    One the best, most thoughtful and well-reasoned video reviews of the X-T2 I've ever seen. You captured perfectly and accurately why I love and use the Fuji X-system. With the X-T2 and it's fabulous Vertical Power Booster Grip, which turns the X-T2 into a *beast*, a mini Canon 1Dx, I can now sell my (literally) back-breaking pro Canon gear for my motorsports photojournalism work. While the Canon pro system of bodies and lenses is excellent, reliable, and durable, hauling those big, heavy, bulky bodies and even bigger, heavier, and bulkier lenses literally over hill and dale for over 14 years, my back literally cannot take it anymore. I shot my last pro race of 2016 with one small and light X-T2 with the booster grip and the excellent Fuji 100-400. Light and compact, this system outperformed my Canon system, and I didn't have to see my chiropractor after the event. The real issue for me with any full frame system is the big pro sports-focused lenses are still too damn big and heavy. From now on, it's shooting with my Fuji gear.

    I'm a film shooter at heart and when I first picked up an XT-2 I fell in love. Everything just gels so well with that mindset. And being able to use my vintage lenses is a huge plus for me.

    Like your calm voice. I totaly fall in love with the x-t2 to. i owned a lot of diffrent camera brands in the last years (even the Canon 1d MK IV / 5D MK III, Nikon D810 / D600 and so on..) but no one brought me so much joy for fotographie as the Fuji system. Love the oldscool dials, there so intuitiv... love the IQ out of it it beats the 1D MK IV even in low light anyday...

    What an intelligent and insightful review. You are a breath of fresh air my man.
    I'm an Xpro2 shooter myself and you picked, to my mind, the two best lenses Fuji have produced thus far. They are both exquisite in their form and function, producing consistently superb results whenever I use them. You're appreciation of the camera just getting out of the way is accurate and although it is comforting to be able to drill down through the menus, to be a long term user of a Fuji camera set to your personal preference is a joy.
    You definitely have a new subscriber.

    Just got the X-T2, in April of 2021, as an addition to my X-E2, and I'm loving it! I can't believe the corner-to-corner sharpness, even with the kit zoom lens, plenty of resolution for 20x30 prints. But more than anything, it's the feel of the camera - it just makes me want to go out and shoot. It's a camera (system) to fall in love with. My girlfriend is getting jealous.

    Nice review! Although I shoot a lot of low light situations where high ISO and the need for stabilization make something like the A7RII essential, I really admire the Fuji system. I don't think anybody makes as many high quality APS-C lenses as they do, and the look of the bodies with the old school controls are right up my alley.

    …"more work, more frustration, with less joy". These words used to contrast shooting with the X-T2 compared with other gear really speak to me. I own the X-T2 (and and X-T1) along with both the lenses he used plus a few others. Having shot with them enough to now really have developed a sense of the strong points and how to take advantage, I'm finding that the "joy" part of shooting is dampened a just a little by the fact that it's almost too easy. The 16mm f/1.4 lens is simply magic. A good problem to have, I suppose.

    I really enjoy your videos, and I agree with this one 100%. I am a very late adopter. I got my X-T2 a couple months ago. I have the 16mm f2.8 and the 35mm f2. They do me very well for my landscapes until I can afford a 10-24mm f4, which I will only need if I go to Iceland...which is on my bucket list. Anyway, the camera is a joy to shoot.

    Nice video, M. Blind Man :) For a blind man, you take some good shots ! haha Did you find your elephant, or do you keep arguing ??
    I am a happy owner of the Fujifilm XT2 for 9 month now, in addition (I should say upgrade) to my Lumix G7. I am blown away... I love the supreme built quality and the ergonomics : it's a camera you want to hold and use all the time. I love the image quality too, I shoot jpeg + raw : raw for backup and future proof and jpeg to play with the divine film simulation (velvia, acros, provia).
    Not to mention the glass quality : what good is a camera body without top quality glass ? Well, Fujifilm delivers there too ! I love the kit lens 18-55mm (probably the best kit lens you can find in the market !) and what about their primes...! I am just an amateur, so I immediately jumped in the f2 WR line up : the rate price/quality is fantastic.
    Finally, the custom service : I just started to think I had my XT2 well in hand when Fuji released the firmware update ! Boy, it's is like you get not just an upgraded camera, but a new one !! haha
    Sorry for the long post, I just can't stop writing about my beloved XT2 :)
    I will follow your work for now !

