    i remember many of these places fondly. born in 1980 in wichita, lived there till 96. Still visit family there regularly, live in manhattan now. I remember when the Palace opened up, it was so cool. i used to find change on the street to go there, one time it was all pennies. 125 of em, me and my neighbor both!

    Wichita had a good trend with movie theaters. With the Miller with all of the winding hallways and interior decoration the uptown with the giant screen and 6 track stereo sound cinerama the sunset with the parlor my sister liked the high ratio of screen size to auditorium wide panavision screen then came the westway cinema shoebox buttafuoco wave smaller screens dimmer three times the price half the experience. In Seattle bill gates partner saved a conerama theater that was about to be destroyed. I wish that had happened on wichita.

    I used to make a lot of money installing VCRs just about the time these "art houses" started closing down Hmm I wonder what happened there.
