Whatever image duffle bags bring to mind, there’s no question that they’re a staple of the travel world. Their versatility, packability, and overall simplicity have endured the test of time.
But the duffle (also spelled duffel) is so much more than it used to be. Today, you can choose from massive duffles, waterproof duffles, duffles with wheels, duffles with backpack straps, laptop duffles, weekender duffles…In a world with so many options, how are you supposed to choose the right one? It’s easy to get lost in the duffle shuffle.
We’re going to break down the most popular styles of duffle, sharing what we like and dislike, and what to look for and what to avoid. We’ll discuss the considerations you should make before you buy, and we’ll recommend solid options for each category (tried and tested by us, of course).
We firmly believe that no one duffle will work for everyone. That’s why we’ve taken the time to write this entire guide-so you can find the duffle bag that works for you.

It's made of great material. The only downside I see off the back is if you wanted to be more.... covert.
You take an image of a man or woman and change only the garb of the day and location over say the last 100 (not saying you will live that long just using it as a point) years and depending on where and when you are that image means different things.
A lot of times in the same place. Ally, enemy, hero, or bully. will alter.
      Just a thought.

It can also be used as carryon by rolling the top making it a kinda 3 in one 35L, 45L and 65.

Hey Sam! Whether a duffle bag is the right fit for your work, does really depend on what type of work you do. If you like the function of a duffle, but want it to look a little smarter, then maybe something like the Aer Travel Duffel, the Tortuga Setout Duffle Bag, or even the Mission Workshop Transit Duffle could work.

I have several duffel bags , a Osprey trillium 30 which is very strong , thinking strong and beefy is best . Only to find out that not only is this mostly unnecessary, if only half full it remains very bulky. So my favourite is a very cheap no name brand thin nylon duffel that holds the same yet weighs less , but the main advantage i find is much more squishy and conforms to your body much better , or the boot / trunk of a car . So the expensive bags look the part , i find the cheap thin bags are much easier to live with , down side is the zip is poor .

The new guideline is, you're allowed to take one bag not more 15lbs. If carrying two bags, both together should weigh 15lbs. Most of the right sized carryon suit cases're 7lbs. Duffle bag is a good idea but you have carry with one hand or one shoulder which may make you tired(but looks very manly). Backpack(a good one) may weigh is 2lbs onwards(easy to organize). You tell me which one suits you !!!

You are trying to be extremely objective, but this doesn’t help me. Can’t you recommend any bags for certain purposes? What’s your favorite gym bag? I could afford any bag, but I don’t want to buy and own every bag on the planet for space issues....

    • @kiatography22
      @kiatography22 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Bag reviewers are typically, as you mention, as objective as possible because they rarely endorse one over the other. This is especially true for bags, where it is so subjective to each and everyone's unique requirements, body shape and use case. Videos which recommend one over the other are typically sponsored by the ones they choose from and the video is thus, a unfair one, and trust me, sometimes, they don't reveal that they are sponsored.
This video has introduced you to some duffels out in the market and its on you to research in-depth on the different duffels, most of which has been reviewed on its own by the team over at PackHacker (check out their website). You should then try out the ones which sparked your attention and try. The perfect bag for me may not be the one for you.
For example, i have a gym right beside my office and thus, i do not need to carry any spare shoes or carry my laptop to/fro inside my gym bag because i have my own office space beside the gym. Thus, a small backpack will suffice as my "gym bag". It may not work for you because you may need to carry your textbooks or laptop. Also, perhaps your gym consists of water activities which may mean you need a water-resistant compartment? Or perhaps you gym involves some boxing and thus, you need some external hooks to hook your boxing gloves?

@@jopi24johannes I use the Standard Duffle from The Brown Buffalo everytime I travel and I love it. The liner material is a super smooth waterproof laminated material that is really nice to the touch. It has two little mesh pouch pocket things at the ends on the inside. The strap is also super smooth like a seatbelt material too so it is nice to the touch.
The bag will hold its shape empty and the bottom is a waterproof material also.
Durable materials and 100% made in the USA

My favorite gym bags are the Nike basketball backpacks because of the separate shoe compartments. As well as the project rock duffle bag, its massive tons of compartments and made out of quality materials.

The only problem is that none of the bags shown are duffel bags.
Definition: a cylindrical canvas bag closed by a drawstring and carried over the shoulder.

That's kind of old school though, they are definitely reviewing what most people now think of as a duffel bag.

@@towncallednevers That's all very well, but language is a contract between those who speak it. If everyone just starts redefining words ad-liberatum, then language simply ceases to function.