    Unfortunately i don't have the budget to buy this amazing camera, as i have to pay for my education first and foremost at the moment.
    Thus i started looking for the G85, however i just did not Like the experience of using it that much.
    So now i have decided to get the little sister of the XT-2, the X-T20.
    Even tho it might lack some features found in the G85, it just feels "right".
    Going to preorder it tomorrow, since my Store unfortunately doesnt have it at this point in time :)

      Invest in your education first : good move. I own the XT2 for 9 month now, I am sure the XT20 will deliver some excellent images too (same sensor and image processor). If you are on a budget, I suggest to invest in durable F2WR lenses (23mm f2, 35mm or 50mm): I believe new camera bodies are released every now and then, but you keep the glass all the way with you :)
      I wish you good fun and happy shooting with your XT20 !

    Important factors about how the camera connects to the mind and ideas, and the emotion with it when out in the field for fun or serious work. Yes others have reviewed this camera incorrectly even now after all this time, it's quite simply and very nice camera with a great understanding for quick resolution from Fuji to always update firm/w by user feedback, let's face it we don't get that from Nikon or Canon, we just get a newer version for more money with them. Hope London is going well, be sure to eat a Turkish kebab before you leave Heathrow or Gatwick after Camera Labs :)

    Love this review. The pics reminded me of my days in the newspaper game back in the mid 80's. Nikon FM2 and a few Nikkor lenses, no depth of field focusing only on your subject telling the story. Loved it.
    I think your typical shooter would struggle to understand the dials and numbers on top of the camera.... The XT-2 reminded me of the fully manual 35mm days. With the viewfinder level light meter. Geez..... I'm old....

    I've got an XPro1 that I love (quirks and all) and have been tempted by the XT2 and the XPro2. However, the video limitations within the Fuji ecosystem have me looking at the Olympus EM1 mkII, which while a smaller sensor, offers more video options, incredible stabilization and the high res shot mode that would be perfect for photographing my paintings for print. My biggest reservation is that it feels like more of a technical instrument, than a camera...especially alongside my XPro1 and the XT2. Have you had a chance to shoot with the EM1 II yet? If so, what are your impressions?

    You have completely covered my feeling on the X-T2. Question, I love low light dramatic street photography. What lenses would you recommend for street style at night with low light. I want to drop the ISO, increase shutter speed and try freeze motion more to remove motion blur of people walking.

      The Fujicrons - 23, 35 and 50 f/2s. For something a little more dramatic, I love the 16/1.4 and 56/1.2 bracketing these on either end.

Many folks have slept on it it's not as popular as Canon and NIKON yet it's color straight out of camera and dynamic range (even in it's compressed video format is unrivaled). Hi there, very nice overview video. This is exactly my POV about this camera also. There's always another camera to surpass it in technical specifications, but as a package, it just is another package, it's a real camera, very easy to fall in love with.
    The only thing I disagree is the last part about not shooting with the X-T2 because it was "not designed for it". The only reason I bought it is because it's an all around camera, and it takes beautiful video. It's important to be able to shoot both beautiful pictures and video with the same device. We can do it with smartphones, at the VERY LEAST we should be able to do it just as conveniently with mirrorless cameras. I'm really glad to see Fuji taking video seriously with it, but since they succeeded (in my opinion) it is also important for the users to also take them seriously as a video camera. I see no reason not to shoot such a video with the X-T2 itself.

    Your love letter to the Fuji X-T2 is perfect. I own the X100F and rely on it much of the time for street photography. However, over a year ago I happened to be in B&H Photo on 9th Avenue - what I regard as Mecca for photographers, and the X-T2 called my name.
    There was no sensible reason to answer the call ... and yet I did. The big buzz was all about the new X-T3, but I’m not interested in video - so the X-T2 was more appealing. I’m not keen about the kit lens, though the range covers most bets for street photography. Instead, I plunked down some more money for a 23mm lens and a very serious wrist strap.
    In a sense I have two street cameras that can operate the same, yet I have more reverence for the X-T2 than the X00F. I guess trust the lens and the sensor more.
    My question to you about the X-T2 (and the X100F, as well) goes to the issue of zone or spot metering for Autofocus. I want to minimize camera settings for street photography, and don’t want to bother with toggling the switch on the back. The Ricoh GR II is difficult to beat for street photography with its snap focus and “set it-and-forget it” P-mode ability … but the sensor is eclipsed by the Fuji system (the GR II) and the ability to utilize film simulations like Acros and Classic Chrome.
    Spot or zone? What do you say?
    Keep up the good work. The mix of sincerity, intelligence, grace, humanity and a voice of Zen calmness is a superb gift.

