I have owned this machine for quite some time now, and I really like it. The fog lays low, until people start mixing it up on the dance floor. Then it rises. However, it does not rise nearly as quickly as a regular fog machine, and that makes it ideal for low ceiling venues. Used minimally it provides an excellent addition for lights and lasers. In the video I noticed fog coming out from under the cover. Either Mike did not have the cover cranked down all the way or the unit was defective. My unit only shoots fog out of the vent at the bottom of the machine. A helpful hint for future owners of this machine...drain the water through the front vent by tipping the machine forward at the end of the night into a bucket or cooler. It is quick and easy and doesn't harm the machine.
I have one of these. Yes, dry ice is much better than using regular ice. The dry ice allows it to stay lower longer. The regular ice only keeps it low briefly, then it's up in the air like a regular fog machine.
I just tested one of these last night and I was blown away by the quality of its design and construction. If you don't have access to dry ice, I found that reusable gel packs (for sports injuries, keeping food cool in coolers, etc.) are almost as good as dry ice. Typically, they maintain 0°F or less (in your freezer) and are therefore colder than wet ice, and they don't need a drain because they don't melt. One other note... unlike you, I had no problem removing and replacing the drain tube {:-) I've worked in special effects for 30+ years and this is the best unit that I've ever seen... especially for the price.
Mike, I'm sure you know this, but using fast dissipating fog gives the best effect with these machines. That way the fog will dissipate before it starts to rise. I use two of these to take care of the warming cycle...putting some LED Par 64s pointed inwards on the ground looks cool in this stuff!
Fun video. That was Kool! It's 400W so it takes long to cycle. I have a video of a little Walmart Gemmy that uses a similar design on a much smaller scale that did that good. But a really small ice chamber. It did prove to me that fog chilling could work. I use the DIY trash can. I'm going to try a Chauvet 670W Fogger and Froggy's Fog juice outdoors this year.
It's a cool machine unfortunately most venues don't allow conventional fog machine due to setting off cheap smoke alarms. dry ice fog in those cases is the way to go but none the less this machine for like a gym activity or outdoors for old hallows eve is awesome!! thank for the videos their are always fun to watch Mike!
You can Never say anything wrong! Even if you insult me!!!! Most DJ's find out very quickly that the majority of places they perform will NOT allow any type of fog machine. But, it's great for PARTIES! Thanks, Mike
Hi Tyler, To do it like a pro, you would need a $300.00 machine, but, you can get a good effect by using any good 400 watt fog machine and put a large window fan next to the fogger to blow the fog around... Thanks again, Mike
this is just a suggestion (I have never tried this) for the chauvet nimbus your suppsot to crush the ice before putting it into the machine so the water gets more surface area on the dry ice. What if before you put this ice into the machine, you put it in a blender and set it to ice crush and poured the crushed up ice into the machine. Because its crushed up ice there is more of a surface area for the fog to touch the ice meaning that the fog may come out colder and stay lower to the ground longer. But crushed up ice would probably melt faster.
Mike, I have one and with low lying fog and dry ice it the fog stays around ankle height. With regular ice I have the same effect as you got which is why I bought it. I wanted a fog that will come out low and get kicked up and dispersed by the people on the dance floor just to enhance the lights to get a Hazer effect without the expense and without setting off the fire alarms like a lot of standard foggers can do. Forget using it with any kind of draft since it's only 400 watts.
Hey, thanks for your comment.... Actually the instructions tell you to use regular ice, BUT, you would get an even better result if you used dry ice or both at the same time! I'll try it out! Mike
This machine is excellent. Used it in a video outdoors [mostly at night ]with a follow spot light ! Check out its power sample, in the video 'In the light of a Moonbeam' by revelation 77.
It's a Awsome fog machine but you have to watch out the hose going to the fog container is a little long so if it got to much slack inside of the machine it will melt i found out the hard way lol. so i had redo my hose and now it work again Mahalo
well, Mike, I have to say, Its nice, maybe for Halloween , But for a Dj job? these days places , at least I dj at , don't allow any smoke machines nor fog in there place , I can see this at a Halloween party though, but that's once a year . but I really like the video , the fog don't really stay on the bottom to much long , and its just to much time to set up , my self , I like lasers and led lights . I do Like the ADj mini lazes . hope I'm not saying anything wrong. just making a comment
Bought unit even a gallon of their juice. Used once with 10 lbs of dry ice, did not stay low, fogged whole venue. Cleaned, attempted to use next week and no nothing. Injected a quart of fog fluid through intake hose and still nothing. ADJ REFUSED to send me shipping label back to them, for repair. $38.00 to ship back!!!
That's Cool, Mister ^o^ I wonder how long the ice lasts. I assume the metal grate is angled downward towards the back. It's 400W so it acts like one ie. long time to heat and cycle. It looks great but obviously does rise and fill up the room though in this test anyway. Thanks for showing us this.
DJ Vortical because dry ice sublimation isn't fog. It is evaporation , and dissipates quickly. Fog fluid is and atomized vapor and takes a considerable time to dissipate, especially indoors.
Front of the box says "Create low lying fog effect with standard fog juice & Ice cubes" He Says " I don't know for sure if you can use any fog fluid or not" Makes me doubt EVERYTHING he says...
He made it clear he did not read any instructions, he also mentioned it being on the box as soon as he noticed it. If you have seen any of his reviews, you will know he is keen on this stuff, but by no means an expert. For me, that's perfect, he gives an honest novice review.
Never called him a novice, I said he gave an honest novice review. Besides which, selling a thing does not make one an expert at that thing, regardless of how long one has been selling.
This has to be the worst thing I ever bought. Mine leaked right from the first time I used it. I had to caulk the whole inside. The top lid came crooked. And seriously the fog doesn't stay low for more than 20 seconds, then its everywhere. Not enough time to have your clients dance in the clouds. I was thoroughly embarrassed.

