@limehouse11 I love the CC 72000, God, do I love it! The sound of its engine is out of this world, the whistling of the turbos is absolutely amazing! Its power is rail-ripping! I remember the first time I traveled on a train pulled by a CC 72000, it was in 1972 during a trip organized by my high school from Brest on the western tip of Brittany to Paris. It was an 18-car train! It didn't seem to bother that good ol' 3600 HP 72000 one bit! Before the so-called oil crisis in the '70s put an end...
@armoricain One very amazing loco saw quite a few , on very large freights and passenger workings , even saw the demo against them at gare du lest . when recording the passenger workings. Travelled behind them going to basel . Still im very lucky to have these videos , i kept the original tapes i recorded them on , never thought so many people would be viewing them , its quite amazing , as you said theres nothing like that turbo whistle. thanks....ian
@Enviro4000 I passed Chalindrey with a 72000 in from from Gare du lest to Basel quite a journey the change to electric at Mulhouse ive posted the loco change part somewhere in my videos . Never made it to the depot thought we passed it, looks quite amazing . i took to the 72000s straight away , there were lots of them around then , seems a lot of countries dont want to use big diesels anymore . hope i get to see some of them again...ian
@limehouse11 I just watched your video again, and I have to say I never get tired of it! I realized I forgot to mention how fantastic your filming skills are! As we say in French: "Le mal est réparé!"
I confirm they are still around. Chances are you'll find them at the Gare de l'Est hauling passenger trains going eastbound to Troyes, Mulhouse and Basel. The ones you find are mostly CC 72100 (72000s with a new diesel engine), I shot a movie last year with no less than 2 CC 72100 heading a passenger train to Vesoul and Mulhouse. You can watch it on YT.
Merci
Thats Gare Du Lest just down the road 10 mins walk from Gare Du Nord . you must remember this was shot over 10 years ago and most of this will not be there , i do belive there are some loco hauled services from both stations , there maybe a more up to date video on youtube . there is a reply from umh121 below which will help....ian
Its been a while but there may be some still on freight and passenger , i will ask around and see if someone can come up with anything , We saw them at Gare Du Lest And Le Bourget And Bobigny Paris Plus Gare Du Nord as well ,if you travel by rail to Paris like we did then try these places try asking the staff they may help , but things have changed a lot , im hoping some are around .....thanks ...ian.
Ian
theres not many 72000 passanger runs left I find these very nice loco's but run between pairs to mulhouse now but you can find them on the d b night sleeper from gard d est when rail works on nice video
yes, 2 units are in Mulhouse museum, but you even can see one of them (the 72084) in original livery, she 's working to move historical locomotives around the country.

I would love a DVD of these trains. Great sounds even if they look a bit like a truck at the front :).

@mysterytwit They match up to their looks , by having tremendous haulage power, i liked the 72000s from the first time i saw them.
I alway thought the French had the best designed locos in the world..
superb compilation,.
the first train i think is the Megacombi intermodal from Paris-La Chapelle
to Valladolid, Spain. [Renault car parts].