    Excellent review. What I like is that you review camera based on what the camera was designed to be and do and not instead of being stuck on technical snobberies. You do one of the most useful and fair reviews on youtube. I get a real feel for each camera you review. Refreshing.
    I am a happy Sony shooter but if I were in the market for a cropped sensor camera it would be the Fuji XT-2. I have even considered it for my travel and landscape photography but I am fixated in the

While others reviewers feel they need to put down and be destructive with their opinions you have chosen the best road, the one that truly helps and build people in choosing the right tool for their needs. Enjoyed the video very much:
    You've pretty much put into words what I love about the x-t2 (even though it took you 12 minutes 😊)
    Instead of rambling on about how intuitive it is to use; how what you see in the evf is 'zackly what you get & how it's like a 3rd eye, etc. etc....
    I'll just point 'em at this video.

    Hi, just watched your video and decided to go for an XT2, I'm 57 and used to fully manual screw on lenses on my Praktica and Yashica, same lenses on the pentax spotmatic. I now use a sony hx100v but I miss shooting manual, so this is t-he goal, after watching reviews, yours convinced me, I'm saving for a pair of primes and a 18-135 for travel only. Greetings from Mar del Plata, Argentina

    Love your video style, perfectly produced. Fuji should hire you ASAP. You are spot-on with the reasons fuji is such a great camera. Sold all my Canon gear and now use Fuji only. I have gone with the xpro-2 for all the same reasons you like the xt2. I went with the small F2 primes finding the focus speed and noise is much improved over the older glass..remarkable ( the 16mm is my exception -it's just too good of a lens). Fuji brings back the fun of photography I remember growing up with the early DSLR's.

    Fuji ( and Olympus ) are the only camera systems I've never personally shot extensively. However my understanding of Fujifilm and the XT2 in particular is that they are a "photographers" camera system. If money were not an issue I'd happily invest in the Fujifilm system sadly I've already invested enough in my principle system Nikon and secondary system Sony. Fuji have got the balance right across their system, their only shortfall currently is the same as Sony face, that of lack of fast telephoto primes ( although I'm sure they will come eventually ) 😃

    Great video. Like the style, the sheer frankness, and the unabashed emotion. I ditched my FF Nikon D750 and al my Nikon lenses to move to Fuji. It's so intuitive. As you said, the time from the idea of what you want to capture to getting the image is so easy and fast. Like the retro dials for the important things. Best decision I ever made, photographically. I'm a Fuji convert, after 42 years of shooting.

    • @PatriciaDavidsonPhotography
      @PatriciaDavidsonPhotography 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Beatmanbeat - Yes, I switched from Canon to Fujifilm. If you are now using Sony I'm curious why you want to switch to Fuji. I have many friends that love the Sony. It's so expensive to switch. I do love my X-T2 and looking forward to seeing what's around the corner with Fujifilm.

    • @beatmanbeat
      @beatmanbeat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patricia Davidson I do like the image quality but the list of things I don't like about sony a7ii is long. I loved how canon fits in my hand. sony's ergonomic, expensive lenses, battery life, and how the shutter has this horrible sound and lags. it's not a fun camera to use I guess. I keep going back to my canon 7d even though it is old and not taking sharp photos.

    • @PatriciaDavidsonPhotography
      @PatriciaDavidsonPhotography 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand what you are saying. I tried out the Sony and it wasn't right for me. Fujifilm cameras are a joy to use. I had the X-T1 which I really enjoyed and used more than my Canon 6D. When I bought the X-T2 is was so much better than the first version I sold it and continue to use the X-T2 because it's fun to use and the photos turn out great. I wish you much luck on whatever you decide. All the best ~ Patricia

    Hi, thanks for the great review, i make low cost Real Estate Video Walkthrough and we currently use the Lumix G5 that is an old camera. And now in 2017 we want to use a better camera to improve the image quality of our videos and I am undecided between the Panasonic GH5 and the Fujifilm X-T2. Which camera do you think that is better between the new GH5 and the Fuji XT-2 for the type of videos that we do. One important factor to me is that i need to spend the less amount of time possible doing Color Correction, Is true that the video footage from the XT-2 require less time in the computer doing color correction than the GH5 video footage ?
    Sorry for my english I'm using google translator.
    Regards,

    • @3BMEP
      @3BMEP  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The GH5 has in-body image stabilization which the XT2 doesn't. If you don't use a gimbal when you're doing walkthroughs, this would be a big improvement in production values. On the other hand, the XT2 has better autofocus. Both have excellent (though different) ergonomics; I'd argue that Fuji has a wider (and better priced) selection of lenses. My experience indicates that you can get great out-of-the-box color from either of them, but I WOULD give the nod to the Fuji in this regard. Let me know what you decide!
