Couch, back in 1984 I was pulling all the 1982 pennies I could find. It was fun knowing of the variety and was planing on making mini sets to sell but did not get around to doing that but still have them all. lol A great video Couch!
Hi,Thank you very much for all the information you have been given to us. It has been very educative. Regarding the 1982 Zinc penny, which is definitely an error in itself since the change of the % of copper in the planchet was intended to be introduced from the year 1983. Could you please let me know if there is an official statement made by the Treasury Department regarding this error An early response would be appreciated.
My first video of yours I’ve seen, my brother has been collecting coins for a while and has recently gotten me into it, for like 4 days now, and I found a 1982-D Small Date but it only weighed 2.3g so I’m assuming it isn’t the better valued one, it is still in very good condition though as well..
There are a series of zinc pennies struck in 1982 both large and small date. I have the 2022 coin guide and it doesn’t even list any of the 1982 zinc Pennies
I found a 1982 D copper penny. Weights 3.04 and has doubling on the D mint mark. I was trying to find out would it be worth getting it graded? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Doubling on mint marks before 1990 are common because the mint marks we punched into the working die by hand and not a part of the master die. Check older Pennies and you’ll see many of the mint marks are misplaced and doubled.

Robert your 82 penny has to weigh 3.11 grams and really be a small date and have the D to be worth grading or a really nice example MS 68+ or the cost of grading it would be more than it's worth.
I have two 1982 pennies one mint condition of 68 and then I have run its Brown and they both weighed 3.7 grams and a one-way 3.10 G. How can I send a picture to you and do I need to get these graded before I try to sell them.
Hey Justin I need some advice. I have a 1982 D copper penny that weighs 3.1 grams. Not I need advice on is where to sell it. I enjoy watching your channel over most of the others having to do with money. Thanks
Thanks for watching! This video will help explain how to post images of your coins and a step by step process of how to sell your coins. th-cam.com/video/DaZMgjl02nQ/w-d-xo.html
Zinc pennies weigh 2.5 grams, copper pennies weigh 3.11 The one 82 to really look for is the 82 D small date copper..or for that matter ANY penny after 82 that weighs over 3.0 grams would be valuable ..
Hey dude I really have one.. I've been going through all my pennies and all my coins separated by year and looking at the good years. I saw your video on the small date I even weighed it. It's in really good shape to. What do I do.? I'm afraid I'm going to lose it cuz I have shity luck like that.
That's a zinc penny that "silver" is more than likely zinc... also from reading comments I think you have to weigh it if it weighs more than 3 grams... I think its copper. Dont quote me tho cuz I'm not sure tbh I'm just trying to get info from the comments
I have a small date 1982-D penny but I can’t tell how much it’s worth. I’ve been searching around and I see that zinc pennies and copper pennies are worth different amounts. How do I tell if it’s zinc or copper?
just weigh them.....I have 2 myself and they weigh 2.5 so are zinc.......if the weigh is 3.0 or more then they are copper.......just buy a small scale.
both of your 1982 penny videos seem to only tell us that there are in-fact 1982 pennies. i have a pile of them and i'm trying to figure out if i should keep any of them. if you could point me in the right direction, i would greatly appreciate it. thank you ☻
I’m no expert but get an accurate scale one that can measure 1/10 grams and weigh them. The solid copper are around 3.2 grams. The others are lighter but I don’t know their weights. Good luck. I found a 1982 small date Denver copper penny today. I always look through my coins and keep anything old or unique. When I saw the date I remember that there’s something odd with the 1982 pennies. And then I found this video. I hope mine is a good one and hopefully you will have some keepers in your stash.
Will I have to weigh them to tell the difference in zinc or copper? What kind of scale would I need? I have a lot of them I haven’t put them in a coin book until I know the difference. HELP!
Hey bud , I have a 1981 almost flawless penny that I just got at the gas station . It had to of been in someone's collection . It doesn't look to have any ware on it and shines like a Mofacky . I'll have to look what mint mark it has . Is there any 1981's that are worth any thing . I would say it is In the high 60's for grading . thank s. Roger in Grantsburg Wisconsin
Cool thanks Bud. I would love to see if it is worth anything cause it is SO FRICK N CLEAN. I also have a 3¢ nickel ! Its a 1865 in very good shape for its age . That I got at the gas station also .
I think the mints switched to zinc early on in 1982. Do you know how many were made of copper and of zinc that year. I have found alot of zinc ones but only one copper. Duane S.

I guess we have to join membership to send you a photo. My husband and I are wrapping 30 years of change. We have found some interesting coins. One is a dime. It had the normal back but front is mostly smooth and blank. You can see the faint outline of Roosevelt head. Nothing else. It’s the color that’s unusual. It’s silver but the edges have a copper color border blending with the silver. Not sure if this is of any value. No date. Can’t find one line it exactly online. We also came across 3 Sacajawea dollars. Two are D mint. But one is P mint. When it says to look at enhanced tail feathers not sure as it looks like D coins. We also came across 1969, 1982, 1983, 1975 no mint, 1955 wheat, and 1939 nickel. We are just starting to sort the pennies next week. If I join the silver membership can I then send you photos? We live in an isolated island in S. Alaska. No coin or pawn shop here. It seems very difficult to contact all TH-cam coin people.

I have over 42, 1982 pennies in many different varieties and conditions. From the past three years my cherry picking of coins and currency exchange and coin roll hunting. Most are very, very extremely fine conditions. Most have small date and lot of them have DDO errors on them also -!!all our solid copper weighing over 3.1 g. I have a few examples that are not copper. Also, if anyone is interested in this, please let me know or if anyone has any suggestions of what I should do with them. Let me know that also please.

I have a 1882 large date penny that has a really pretty red hue to it. Actually it shines up nicely with a polishing cloth..it also has a bleed through (it seems) of the columns from the reverse side of the coin to the obverse side of the coin. There are two columns I can see to the right of Lincolns head. Also on the reverse side of the coin in the bottom letters..the "ONE CENT" letters fades out on the "E CE" and those letters run really close to the rim. Also the initials that are suppose to be on the reverse side at the right bottom of steps are not there..there seems to be a little error (like a tiny little clob) there but definitely not letters.. Theres alot going on with this coin I know and sorry no photo but based on what I have said does it sound rare or valuable to you?? Thanks for any return comments!!
