For those using utility trailers, consider repacking your bearings with waterproof grease. Also bearing buddies are a great/cheap addition to be able to add new grease when needed.
Thanks for making these videos. I have learned a lot. I am new and not an expert but one thing I was wondering, is it worth making a quick video to show how to properly winch a boat onto the trailer so people aren’t pulling by the front d ring?
I had a utility trailer already; so when I decided to get a raft I was set on that. But check the width of the raft you want to buy if you already have the trailer otherwise you are going to have to put a deck on the rails. Mine slides in with 2-3" to spare.
Look into installing a roller on the front edge of trailer so the winch strap can roll on it instead of scrapping on trailer lip. Broken strap would suck at a remote launch
I’m about to acquire a trailer from my father in law so I don’t have to load my kayaks on my suv roof. Getting older snd it deters me from getting out on the water having to move my kayaks from top of vehicle. I know I’m old as I’m excited to be able to modify the trailer to make my life easier.
Would two small "bunks" at the end of the trailer work instead of the poles to direct the boat onto the trailer when solo? Wondered if the poles would catch things hanging over the side. Could be made to be removeable for launching.
No sink tip line??? Would sinking polyleader do the trick or is there something bad about it. I don't have a raft but even I found this interesting, though am looking forward to more trout 😉
If you could leave the name or a link to that chaterbait fly id love to give one a try but i seem to only be finding the normal one. I fish alot of stained water in ny and seem to always been in that same situation your in and end up giving up on the fly rod
Fun Fact: Sac A Lait means bag of milk in french. There's only one place in the southern US where french slang is used. LA (Louisiana, not Los Angeles)
Should I be worried about making a ten hour road trip with my flycraft on a small trailer??? I'm worried about going on the interstate for long periods with the small tires.
I think Ben does a good job defending himself, but A) don't watch or follow the guy on youtube if you don't like him and B) I think Ben has curated a personality over the years of acting a bit pompous to mock how many people approach fly fishing to the point his attitude is more sarcastic. Go look at past videos he does the same thing while preaching that there are no rules in fly fishing and at the end of the day he's just a guy in youtube that makes videos about fishing
Those of us who've been with Ben for a while know he used to make a "I'M A HUGE SKIER" sticker. I messaged him once asking if he had any more and he told me he was out. Literally months later two showed up in the mail with a note saying he recently found some in the bottom of his glove box. I feel cared about and I don't know what you're talking about.
@@joemcnicholl4361 I think the point was if you have questions about the rollers and where to get them, here is the link, rather then 20 messages all asking about hey what roller is that, what size boat trailer is that, 20 messages asking about winch. Its all simple stuff to look up, and he put links, don't ask stupid questions about stuff already covered clearly in the video of what, where, and how to buy. Friggin snow flake took it personal.
If you’re saying sacalait you must be down here in Louisiana! 😂💪🏼

Ben, that intro is worth a lifetime of enjoyment! Well...at least a week!
Thanks for making this one. I'm currently modifying a 10 ft. Utility trailer for my 14 ft raft.
Chin up, I'm stuck here in WA waiting to use my new 3wt at end of May...
So much room for activities!
Nice , I like the tilt trailer. Crank the raft up , trailer comes down , put the pin in done ☑️
Cool Fisherman! Nice to meet you, useful channel!
You could put a motorcycle rack on the trailer and do your own shuttles. That would be huge.
Super huge
Love the idea of a lock box for spare key. No more worries about someone finding your keys and stealing your gear, or worse, making off with your rig.

I use the anchor rope. You can also put a yoke on the frame.
The fishing is ALWAYS good. The catching, maybe not so much.

So nice to see you are human, like the rest of us trying to be huge🤣
As a shuttle driver, THANK YOU! Hit me up if you're on the White River here in AR.
Steelhead season in the Great Lakes... keeping it classy with egg flies instead of beads.
It’s all about Shad run on Potomac!
Awesome
Meat whistles. Dark ones!
Is 8’6” width difficult to drive around? Any Ragrets 3 years later?
You need some cowen’s coyotes. Work on floating line.

I think bunks would work. I’m envisioning poles, but only a few inches tall.
How much does the new raft weigh?
No idea.
I like to go 90mph and fly my rafts like a kite!
Is it sustainable to get a 3/4 ton with a large flat bed? The areas I fish have private access but no ramps so mostly gravel beds as launches
Doable, but not ideal. You’ll need a skinny boat.
@@HugeFlyFisherman appreciated!
"If I can do this, so can you"
That's a lot of missing self confidence right there
back every monday... or sunday if there's enough beer involved
Roller bars save lives

Try Tailwaters Fly Shop in Dallas.

Most dad video
Great tip on lock box! Maybe should be at other end of trailer so as not to get wet when launching or loading.
Doesn’t matter if it gets wet. The front of the trailer gets douched by mud.
You don’t need a “chatterbait fly” you just need an actual chatterbait.
Can we get a “Use the Googles” coozie?
I second on this
Coulda put some lightning bolts on the trailer. That would have been nice.
Or you could put them on your boat trailer. Oh, wait...
@@HugeFlyFisherman That cut deep. Thanks, bro.
You are in Louisiana, I grew up there and have been around about 30 different states and Louisiana is the only place that calls them White Perch!
Cmmon sense from an uncommon source. lol
You ever need help guide n the raft on that trailer hit me up. @stayhuge

You’ll be fine, but you can’t go too fast. Check your tube pressure often with changes in temperature or elevation.
Stop posting on Sunday, I get scared that I miss my zoom
It’s Monday though.
Code to lockbox: 42069
I think that's Jaden's lock box code
Bring back that hair. I will start a petition

I googled, "Does Ben's boat have an official name?" and didn't get a clear answer...
Great that you quit calling it a 'boat'.
It’s still a boat.
@@HugeFlyFisherman It's a beach toy.
I have a question that Google will solve. DM sent
So what your saying is the bass fishing sucked0
Why you chasing bass in LA go get yourself on some reds or specks
If you live in the EU - dont try this.
