I had a stroke and it makes me like I was unbalance. I found out everything in me is not the same anymore. I went to the shop look around for something to help, I found out this oil call flaxseed oil,
a source of Omega- 3 fatty acid. I bought one bottle, I take 1 table spoon every more, I also take extra virgin oil 1 table spoon, every morning now, there's a change in me. I am feeling better and it is natural. The olive oil I bought is from Spain. No one told me I just ask my daughter to go with me, who ever was guiding me THANK YOU. I BELIEVED I'M GETTING MY BRAIN BACK.❤🙏⚘

I am 73 and 3 years ago, i was always loosing my balance and even had trouble walking straight. At the same time I was loosing my ability to articulate the way I had in the past, searching for words and substituting.. I was going downhill. Two of the blessing that happened 6 months apart were 2 covid grandsons were born! I had waited 71 years to get grandsons. I volunteered to provide daycare for both so all 4 parents could work. I got very busy, lots of moving, picking up babies, feeding them, trying to mentally stimulate them. I was constantly getting up and down as many as 20 times a day.. as they laid of the floor on a blanket. A year later I started taking NMN and supporting supplements per Dr. David Sinclair anti aging regime. I am now 2 months away from 74th birthday, I no longer have any balance issues and my cognitive and associated command of the english language returned. I attribute most of the improvement to constant attention to the grandsons, but the NMN definitely helped me in many ways. I feel 50 again.

DHA and B12 are important for memory.
I supplement with Choline 500mg/Inositol 500 mg (good for the liver of people that had too much fructose, sugar and/or alcohol - choline is a precursor to Acetylcholine important in memory). Also Acetyl L-Carnitine 500 mg to metabolize lipids in the brain. Serine is another phospholipid that is supposed to help memory.
Selenium is important to convert T4 to T3 along with Iodine for normal Thyroid function (cold hand, feet, nose is typical of iodine deficiency).

I was only 40 and now in my 50s, but then I took omegA-3 and vitamin B 12 and complex, and after a few months, I noted that it helped my sentences, and I stopped forgetting the words. Cognitive decline happens to many during what should be their “Golden Years”.
The fact that if we are pro-active, we can drastically reduce/eliminate cognitive decline was blinding sunshine rays of hope.
It isn’t just about the quality of our lives, but the quality of our children/grand children’s lives.
As we get older, if we allow our health to fail, who will take care of us?
I’m 62, my children are now starting to raise their own children, they have enough on their plate already.
I will do whatever I can to keep myself healthy so that they won’t have to take care of me.

As a granddaughter and daughter of 2 ladies in my life that passed away with Alzheimer’s I am very concerned for myself and I already was checked but the doctor said that I have to start on prevention meds
I’m only 58 so I refused the meds and started 5 years ago to change my diet to Mediterranean life style
With your presentation I can be sure that I’m on the right track for preventing this devastating Disease
Thank you so much and I thank God that I found you ❤️🙏🧠

Thirty years ago my friend and her husband took under their wing an elderly gentleman (in his 80's), who had Parkinson's. He was restricted to wheelchair movement only, was overweight, weak, depressed, and on four medications for the illness. They fed him a strict macrobiotic wholefood vegeterian diet.
After only a few weeks he dropped two of the medications. His strength returned in time and he was able to walk again and dispensed with the wheelchair. The other two medications were dropped after a couple of months. He had a new lease of life - could shop for himself, and do normal daily activities. His great joy was to be able to play with his grandchildren.
I get very demoralised when I here such things as a billion dollars raised for research into PD. Great that people are contributing, but do we need a laboratory and a microscope to find the cause. No, we need to pull the lense way back and observe the day to day habits we all enact - particularly what we put in our bodies (IE: food and drink). We're being too clever to see the obvious!
parkinsons disease is man made from all the pesticides and chemicals we have used and injested in the food we eat .A recent University of California, Davis study found that pregnant women living near fields treated with the pesticide chlorpyrifos were three times more likely to have a child with autism. In addition, prenatal exposure to chlorpyrifos has been linked to anomalies in the brain’s surface, causing lower IQs. Early childhood exposure has been linked to developmental delays.
California counties with highest use of chlorpyrifos, including agricultural uses and nonagricultural uses, such as landscaping, mosquito control and, before 2001, residential fumigation
Chlorpyrifos belongs to a particularly toxic family of pesticides called organophosphates. These pesticides work as neurotoxins to kill insects. In bigger doses, they’re also neurotoxins for humans.
Chlorpyrifos used to be commonly used inside peoples’ homes to control insects.
I started researching chemical use in the US back about 20 years ago. I eliminated almost all conventional cleaners, went organic, used natural personal care products, refused chemical carpet cleaners, avoided anything listed as scented, non-stick or water / dirt proof, etc. I've saved money and feel I've protected my family and myself to a great extent.Chinese say two things ---> ;all disease enters throught the mouth ......----> The secret to life is DICIPLINE".

