Congrats Darren for the successful concert.
I think they rehearsed this like face to face with the band only a week before the concert. And Darren was hosting everyday, going to Germany for a concert with Morissette, ASAP every Sunday, plus out of town shows one month before the concert so we were also wondering how the hell he managed to rehearsed everything with that 3 hour concert where he was also the host, the only rest was the wardrobe change and he was in EVERY PROD. (Like 30 songs I guess?!) Darren is not a human being. I think he performed more than 10 songs with choreography on top of that!
If you are wondering concert goers LOVED the performance because not everyday that we hear that type of arrangement. They also did the mash up with Sarah G’s Alam and Darren’s Bibitaw na in the same concert. By the way I was there and was mind blown and not yet moving on as of writing

Sold out and that day is the same day when Twice, IU, and another foreign artist had their concerts as well. Darren sure is a real deal in the OPM scene. ❤❤
If you know both songs, and a lot of Filipinos do because they're old songs, it is exciting to listen to a new arrangement.

I was there in his concert. Lyca really has an amazing voice. When she sing the high notes, I got goosebumps. They really both great singers 🤗🥰

Check darren and Sarah G performance they both slayed it.
Lyca was singing "Narito Ako" by Regine Velasquez, in Regine's key. Not a low song at all. The song was released in 1990. Even in her youth when her voice was small and almost childlike, Regine had virtually no trouble singing the low parts. If Lyca has problems with lows, it's probably more of a technical issue than a song/arrangement issue. In this particular performance, I feel she isn't as relaxed she should be.

Filipinos love those arrangements especially on concerts. And those who sings are inspired to practice it.😅 the song is about i am here waiting and the other is about moving forward. So they have to have their own world i guess.

I agree with your comments. It’s overkill that you lose the entertainment and harmony in the performance. These arrangers should bear in mind that these two artists are excellent performers that they do not need to showcase and prove their skills. We all know that they are both very talented that the arranger should have just focused on the vocal prowess, it’s merits and how to enhance it. Instead , they brought them backward.

It's good they are together again. Medyo may konting pitch issues ata ung kay lyca. C darren medyo gustong mag change to a higher key. Medyo bored ata sya sa lower notes. Nung nag counter harmony na not sure kung Narito Ako p rin b yun? Good ung ending, by the way.

For me, the climax when they sang together but different songs, didn't pay off for me, because I was too busy trying to find and hear the melodic lines of the songs. It took me out of the experience and lessened my enjoyment.
So for me, they didn't need to make it that hard, they both were very good.
For me, I'd rather lean towards a performance more enjoyable and accessible to people versus one showcasing the singer's skills and high degree of difficulty.
Of course, a balance is best.
Actually they did this for Darren Espanto’s fans who paid for the concert
They are both good singers but the arrangement of the songs ruined the momentum of the audience to be entertained during the part when they sung different song together...it's a disaster to the ears of the audience. The music arranger should have mashed up the songs then harmonized in the middle then at the end with matching PASABOG !😂

This kind of arrangement is very common especially during late 90's to late 2010's. I really don't like it. It's messy. It sounds like a vocal battle and not a harmonious duet. Only few artists can pull this off though.
