A destroyer could possibly sink a battleship with today’s weapons. Battleships are very expensive to maintain. The modern Iowa Class was upgraded so much they had to add the tripod on top of the first funnel to carry all the new communications and electronics for the current weapons at the time and to continue to have battleships roam the seas would again just be cost prohibitive.
I took the Tamiya 1/350 New Jersey 1985 version and converted it into the 1944 version. Took a few extra parts and photo-etch but looks good. My dream ship would be the Trumpeter 1/200 Iowa. Some day, if I hit the Lotto
VERY Interesting 'OK Mod'....I too have the "older" kit, but I haven't even looked at the instructions closely enough to see the combo paint job for the "Haze Gray". IF, you look up my channel, I too build ships and finished awhile ago, a set of JMSDF ships, they suggested using TS-32 for the hulls of their ships!! And Yes, it is a bit darker than regular "Haze Gray"........I use 'Model Master-acrylic' "Neutral Gray" which is a Bit lighter and more "foggier" ( does that make sense 🤷♂). I Too, also have This model kit, like your Indy car post.....I look forward in Seeing This series of posts.
Thanks Hey_MMoe M! I’ll tell you, I struggled finding the right Haze Grey. I was going to use Model Master, but the line was discontinued. I didn’t feel like mixing paint, but found Tru-Colors and been quite happy with it! I’ll have to check out your channel.
One thought I've often struggled with the Haze... I suspect the very color itself changes wildly based on the lighting conditions of the ship n the equipment filming it... and then different scales will have more or less "apparent darkness" ... long story short, I think ya did great... hoping for a build that is perfectly colored is a fine pursuit but I wouldn't stress about it.
As far as I know, there are no modern 1:200 scale Iowa class. You would have to heavily modify a 1:200 WWII Iowa Class Battleship to the 1980’s configuration. There are 3D parts for the phalanx but that’s about it.

Do you think a single modern destroyer would sink a battleship? I wonder why did they get remove for navies.

I've thought about doing 1/200 scale, but they're a little big and like you mentioned, spendy!

Thanks! It’s hard to fine the right color but glad I found Tru Colors haze grey.
I just bought this set with little knowledge on how to put together larger scale ships, Do I have to buy the paint tones individually? Thanks!
Yes you do. I think I had to use 8 different paint tones from three different manufacturers.
Do you know any way I can go to purchase a one 200 scale of the new retrofitted Iowa class battleships with the missiles on them
