Now we need to let this man set up a tea tasting for y'all. At this point I feel like we'd all watch even with no whiskey and he deserves his revenge lol.
This is my first ever comment I’ve watched a lot of there stuff and She’s great and all but they brought on a special guest and wellll she took the special out of it
Nice! So-Han always has the most interesting descriptions of flavors. One of my favorite guests you have on the channel, together with Tim from Cigars Daily.
So-han’s balloon description of Stagg Jr is what we call plastic balloon in the Philippines. I get that note from a lot of bourbons. Bold flavors? A’bunadh, Glendronach 18 & 21

I hope you keep bringing him back. For me, he has become as much of a unique addition to the channel as Briana. And we need two things now: 1.) An hour long video of Daniel and So-Han nerding out about flavor profiles 2.) A collab where So-Han introduces you to tea.
I like the episodes with So-Han. Different palate training makes for a unique whiskey perspective. Also slowly watching Rex get a little more flushed with each glass is fun
Love this episode!!! After the tea episode, I booked an experience with my wife with So-Han, such a great experience at the West China Tea shop here in Austin. I love the collaboration with these two companies! The artisanship is what I love about all of this! Ugh, I love the whiskey tribe and have not even made the 10 min trip to you guy even though I watch you regularly. The shame 🤦🏻♂️ We have no choice!!
I recently tried one called Ole Smoky 60 proof from Gatlinburg, TN a salted carmel flavored whiskey. Very smooth with a bite at the end but the flavor is the most spot on.
I would be interested to see you guys collab with So-Han and try to do some tea leaves aged in whiskey barrels. Is that a thing? If not then it out, might be cool!
Mackmyra (Sweden) released a Whisky ca. two years ago, which was aged in a Barrel with green tea leaves from Japan. Iowas really good and interesting/unconventional.
I’m an introvert from the northeast USA that is afraid of flying and doesn’t drink much whiskey, but you guys still make me want to hop on a plane and hang out for some whiskey tasting.. cheers
This might be an esoteric question: On October 12, 2019 you visited Irene Tan co-owner of Brooklyn North East Wine and Spirits. I believe the title was: 8 things whisk(e)y drinkers dislike about liquor stores. Okay, more set up before the actually question...I live in a small town in Indiana which has a chain of liquor stores called SaveOn Liquors. I am an avid scotch drinker so I visits these stores frequently. Now to the question...Recently, I have noticed most of the stores have tip jars on the counter: How do you feel about that? My scotch is behind the counter....so very little inter personal connection there,. Just curious.
Poured some PCHP and when Rex said cheese, it went from a briney moss to Halloumi or feta cheese. The peat quality makes this one of my favorite whiskeys of all time.
Opened my Balcones Brimstone bottle for this and oh man... it's delicious! When I first heard about it here, about it being so intense I was a bit hesitant on trying it but I was curious. I recently bought a bottle and now trying it... It for sure is intense, the right kind of intense. So much flavor it's incredible! Cheers!
Brimstone always tastes like Sassafras root, or root beer to me in a very good way. I love to make a spicy julep with Brimstone, mint, and chili syrup.
Spring44 Single Malt! Not my favorite bottle but it's the only bottle that kicked my peathead ass the first time I had it. American peated single malt. I don't know what kind of peat they used but the burring tires smell was so intense, it make the Brimstones I had right before it tasted like a water down speyside.
Port Charlotte is by far one of my favorites but look into the Islay Barley specifically. The salt from sea on the barley REALLY comes through in the scotch and it's amazing. By far my favorite scotch (baring special release stuff)
Definitely Ardbeg Corryvreckan but would add Strongest from New Basin Distillery in Oregon, 136 proof. I also recently bought a bottle of Port Charlotte, and wow! It's amazing.
Brianna.your're rocking it! I Always differ to the "honest " opinion of the XX chromosomes about asthetics and taste. I don't know nothing but I bought every cask strength official bottle of single malt I came across except Highland Park. As I was on that journey for a while I remembered the value of properly aged Scotch. That leads us to cask strength independent bottles. Corryvrecken is pretty hardcore Thank God Balcones likes 53%+. So let me get this straight...not all bourbon is over 60% ABV???? oh yeah..the Turkey is 50.5%
Just purchased an Original Grain Whiskey wood ring! Thank you for the TRIBE code!!!! You guys are awesome and I've been watching your videos since the start!
For me, one of the most hardcore whiskey’s 🥃 has to be San Diego Peated whiskey. It may only be around 55% ABV, but the peat flavors really take you through a journey.
How about Cali Riptide Rye. I and my wife, both find it very aggressive but smooth. The strong flavor overpowers the ethanol. I wouldn't describe Port Charlotte as "Hardcore". I guess I don't understand what that means. I thought it was very smooth and flavorful. However, I prefer Uigedal (yeah, I know that is spelled wrong) at the same price point, and I actually prefer the Classic Laddie (with a couple of drops of water to waken it up) as a better buy.
Just got a 3 set of Markers Mark cask strength. Haven’t had a cask strength before, so excited to see how those are. All you Magnificent Bastards - any bourbon distillery’s around Ft. Worth, Tx or along the way from Omaha, NE I should keep an eye out for? Going down in about a month!
I'd love to see you guys try and brew/distill something from Bolthouse Farms C-Boost drink. It's fruit puree and a few added vitamins, with plenty of sugar for yeast to chew on.

