My first Ys game was Ys Origin. From there I acquired Celceta and then after that, the masterpiece that is Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - which I consider to be one of the greatest video games I've ever played. I can never say no to Ys.
Only played this on steam for 5 mins. Not because I didn't enjoy what I played, but because of my backlog on switch. Glad it's coming to switch though as i'm making switch my main gaming device keeping up with one backlog is proving a challenge already
You gotta grind and gain levels. Just a few can make a difference. After you gain a couple levels go back and save in case you die. Playing on easy fine. The bosses can be a bit much.
It has been an amazing time for Ys fans. We got Ys X, a FANTASTIC game that even rivals Ys 8 (never thought I would say such blasphemy) and now we're getting an update of another old classic to make the series even more accessible in the west. With the state of gaming as it has been in recent years, Falcom is one of the few remaining bastions of light for gamers. They genuinely put in the effort to not just make great games, but preserve the old ones and make them as accessible as possible down the line. They clearly love, respect, and listen to their fans, and that is so refreshing to see from a bigger gaming developer nowadays.
@JeannieLove I respectfully disagree. If she wasn't playable in the past segments, I would agree, but because she IS playable in the past segments, it builds up the excitement for maybe having her in the party later on. If the first time she was playable was when she joined the party, I would fully agree it took too long. As for the pacing, what do you mean? Genuinely, not argumentatively. I have 100%ed the game 5 different times while introducing it to 4 of my friends one on one and each of them seems to enjoy the slow burn effect, so I'm curious how you'd change the pacing.
@gagejoseph91 It's perspective. I was looking forward to playing as Dana within the party much sooner than she joins. It was the same reason I didn't enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles X as much as I wanted, they took away something I had planned for my character. The game play is awesome though.
@@gagejoseph91 There are people who don't like the pacing in jrpg's in general. I think it's a different cultural thing where characters point out the obvious and make small talk. Someone tried to explain it like this: You, the player, see a ruin. Move forward and there's a cutscene showing you around the ruin. You move a bit further and another cutscene where the characters talk about the ruins being old. Continue on and another cutscene about how amazing the old ruin is, etc. More cutscenes about the ruins, treasures that might be there, etc. I'm used to it so maybe I don't notice it all that much but I guess others don't like it. Add in the fact that YS 8 is kinda slow in the beginning (Not that I mind) and i have seen some people bounce off it. YS X does worse job of it IMO. Even I don't want to NG+ it because the beginning ship sequences is painful to me.
Wow. Its vastly superior version over the SNES game. Theres a reason they did a remake. Enjoy. A;though the chiptunes from the Genesis and other version you can listen to are still great.

It was unbelievably frustrating to die all of the time (with the exception of the boss fight you show at the very beginning of the video, that took me only one try), but I got through it. I'm on a goal to collect as many physical copies of the Ys games that I can get, so I preordered this one.
"Ees" is the correct pronunciation. It's just hard to know the correct pronunciation because they rarely mention it after Ys 1&2, which are unvoiced in modern versions.
The games are so similar gameplay wise with combat,speed and platforming. I'd say if you like one you going to like the other. Both are a must play for fans if you ask me.
Thus is actually Y’s 3 from Super Nintendo and was ported to PlayStation 2 as Y’s wonders of Y’s there is also Y’s 4 mask of a sun a new theory and Y’s 5 lost kingdom Kevin of sand I believe so pretty much all 3 of those games wear on Super Nintendo and ported over to PS2 I have the ones on PS2 all 3 just don’t understand why they change the names and how about doing Y’S 7 for switch and people are talk that they want Y’s 5 port on switch or PS5 or PS4 I’m guessing

Hmmm. I think this and Origins holds up quite well after playing the newer games..Fast paced combat,great music ect. Plus a lot of fans prefer to just play Adol. I sill recommend new commers try Oath before the new installments.

I didn't like Ys 8 that much. Dana should have joined sooner and felt the pacing was bad.