Folate in the USA suffers from the early discovery that sufficient ingestion can mask deficiencies in another B vitamin, thus the recommended daily dosage is extremely low - this was an artifact of studies attempting to isolate the separate B vitamin effects. Your folate ingestion can be much higher than the recommended dosage still adhered to by USDA a lifetime ago without further research since. Folate is highly important due to reasons of nucleic acid assembly and cell reproduction.
The B vitamins can be said to be needed in every day's diet for optimum cognitive health, as traumatic stress induces the brain to use greater amounts - you are not, then, merely producing "expensive urine", as claimed by those likely to experience earlier dementia than you who eat healthy diets. Bs do not accumulate as do, for example, D and A, two fat-soluble vitamins stored in livers.
Alpha-linolenic acid the short-chain variety of Omega 3 fatty acid, is converted at relatively low rates to the cellular long-chain forms so useful to us (we have this low enzyme-catalyzed conversion rate in common with other mammals. Omega 6 enzymatic conversion to functional phospholipids compete with this, and this issue , of digestion, is relevant to your meal planning or general choices of fat sourcing. We DO need omega6 too.) So walnuts, Flaxseed, etc. have some value - and women may be able to convert more than males. This would be a dimorphic adaptation due to female fetal needs, as well as other probable evolutionary reasons for the variation.

    • @briseboy

Gluten appears, like those genetically unable to digest lactose, a limited allelic variation. ( some African as well as Eurasian peoples ARE able to digest lactose, and the same occurs in the case of populations coevolving with gluten-containing grains.)
Autoimmune response varies enough that there are environmental (including social) stresses that can "trigger" or more accurately, increase likelihood of excessive immune response. The issue cannot be approached at all well in comment, and NO such overgeneral assertions should be made merely because a single individual, or subpopulation desires to attribute a disease factor which does NOT affect other populations as if it were universal truth, like plutonium or ricin toxicity.

Unfortunately, there are many claims about all sorts of stuff on the internet and on youtube and Dunning Kruger means that people with no qualifications can form 'beliefs' about stuff without questioning whether they have the competence to do so.

It's awful logic to assume that because X hasn't been _mentioned in one of your TH-cam videos_ it's less of a valid assertion to suggest X "may play a role".
It *may or may not* play a role indirectly via cytokinetic consequences and epigenetics of immune regulation and microbiome axis that's way beyond the scope of your pedestrian understanding from your "videos".
Open minds, people. Biology is still developing and the deep complex answers won't all be revealed anytime soon.
As the person said. It "may well play a role".. one of hundreds of factors that play a role in the manifold iterative systems within our immune programming, epigenetics and consequences thereof that may well require future supercomputing advance to understand and map onto the various genotype distributions providing correct care on an indication basis. It's very clear that a multitude of genetics and environmental factors are complicit in the development of Alzheimer's