I think a good whiskey for So-Han to try would be Willet with the really cool bottle. When I tried it I got a princess grey tea flavor. Also maybe try the tea trick with him that you made an episode about so long ago.
Most SMWS (Scotch Malt Whisky Society) bottles are between 50-60% ABV (between 100 and 120 proof). Some of the bottles can be quite hard core, very complex on flavors and aroma.

Haven't found a scotch yet that i didnt get a medicinal flavor from except monkey shoulder and mostly a musty flavor from that but not in a bad way more in and old book or Old Library way. I love old books. Kendal sux
Try Glenmorangie Lasanta. It is sherry finished but it is important how you drink it. If you drink it right after pouring, it tastes pretty generic. Let it sit for about 15 minites after pouring and it turns to candy!
Absolutely mortified to hear all three describe Port Charlotte as cheesy! I love both cheese and whisk(e)y but do not ever want to think about cheddar when enjoying my dear Port Charlotte
Considering they included a non whiskey in the episode. The most hardcore you can get is Malort. But for whiskey, I'd say Octomore. Also, Ardbeg Scorch is like licking the inside of a barrel.
I poured my dad a dram of Ardbeg 10 after he said he was getting into scotch, I said this is a unique region of whiskey that you may or may not like. It's very very bold. He took a sniff and said "It smells like a dirty ashtray, or a bbq pit that's never been cleaned." He took a sip with little reaction and said "It tastes like I licked that dirty ashtray. WTF did you give me, it's getting worse, did you roast seaweed and infuse that?"
3:40 Imagine you´re an angel, hovering over a Kentucky distillery for the first time. You´re the kind of angel who likes getting high on alcohol fumes. You watch the barrels being moved into the warehouse. One week later it´s 5 o´clock on a good sweltering hor day of the Lord, and you´re ready for your fix. You roll onto your side on that cloud you´re hanging out on, and you take a sniff. You frown and try again. As it´s only water vapour, you fly away from the US and vow "Never again, in nomine patri et filii et spiritu sancti. Except the spiritus sanctus is definitely not here!!"

Agreed! Next dry week they should delve into some deep tea tastings
@@timnone2924 I actually went and watched some of So Han's tea vids and he goes every bit as deep on Chinese tea as Daniel can go on Scotch.
That’d be a fantastic dry week episode!
Hmmm...yes. somehow it may wind up does Whiskey pair with Tea?
Can you imagine them trying Scottish Breakfast Tea? Malty goodness in a mug.
13:53 Briana's complete lack of a filter is absolutely what is so wonderful about her
Like a perky April Ludgate.
That part made me laugh so much
I fucking laughed so hard at this scene. I watched it on repeat for like 5 minutes laughing so hard I almost fell off my chair.
idk she seems like a spaz, would probably start tearing my hair out after 5 minutes
so many thirsty bois simping.
Maybe it's just me, but Brianna seems to be the taste master here. She led the way and offered the most flavor suggestions.
She's grown

I'm glad that Briana is part of the crew. Not only are her insights as a person who is not an expert interesting but she is also freaking hilarious.

13:53 BRIANA!!!!....you KILL me with those faces! Too funny.....dont ever stop having her on your show!
So-han’s balloon description of Stagg Jr is what we call plastic balloon in the Philippines. I get that note from a lot of bourbons.

1.) An hour long video of Daniel and So-Han nerding out about flavor profiles

So-Han running a thing with some weird teas would be great, watch Brianna bounce off the walls after drinking some Pu-erh.

I love it when you have So-Han on (that rhymed!). He's such a cool, intellectual guy! Brianna always rocks.
So-Han and Briana have the best palates of anyone ever on this channel. Have them on together as often as possible.
3 months into my whiskey journey I bought a bottle of Brimstone and it is one of my favorite whiskey's.
