Wie ich bereits in einem Kommentar zu einem anderen Video erwähnt habe, habe ich letzten Oktober unverhofft die Diversion XJ 600 BJ '92 mit ca. 52 000 km und 61 PS geschenkt bekommen. Ich habe meinen A-Schein letzen Sommer (August) mit 36 Jahren gemacht, nach einer 18-jährigen Motorradpause (A1 mit 16). Der Vater eines Kumpels hat das mitbekommen und da er bereits vor über fünf Jahren beschlossen hatte, dass er nicht mehr fahren will, hat er angeboten, mir das Motorrad gegen einer Flasche Champagner und Selbsabholung zu schenken. Ich fand das Motorrad am Anfang optisch so wenig ansprechend, dass ich kurz überlegen musste, ob ich das Geschenk überhaupt annehme (zumal, dass ich das Modell nicht kannte). ^^ Als ich dann doch zugesagt habe, musste ich feststellen, dass die grüne Diva samt Seitenkoffer und Topcase in einem SUPER Zustand ist. Selbsverständlich war der Vergaser fällig. Eine Inverstition i.H.v. ca. 160 Euro bei Wömbi für original Keyster Überholungssatz und 0,7 Arbeitstage später lief die Maschine wie eine 1. Den TÜV habe ich noch vor der Reparatur auf Anhieb ohne Mängel bekommen. Vor der Diversion bin ich nur mein Fahrschulmotorrad Suzi SV650 und meinen umgebauten Kawasaki KZ 750 Cafe Bobber NJ '83 gefahren. Die Kawa ist typisch für so einen Umbau abartig unbequem und schwer zu handhaben. Als ich dann die ersten Male auf der Diversion gesessen bin, dachte ich mir, etwas stimmt nicht, weil sie so wahnsinnig bequem und leicht zu handhaben ist. Obwohl ich meine Kawa liebe, greife ich jedes mal zu der Diversion, wenn ich irgenwo hin muss. Man kann es so zusammenfassen, dass ich mit der Kawa gerne ankomme, aber lieber mit der DIversion hinfahre.
Aus diesem Grund habe ich beschlossen der Diversion eine Chance zu geben. Ich habe über dem Winter neben einigen Ersatzeilen auf Vorrat, auch Progressivfedern, dickers Gabelöl, Stahlflex Bremsleitungen, K&N Öl- und Luftfilter, Kettensatz samt beiden Ritzel und einen DynoJets Stage 1+3 Kit bestellt. Neue Ansaugstutzen und ALLE Vergaserinnereien sind bereits drauf. Anfang März bekommt die Diva ein komplettes Makeover mit all den genannten Teilen, dazu kommen noch neue Reifen, Ventilspielprüfung/-einstellung und feinjustierung des Vergasers (CO-Tester, Synchrontester und Ultraschallbad). Darüber hinaus möchte ich die nicht funktionierenden Heizgriffe reparieren, USB nachrüsten und versuchen die unschön klappernde Verkleidung irgendwie zu dämmen. Sollte sie sich nach all den Maßnahmen (vor Allem Progressivfedern und K&N + Dynojet Stage1) gut schlagen, verkaufe ich die Kawa und bleibe die eine oder andere Saison nur mit der Yamaha, bis ich ein bisschen Erfahrung gesammelt habe und weiß, welches Motorrad ich als nächstes will (wollte eigentlich vor dem "Geschenk" eine Kawa ZX6R 636 c oder eher die Honda CBR 600 F PC41).
Alles in Allem habe ich samt Champagner und Anhängermiete für die Abholung ca. 675 Euro für das Motorrad ausgegeben (selbsverständlich alle Arbeiten selbs erledigt "Haynes" sei dank). Ein besseres Preisleistungsverhältnis habe ich noch nie gesehen und auch wenn man am Anfang damit stürzen sollte, tut es der Brieftasche und dem Gewissen (hoffentlich nicht nur) viel weniger weh.

