The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway is my favorite Genesis and Progressive Rock album of all time. It's also my favorite concept album. The Lamb contains some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.
There’s a lot of classic concept albums but to me this is the epitomy of them all with its messed up story and surreal atmosphere mixing proto punk with classical with quircky it’s just so unique ..
Just using the play on words, Rael, was ingenious. Peter's lyrics were the height of poetic brilliance. You certainly picked one of the best pieces as a backdrop to your introduction. The keyboard intro still stands as an incredible bit of musicianship. I've always said it's one of the green prog rock lps of all time.
when i hear the word genesis, i think of one of the greatest bands ever in 2 different periods from the 1970s prog period to the 1980s rock blockbuster act. "selling england by the pound" is my favorite genesis album with "the lamb lies down on broadway" a close 2nd.
For the music for sure, lyrics not so much. The post Gabriel "A Trick of the Tail" through "Duke" are my favorites for balancing music and lyrics. Do miss Steve Hackett's guitar work best heard in "Selling England by the Pound".
We were married in August and towards Christmas time we went shopping and on the record store counter was a display for Lamb! Took it home and it stayed on our turntable for over two years!! It takes a while to consume such a masterpiece!!
I'm 56 now and because my parents I know this album. One of my uncles from west germany brought it to my parents in east germany. They made a little business by copying it to tapes and selling these tapes. The same with Deep Purple and ... I HATED this music! It was only ugly noise for me. However, my taste of music changed quickly. When I was 10 my music teacher asked us about what music we like. I answered "Genesis and Deep Purple". The face of my music teacher turned to stone for a few moments. Then she asked, what I about these bands. I answered "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" and "Machine Head". A few days later my music teacher asked my parents for a tape.
Le clip vidéo Mama m’avait impressionné quand j’étais petite et l’exorciste 😱 N’en parlons pas 😂😂 Super groupe et Phil belle voix et sacré batteur 🥁 🤩✨✨✨
I wonder if listening to Genesis will ever becoming trendy? Are we about to see the "influencers" spouting deep lyrics from the Genesis canon? Will teens everywhere shortly be rocking Genesis tees like they do of the Stones, the stooges, Bowie, the Doors, Zeppelin etc? Whaddya think?

Phil Collins has refused to ever read the liner notes. I know why. They are as bizarre as the album and offer little help in understanding the story or the album's meaning.
Words when I think of Genesis:
Exceptional, brilliant, diverse, ambitious, amazing.

Lamb is a masterpiece!
It is!
My favorit álbum ever

The Lamb and Quadrophenia were tops of the era.
I always loved Lamb, but have really come to appreciate Quadrophenia in the last decade. I agree with your assessment.

Invisible Touch album from 1986, but this band have a lot great songs from the beginning to present with Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel.
The Lamb lies down on Broadway is one of THE best albums ever. Genesis was at their best when Gabriel fronted the band.
It ranks as one of the best musical works of the 20th century!
Great album!
Love this album Great story and great music
wonderful this enlightening rhino report... was educated by it ..... thankyou with my love from Lizzie Lane
It's only knock and know all but I like it.
I love Genesis! Didn't know about their early '70s material. Follow You, Follow Me, is as far back as I can recall, as a child. I'm 60.....
You're in for a treat. Peter Gabriel era Genesis is INCREDIBLE.
Heading out into left field here, but my favorite concept album has to be Harry Nilsons The Point:)
the presentation photo without peter gabriel and steve hackett is really funny
That's what caught my attention.

I just googled the story summary on the album inside and my brain is scrambled. Was this story actually told from the perspective of an ostrich?

Planet P Project - Pink World (The rise and fall of Artemis)

CIRO TAJIRI
Quite old 😂 it's great 👍🏽
Absolute masterpiece.
It's pronounced with the long a, as in 'rail'.
That is a racist comment
@@tuxedoneko9837 How do you figure? It's the pronunciation used by Peter Gabriel on the album. How is stating that simple fact somehow racist?

Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1
Kinda expensive though
Favorite concept album? Dream Theater’s Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory

Difficult to listen to the dissertation with the song playing also . . .cognitive dissonance 🤷🏻♂
TOMMY.
Rael. Rhymes with rail
Alexis Petridis. Come on! Show some respect and do your research
Rah-ale? Nope. Take 2!
❤
Genesis 80🤢🤮
Collins voice annoys me. drones.
peter gabriel here.
Peter loves Phil voice, and told once that Collins sings better than him.
