feel that I'm wasting your time, nice choice for best villain. While I wouldn't say I share the same sentiment toward Ghetsis that you have, I've got to admit that he is probably the most competent and effective villain in the series.
21:10 I actually like him too! He also had an excellent plan, and excellent methods. I even use Cofagrigus, Seismitoad, Eelektross, and Hydreigon like he does. They are all pretty potent if you ask me.
Best 5. Majora (LoZ MM) it tries to destroy Termina by throwing the moon into it, that's badass 4. Wheatly (Portal 2) he is hilarious, and tries his best to be a great villain, even if he's as dumb as possible 3. Dormin (SotC): he is the ultimate backstabber 2. Xehanort (KH): no matter what incarnation you face, he still retains his cunning personality 1. Count Bleck (SPM): he is a tragic villain, trying to destroy all worlds out of misery for his lost love, Timpani. doesn't get as great as that
on Dedede: I'm gonna be blunt, calm the fuck down. Dedede is the manifestation of gluttony and bordem, by some standards he can be considered a villain but he's just the final boss, and to certain extents a playable character. He was never meant to be the villain of the series, or a villain in general, just the meaning of bordem is something that can be used to create a villain
Another note (because I couldn't fit this in my last comment :3) Ocelot was never the major villain outside of the fact that he was to be turned into Liquid. Although he has quite an interesting back-story.
You know what I don't get? Why did an enemy so brutish-looking, feral, and intimidating get a name as normal as Ridley? If you heard someone yell, "Look out! Ridley's coming!" and you haven't played Metroid yet, you would think some office worker was coming, not an evil dragon thing.
I really liked lord fairfax as a villain, because i hated him so much i know many people don't think that way, but i think that fable 2 was the most emotional of all fable titles, and even more emotional then most other titles it was the first fable i played, and to me, it was a completely new experience the music was a big part of that experience too
I just hate Ghetsis in general. He tries to make me release my pokemon (and makes me feel bad for not doing so.), Manipulates N a great anti-hero, makes you feel bad again, splits team plasma in two and manages to trick team plasma neo members with the same lie, destroys Opelucid city which is a feat in itself for a pokemon villain, makes you face a guy who you thought was a friend (Colress), AND TRIES TO KILL YOU! Man this guy is a great villain.
Well, her motive is, admittedly original, but it's not very good, and her machine takes so long to warm up that Banjo is able to conquer her entire castle, clean out nine different worlds, collect 100 jiggies and 900 notes before she is able to use it. But the fights against her are AWESOME!

hey flipper, sorry to inconvenience you like this, but what is song used in your honorable mentions in your top 5 best and worst villains? I recognize it so much and its bugging me on how i can't remember where its from.
Same question here. There’re a good number of subreddits where people will try to help identify songs from even a snippet if thats your cup of tea
Altough you go with team plasma, i go for team galactic (gen 4). Their goals were much more threatening and its leader was also much better. The only thing i like about team plasma is the character N, like everyone else on the planet

KAMAL CHAHAL i prefer team plasma cause i HATE their boss fights especially jupiter and mars (i hate that purugly and skunktank
Jyothi Murthy i mean i hate team galactics bosses
What are you talking about? They're #1 Best, not #1 Worst.
Yes. I caught this as well. I originally had a subtitle saying this but, for whatever reason, it was deleted when I rendered the video, and I didn't see it was missing until it was uploaded.
Meet the Spy theme from Team Fortress 2
Yeah. So did Bowser, Eggman, and even Ganondorf. Your point is invalid.
The Meet the Spy theme from Team Fortress 2
Meh. I honestly really liked Dedede. He's supposed to be more of a comic villain, while the real villains are great evils.
I definitely liked Team Plasma, though.
Did you just skip over the honorable mentions or something?
What movie is it when the number entry into is playing?
I just thought i'd ask this but what is your opinion on Ghetsis and N and the new team plasmas role B2 and W2?
Do you base your countdowns on video games that you've played because I know there are many great villains that weren't on the list or mentioned.
Yes, some of my videos are about negative subjects. However, the videos that happen to be about negative subjects are also my earliest projects. Everyone knows that people get better with practice, and I've had quite a lot since then. 3. That's your opinion.
2. Magolor
1. I believe that's what I said.
I'm pretty sure I already explained sufficiently in the video itself.
no, but Persona 4 is on my list.
Meet the Spy theme
You have very nice lists and count downs and i love your video presentation. Keep making these they are very entertaining
Great countdown. I did love it how Eggman was on there, but I'm kinda sad that Yami wasn't on. Oh well, still great
Hey! This was a great video. Just a few nitpicks...