A lot of comments here about 'how awful /sad that those old people get sick brains' . 🤯
It's the health choices and environmental exposures that happen from 12-40 years old that determine whether and how much toxicity & deficiency will have to be remediated in 50's to avoid a miserable slow death by dementia in 60's -80's.
While there are several major behavioral-
environmental causes, if we just eliminate the top ones, dementia & Alzheimer's can be avoided for most people:
Alcohol beyond 4 drinks/week, or ANY for alcoholics, diabetics.
    *Drug Abuse, & Smoking .
Lack of Exercise (oxygenation) & poor flushing of exercise metabolites .
Poor Nutrition - high blood sugar, vitamin deficiences D - et al, Omega 3 fats, unprocessed plant oils, chlorophyll, indigestible fiber.
Lower Immuno burden : avoid / clear infections -bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic.
Restore biome, pre/pro biotics to strengthen immune system .
Trauma - "accidents" (most of which are behaviorally avoidable) .
Low brain exercise - habit of new learning .
    Sleep, quality & duration !
Let's at least change ourselves for the better now !!
*including addiction to behaviors that repeatedly create excessive hormones/neurotransmitters - adrenaline, epinephrine, serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, endorphins, steroids.
Smoking tobacco or cannibis, otc stimulants (diet pills, high caffiene/guarana/ECEG 'energy' tonics/snacks, and otc depressants: antihistamines (dimenhydrate) & cough suppressant (dexomethoraphan). As well as more obvious street drugs : solvents, meth, crack, cocaine, club drugs, psychedelics, inhalants, etc .

Easier said than done, of course, considering it has become increasingly more difficult, socially, to eat a healthy diet. Those not clinging to such contrafactual heuristics would do well to continually remain critical of such assertions having no validity other than in the perceptions of an individual posting such obvious errors in youtube comment columns.

It is very possible that apart from sleeping tablets and other toxic chronic medications, vitamin/mineral supplements and fashionable oils are also possibly a risk to health and cognitive decline; some oils lower body temperature especially in winter and this can lead to a number of health problems in those whose body temperature is already low. A supplement of one vitamin/mineral can lead to a deficiency in another.
Nature has provided a full pantry of whole foods for us to choose from and soil has never been so composted/overnourished probably in all its recent history! If soil were impoverished, we would and could eat three to four oranges (or whatever fruit) at a time if we were so deficient in, for example, vitamin C.
Another risk factor is that sometimes the body doesn't store what it doesn't need, so a pale-skinned person in a cold climate showing low levels of vitamin D might be a case of the person's body not storing what it doesn't need.
If you are a pale-skinned person on a fairly good diet (a wide variety of whole foods with a bit of what you fancy, "unhealthy" treats, thrown in for good measure), but your vitamin D levels show low yet you feel terrible on vitamin D supplements, remember that nature isn't entirely stupid and "experts" often get it wrong!

This "mind" diet seems awfully outdated. Besides that we now know AD is considered diabetes 3, cereals & grains are converted to glucose and are arguably worse than straight sugar. I don't see butter being equated to inflammatory high omega-6 margarine. Bottom line, eat healthy. Lots of produce and omega 3s.

At first I took concoctions made by an MD who also practiced Ayurveda, to heal my guts that western "healthcare" had trashed. Now in my 60's I enjoy life like I didn't get between age 32-50. I stay away from drs, pharmacies, hospitals, vaccine clinics, and anything that smells like Westernized healthcare. It took discipline, hard work, lots of struggles, lots of learning/ educating myself and self-treaments to gain my FREEDOM. The money I save I spend on eating well and taking natural supplements from verified sources, all local.

I did likewise and my health improved enormously. It was never good even in youth but now that I'm old, I am much healthier than in youth. I am European, but I don't follow the entire Mediterranean diet that is supposed to be healthy because only some aspects are but many are not eg too much starchy food that is bad for diabetes and not enough animal sourced protein that leads to Biamin B deficiencies etc, just as some oriental, Indian etc diets can be bad eg too much rice etc. But, if you do your research and just take the good aspects of each culture's foods, you can be very healthy, I found. In my part of Australia, there is iodine deficiency in the soil so people get thyroid problems as a result and school children used to be given iodine pills by the school to combat the iodine deficiency. I discovered I could beat this by simply by eating certain Japanese foods that involve sea weed as an ingredient and which contains natural iodine. Thyroid problems gone! No pills necessary, or just sprinkle a pinch of iodised salt on your food daily. We are told that salt is bad, but it actually performs an important role in the body. And the Japanese who eat tons of salty foods do not have a high incidence of heart disease, supposedly caused by excess salt intake. Just as the French who consume a lot of wine and rich, creamy, chloresterol laden fine cuisine do not have the expected high rate of heart disease this is supposed to cause. Though much depends on other factors eg how much physical work you do or how much you actually eat. Some people eat small portions, to savour nice food, whilst others eat like pigs and this must obviously contribute to bad health, even if they consume massive portions of so called "healthy food". In excess, nothing is healthy.

