    Thank you for the video. I just bought my own MC 5 cu.ft. deep freezer. I came here hoping to see how to adjust the feet before I hurt myself trying to look under the freezer. Glad I did! Yours is a tiny bit better than mine because your baskets are wire while mine are plastic.

    2 years too late but. I would not recommend plugging any freezer into the GFCI receptacle in your garage. For a reason GFCI receptacles will trip alot more than a circuit breaker. Recommend a dedicated 120/20 amp receptacle. Plugging it into your washing machine receptacle would be better if you do not want to pay to a dedicated receptacle. Plug it in and wash clothes like you normally do. Turn your unit to its coldest setting so the compressor runs while washing. If your breaker does not trip you are good to go. If it does trip get yourself a dedicated receptacle.

    I have a couple questions I bought a magic chef today, 5 cubic feet in NYS HD it cost $2
    1. In the owners manual it came with a plug what is that for?
    2. Underneath the freezer I noticed a blue film with glue like substance stuck to the blue film. What is that for?

    • @LongshoresOutdoors
      @LongshoresOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      1. There are 2 plugs. One is already installed. You should see a drain plug on the exterior (from the front) bottom left. And a second plug i think is on the floor inside the chest freezer itself.
      2. The blue film might be a protective film from the manufacturer. It it’s underneath then I would not worry about taking it off. No one will see it.
      Hope this helps. Sorry if it does not.
      Cheers! 🍻

    • @LongshoresOutdoors
      @LongshoresOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No I’m sorry I do not. However, I have had to defrost the freezer only one time. It was very simple and straight forward. Main point of acknowledgment is the plug on the bottom left corner of the chest freezer. Simple unplug your freezer after removing any frozen goods, allow 12-24 hours to pass, unscrew the outside plug and allow the defrost ice to chest drain out, and flush the inside with warm/hot water. Once completely drained, reinstall plug and wipe clean with a clean towel.

    Beware folks. Bought my 5.0 cu ft magic chef chest freezer 6/2021. Loved it. I filled it with food before recession hit. I LOST $800 worth of meat June 2022. Green light still on so I thought it was working. Sat in my kitchen and I didn't open often, maybe once every 2 wks. Also paid for rental truck and straps to bring it home so out over $1100+. Called mfr'r; they immed said "probably the compresser". They obviously knew they had compressor problems. Looks like a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. The mfr'r was no help. Whe I opened, the stench of rotten food was overpowering. Had to have it all hauled away. Another $65!