i agree, not being completely defeated is one of the strongest part of a great videogame villain

Just Curious, what do you have against Master Hand?
Superflipper76 what do you think of Meta knight
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THEM ON THIS LIST!!!
whats that song that plays with erazor djinn early on?
While Team Galactic might be my favorite crime organization, when it comes to my favorite Pokémon villain, I prefer Dusknior from Explorer’s of Sky.
12:55 I know that Boom Headshot was started by Doug but wasn't that quote in a movie too?
I'm wondering what exactly makes Dedede and N Villainous? I see how they are antagonistic, like Henry Cooldown and Bob from Super Smash Brothers. Why do you consider those two Villains in the first place?
12:57-13:08
where is this audio clip from?
I can understand why you picked all these guys in the rank they are in. though one small questions about your dishonorably mentioned list. why are master hand and andross considered bad villains? I dont think master hand can be considered a villain and andross...well if you can explain both to me, then i would appreciate it
awesome list. and i'm glad there weren't spoilers for Black 2 and White 2. (though, in all honesty, i prefer Dark Samus over Ridley)
btw, you don't fight Ridley in Prime 2. you meant Prime 3.
Woops, love the vid. Sometimes you just need to chill out tho. It makes me stressed to see u flip out

[Best]
#5 - Natsuhiko Azuma (NORN9)
#4 - Bowser (Super Mario series)
#3 - Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)
#2 - Monokuma (Danganronpa)
#1 - Hades (Kid Icarus: Uprising)
I agree with you, King Dedede is very memorable, especially in the games where he is a good guy. But greed alone is not enough to make a villain, he needs power, loyalty by minions, and motives.
I'm surprised you didn't include Makarov. You put so much detail about him in one of your other Top Tens, I would've expected him as well.
I love the fact that you can shoot Lucien in the face or the nuts and he still grabs his chest like he's convinced that he's having a heart attack.
I have a question. Have you ever played persona 3 or 4 ? If not I highly reccomend both. Almost everyone who plays these rpgs love them.
What did you think of King DDD in the show?
When did Ganondorf help Link? (Unless you're referring to subspace emissary)
In my opinion Handsome jack from borderlands 2 is the best villain ever.
he has a clear motive (not gonna spoil that), puts up a great boss fight, remains present throughout the whole game, and bonus points for being absolutely fucking hilarious! What are some of your favorite villains?
what's the music that starts at 3:15
Ridley has just served as a member of the Space Pirates and only exists to get in Samus's way.
BEST
5. Caesar (Fallout NV) a saving grace of this pitiful followup, Ceasar gives a beautiful oration for what he's doing
4. Guilty (Spark Halo 3) All he wanted was to protect his installation
3. Malus (Shadow of the Colossus) He watched all 15 of his brothers die, you'd be pissed too
2. John Henry (Eden Fallout 3) endearing radio voice and diabolical mastermind and WE programmed him
AustinSPTD1996
Best
5. Majora (LoZ MM) it tries to destroy Termina by throwing the moon into it, that's badass
4. Wheatly (Portal 2) he is hilarious, and tries his best to be a great villain, even if he's as dumb as possible
3. Dormin (SotC): he is the ultimate backstabber
2. Xehanort (KH): no matter what incarnation you face, he still retains his cunning personality
1. Count Bleck (SPM): he is a tragic villain, trying to destroy all worlds out of misery for his lost love, Timpani. doesn't get as great as that
I may regret this but why were Sigma and Andross in the Worst Villains mentions?
on Dedede: I'm gonna be blunt, calm the fuck down. Dedede is the manifestation of gluttony and bordem, by some standards he can be considered a villain but he's just the final boss, and to certain extents a playable character. He was never meant to be the villain of the series, or a villain in general, just the meaning of bordem is something that can be used to create a villain
True. It's still unfair to diminish him to how he is now though.
Ridley does speak...in the manga at least. If you read that, then you can become very invested in Ridley and the chemistry between him and Samus.
I'm glad you put me, The Eggman, on the list.
I really liked lord fairfax as a villain, because i hated him so much
i know many people don't think that way, but i think that fable 2 was the most emotional of all fable titles, and even more emotional then most other titles
it was the first fable i played, and to me, it was a completely new experience
the music was a big part of that experience too
What connection did he make between jasper and erazor's voices? they sound nothing alike.
Hatred for humanity? But sonic isn't even a human?...
