The video game plot is about 2 mercenaries who's mission is to defeat the evil regime in a rainforest/jungle. In the early 80's (era Lupe was born, and same era the Contra video game came out) there was a war in South America between the Sandinistas and the Contras (Contra means opposing force or against, such as contraband, contradict, contraceptive etc). The US Military subsidized this war unofficially by funding the opposing forces to the Nicaragua government in order to topple the leader and replace their president/dictator with someone more favorable to US politics. The video game is loosely based on the actual war.