Since Honeydew is made from the sap of trees, sometimes pre-digested by aphids, and it contains high levels of polyphenols and flavonoids then perhaps similar compounds are in the wood used to age strong alcohol, and the water and alcohol soluble compounds dissolve in the alcohol. This could explain alcohol's effects to improve dementia. One way to quantify this, would be to compare red wine which is high in resveratrol with alcohol aged in barrels segregating it depending if it was aged in Oak, Cherry, Hickory or Maple with the control being something like clear distilled Grappa or Vodka which would not be aged in barrels to determine if it's the alcohol or if it's what's in the alcohol.

@@Jojorocks23 fat is stored by the hormone insulin. Insulin rises when you eat sugar. The sugar you eat in large amounts leads to obesity, metabolic syndrome and obesity. Eating high sugar and high fat is the worst thing you can do as your body has an oxidative order to process foods. Alcohol then sugar must be removed as high amounts in the blood are toxic. Our body needs honeostasis. Insulin remains high with a lifetime of high sugar diet and all excess is stored. Unlike a low insulin state from low sugar consumption. Low insulin, low sugar, low fat storage-- and when insulin is low glucagon rises to burn fat. Bile is actually considered an antiobesity agent. Liver fat or nafld is a aign of insulin resistance before leading to diabetes. Go look it up. All of it, please. So no, a high fat diet in a low insulin, low sugar state is not bad at all. Ketosis is the key as when you're in ketosis you burn primarily fats as the sugars are so low they don't take a long time to burn in the oxidative order. Dr sten ekberg has a good video called the "mathematics of weight loss" explaining it better than I can in a comment section.

Remembering to follow the latest scientific advice, that the single biggest best thing you can do for your long-term health is to reduce glucose (sugar) spiking in the blood, which has been proven to have a significant impact in aging the body both externally and internally, and includes that from carbohydrates, (which the body digests as glucose). So a plant based keto, quality protein including omega3 rich foods, like oily fish & eggs, & lower carb, low fructose diet, and as found by the Glucose Goddess, eaten in the best order, with a tablesppon of a good vinegar beforehand, and a vege or salad starter to line the intestines with fibre, and in a meal, veges, proteins, fats and then carbohydrates, even have a sweet dessert last, and this has been proven to reduce the harmful glucose spiking by a large 70%. Use sugar alternatives like Monkfruit sugar/sweetener, or Erythritol, or Xylitol. All readily available. And either ensure your getting enough, or supplement the hard to get Vitamins like D, K2 and Magnesium, and Selenium etc. 😊

This response caused me to think that the civil servant has proclaimed, 'A no cure possible for dementia ever!'
If the attitude of a civil servant is such, then what other investigative methodologies may have been squashed, on pertinent issues, because of the short sightedness of our civil service.

I saw an anthropological video once which talked about the earliest humans. The theory was that people started to really progress, at the tip of southern Africa, by eating shellfish that they were able to easily gather. There was evidence of this and dating. The shellfish provided fats, so the theory goes, that allowed the brain to develop. This is, in part, why I have switched to a pescatarian diet. Many decades ago, I was a vegetarian. After a divorce, about five years ago, I went vegetarian, then pescatarian. I will eat meat when outside the home, but that happens seldom these days. If there is seafood, I will opt for that. Healthy saturated fats like those found in coconut oil can actually help people with cognitive decline. MCT oils, especially caprylic acid are very good for the brain. And cholesterol is actually needed by the brain to function properly. BTW, wasn't it red wine that helped cognition much more than white wine?
