    Deck building is one of my favourite mechanisms so I’d put Trains on the list but would love a new version with better components, possibly similar to the track pieces from Maglev Metro

      I love Trains, sad that AEG has killed it before I got a copy of Rising Sun

      I love Trains. It's actually the first game that got me into the board game hobby. But as fun as it is, it's really difficult to get people to play it because my god it's so ugly compared to modern games. Also the generic name... it's like "hey do you want to play Trains?" Which train game? "You know, just... Trains."
      Definitely a game highly deserving a rerelease.

    I would include Snowdonia somewhere near the top of my list. For me it has unique elements that no other train games include.

    Ticket to Ride is the must have game for all the reasons Vasel states but On the Underground is my favourite. I just love the mad routes the passenger takes to avoid walking.

  • @Alittlefruitgoesalongway
    @Alittlefruitgoesalongway 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ticket to ride is my favorite welcoming game. It's really fun and I have several different maps for it. They change up the setting and gameplay just enough to keep things interesting, but are also so simple to add you can teach the game while using just about any of them.

    I was sure 'Empyreal spells and steam' would find his way to your list (and it's supposed to be eligible since you do create networks there).

    Iberian Gauge, Foothills, Union Station. +1 for Maglev Metro, TTR, Snowdonia, & Trains. I'm going to go ahead and count Railroad Ink and Brass.. mostly bc they are mostly about network building w/trains...

  • @eliumeldritch
    @eliumeldritch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Tom, you need to try Railroad Revolution! You would love it. It's got worker placement, route and station building, and all that. But it has these fun chaining combos and you get to upgrade your workers to unlock better abilities. AND it's really easy to play (which is a little abnormal since it's from What's Your Game.). Unfortunately, it is beige for days, but on the table it works well... And it looks better than most train games out there. Knowing your tastes I really think you'd like it. I think it's one of the most underrated and overlooked games.

    My favorite train game has to be... Trains, the AEG game. It's just called Trains. Sure it's got a generic title, and basic components, and stock art visuals, and my god is that board ugly, but anyone who can look past all that knows Trains is one of the best deckbuilding, and best train games out there.
    It could really use a rerelease though.

      My family and I play the same way. We pay no attention to what each other are doing and don't try to block people just for the sake of it. In our opinion it is much more enjoyable this way. That's what's so great about this series is that you can be as serious and cutthroat as you want, it's still fun everytime!!

    My friends and I love the crayon train games. We have all the currently available maps, including a North Pole/Santa Claus map.
    Disappointed you didn't include Rail Baron / Boxcars on the list. Yes, there is a lot of dice rolling and luck in it but it's still fun, particularly after you've played it enough to understand the importance and value of the different rail lines. I often tell people it's Monopoly 2.0, but with real strategy.

Nope just play basic expected UK and France because those are the only two with a bit of expect mode in it.