Vielen Dank für den ausführlichen Kommentar. Tatsächlich sitze ich grad an einem 1000 Kilometer Review. Was die nächsten Wochen erscheinen wird. Wo ich auch auf die optic mit dem Wind Schild und so eingehe. Ist zwar echt nicht schön. Aber wen man pendeln muss oder so will man es echt nicht missen.
Selber Schrauben fehlt mir leider im Moment noch das Geld für Werkzeuge, Platz und wissen. Aber vielleicht entwickelt sich das noch. In der Zukunft des TH-cam Kanals
I can confirm that although the XJ600 is NOT a sports bike there is however a way to get good acceleration and it will hold its own with larger bikes up to about 70 mph. Put the smallest sprocket on the front and the largest sprocket you can find on the back - put LUCAS with fully synthetic oil in the engine and put an oil cooler on......Use Iridium spark plugs and there is a black box you can install from the deep web to adjust your timing to improve performance. Now you have a sleeper......by day its like the girl next door - by night its the most energetic exotic dancer.
I had XJ600 for 5 years. Great bike with low fuel consumption. Enjoy on yours as I did on mine 🙋🇭🇷

@BrkićM zanima me kakav je to motor za svakodnevnu voznju, kolika mu je potrosnja, da li je to dobar početnički motor(za totalnog početnika) i da li neko sa 190cm i 95kg može udobno da se smesti na njemu? Hvala unapred
@@big_bear__ ja sam 185 i nisam imao problema. Motor troši manje od 5 l/100 km i odličan je za početnika jer ga je lako voziti. Nema previše snage ali sasvim dovoljno i za iskusnije motoriste. Otišao sam s njim do Škotske i natrag i nisam se pokočio 😂

Just to let you know that the XJ handles idling for a very long time without over-heating! It was designed to dissipate heat even when not moving. It gets hot! of course, but nothing to worry about. (Providing everything is ok with the engine and fuel system). To be honest I was a bit stressed at first in traffic, but after a while I forgot about it.
I'm considering this as a starter bike. Nice review too. Was gonna ask about the height/comfort level but found the comment. I'm 6'2'' and thinking if it gets annoying to ride.
I am 6.5. I am a bit to tall for this Maschine was still fine. All in all good starter bike.

Great review! Just came here because I am looking for one. Any idea how many km a Yamaha engine can run? Would 61.000 km be "normal" for a 1997 bike?
Actually those things run basically forever. Somewhere on the internet is a video where 2 mechanics take a xj 600 with 80000 miles on the clock apart. And they find barely any sine that the engine has been running for that long.
@@FreeMilesMC Nice! I pulled the trigger and bought a 1993 bike with just 16.000 km on the meter. Needs two new tires and is likely ready to be picked up next week :-) got a lot of motivation from your trip videos.

Well depends on how loud but a noticable clunk when going in to First is often there
@@FreeMilesMC its my first bike as I am still a beginner but it is noticeably louder than other bikes. My brother has a 1999 hornet and its not even close.

@@FreeMilesMC i got it two years ago and done about 14000 km on the clock without any issues. If you plan on goin on a longer cross europe trip take a look at the carbs before you go, because if they havent been maintained they can broke down very easily. And if you want to you can also take out the restrictor stuff, i ve had mine removed too
Yea actually having a problem with the carbs at the moment. My bike dos not start if it was standing for a few days. Do you know that issue. I thought I will just roll with it because it works with starter spray. And have a tight schedule till my trip to morroko
@@FreeMilesMC well it can be caused by a number of things. My best guess is that its either getting to much mixture or not enough. If you pull of the gas hose thats coming from the tap and goes to the fuel pump from the fuel taps side does gas freely flowing from the tap? Or is it not flowing? If its flowing then it means that your vacuum tap isnt working, however since there are also needle valves in your carburetor to prevent and overflow (while the bike is static and the tap is bad) it means that they are also need to be changed (because all that is causing a too rich mixture). But if your tap is working then most probably there is a blockage somewhere is your fuel system (too lean mixture). Keep in mind that if your carbs overflow while the bike is sitting then it is possible that gas leaks throu between the cylinfer wall and the piston into the oil pan, wich can thin out the oil thus damage the engine long term. So first step is to pull the hose from the tap and see if its flowing (be ready if it does), a small amount will be always coming out but it should stop pouring fairly quickly
@@norbert7297 it’s just dripping a little bit. I sadly don’t have that mutch knowledge on the hole mechanics side of it. I was looking trough a lot of forums online. Apparently the issue I am facing is quit common with this mashine also do to the week batterie. I will have a nother look at it befor my trip to Morocco and then decide if I will stick with my starter spray solution.
This is crazy, but in my country same bikes cost 2000-3000 euro depending on condition.