Hello i´m from Costa Rica, best review of one of this devices that i see in a long time. Really helpful.

i was thinking about using 2 of these units for that exact reason. Are you still using them or have u upgraded since then?

looks like a great unit mike! really impressed with it and also your video! Keep up the good work!
i know i just found the best channel out there because of the things in the backround me make me fungasm
It would spread too fast. Instead of ground fog, you would smoke out the dance floor.
It can be used to keep beer cool, when you are a mobile dj
Samuel Agius LOL, I guess it could!!!!
And let us use the draining hose as a straw to tap that cold beer...lol
Samuel Agius questions

Thanks for your message.
I will do a video to show the difference!!!!

Very helpful thank you for showing this. Also you have a great personality.
I LOVE your videos. Cheers from the UK
It says right on the box right in plain sight. Uses standard fog fluid with ice cubes.

Hello, Mike and I were just talking about doing a video on it. so yeah we are going to do it!
Thanks,
Rob B2DJ.COM
It does not run off of just ice. You have to have fog juice and if all goes through the eyes which makes it low to the ground
I need one of these for my haunt I’m doing this year for Halloween 👻
Hey its good to see some mike reviews we havent seen you too much lately. Hey any chance you have some led moving heads you can review.
yes you can use any type of fog juice
It's a Awsome fog machine but you have to watch out the hose going to the fog container
is a little long so if it got to much slack inside of the machine it will melt i found out the hard way lol. so i had redo my hose and now it work again
Mahalo
LOL! We tried the same thing after I shot this video, and, your right, the slightest breeze whips the fog away!
Mike
I'm going to shoot another video using dry ice!
I have the Mister Kool for $149.99.
Thanks, Mike
Great something that really works cool can I trade my old one in
Okay - nice review. I was wondering - do you sell a WIRELESS remote that works with this unit?
Love ya Mike
Hey Art,
Not sure if I told you this before, but, I use to live in Palmdale!
Mike
Mike, Could you do a video on that large ADJ bubble machine? (Bubble blast, not Jr.) THANKS!!!
Great review and great product. I'd love to try it with dry ice. Do you know what the retail price is?
Do they make a 1000 watts version? because that 400 watts is to short 30sec max

this one is really neat, but too costly for one day a year. any suggestions?

That's called the color tube by American DJ.
Thanks,
Rob B2DJ.COM
The American DJ mr kool is a nice machine. The Anari Ice is also a great machine. My advice stay away from Chauvet.
Awesome !! Hey guys can I use dry ice at this machine? Thanks
kool...looks great!
Thanks Mike, really appreciate.......can I use the same machine ?
Hi mike what is the price? I would love to order one around Halloween.thanks.
Awesome! Does your coffee taste like fog juice? thanks art from palmdale!
you're awesome fun man!!
Hey Mike... how many javas are up to per day? That should be your next raffle.. .
this is basically to sum up my last post... Try putting crushed ice into the mister kool
I would put this up high so the fog falls onto the dance hall.
That really cool
I'm going to try it again using DRY ICE!
nice there was a lot of sexual innuendoess in this lol
Hey Mike, do you have a bubble fog machine??? where the fog is inside the bubbles?
Ted
Columbus, Ohio
Funny guy ;-) shame it rises a bit, but I guess that's as good as the 'non real' stuff gets!
you don't NEED to use dry ice to this machine, that's the good think about it. :)
thats pretty cool
Try an eliminator 1000w machine with a fog chiller that would be awesome
Mike Johnson, my question is: the ice for this machine is REAL ICE or DRY ICE?
They're $69.00
Thanks,
Rob.
I would love to get one of those but I dont know how much they are could you tell me please.
I just buy the fog machines from spirit Halloween but these seem to be a bit nicer
How much do you sell them for? (I don't see it on your website) Thanks!!!
LOL, yep, I figured that out!!!
Can I use dry ice instead?
This is sweet.
Hey Mike. Does it always make that loud noise at the beginning each time or is this just because it is because of 1st time use?
It quiets down after it gets going...
Hi mike, I got a DMX controller last year, I can't program it though, SOS!!! Please help me program thanks
yes i think is Works with dry ice :)
If you didn't want to use it exclusively as a low fogger would it still work as a regular fog machine?
Yes! This should work find for a regular fog machine, just don't add the ice.
No way a dj should be using that as dance on the clouds, looks like a great way to wreck first dance pics
will this fill a 20 foot by 20 foot dance floor ?
so i bought one online, and i dont think its working, does the motor start running right when you hit the switch on the back?
whats that light tube looking thing in the background at 7:00
Hi Mike. I lost my plastic bag for the nossle. Can i buy one from you?
Mac Joseph Good question, I'll see if I can order that for you....
Thank you!!
Nice name! "MR Cool" lol
How much to my door in Prescott AZ 86305? Also I wonder if you can hang one of these on a truss to enhance your lasers?
which is better to use standard ice o dry ice
Is the fog cold
Hi does this unit leave any residue or wettness on the floor?
Paul McCarthy Yes, it can leave a residue....
hi, is this fire alarm safe? i'm planning to use this fog machine but i'm worried that alarm willtrigger.
It usually take a LOT of fog to trigger the alarms! I did a video to see if alarms will go off with fog, and, it was a LOT!!!!
Can this machine work with Dry ice ? Tnx
It says it on the Box you were looking Over. Low Lying Fog with Standard Fog Fluid! Duh
Would this be good to put slim pars 56 on the ground with the mister kool
The B2 MINI, Slim Par 56 or the Slim Par 38's will work great....
standard ice is ok, but dry ice is the best.....!
u are too funny mike
Would "I" do that? LOL
Can I use dry ice since its colder then water ice!?!?
Of course
Why do you need a fogger then?
DJ Vortical because dry ice sublimation isn't fog. It is evaporation , and dissipates quickly. Fog fluid is and atomized vapor and takes a considerable time to dissipate, especially indoors.

***** If you had bought it from me, I would have taken care of this situation for you right away!.
Mike
I wish I had Mike. You seem to be a very genuine guy from what I can gather from your videos and comments.
ur suppost to use dry ice mike thats what the other low lying fog machines use

Yeh or the fog will rise
Well it will work like a normal fog machine without ice
Bailey Hocking yes
