It was awesome to meet you and your family on the trail. The 4Runner looks even more awesome in person. Thanks again for the patch and I'm looking forward to more videos.
Took my son up Crown King in our Jeep WJ about same time as your video - was blown away at how many UTV's were on the trail coming down. That trail has changed a lot over the last 19 years since my maiden voyage... don't think I'll be putting my 4runner through that abuse anytime soon. Enjoy Northern AZ over these next 5 months, & Southern AZ the rest! Welcome.
Hi, I just watched your video of the back way to Crown King. When we lived in Phoenix. Us guys, used to go off roading there a lot. It's probably my favorite trails up that road. And you pronounce Prescott like a buscuit. Hope this helps. Love your videos
Welcome to Arizona! Backway to CK is actually the trail the introduced me to the 4wheel environment, and I can say It's changed a whole bunch. Given what I've seen from it over the years, It's pretty ballsy to attempt it with only one vehicle, and I mean that as a compliment. Anyways, lots of crazy trails and cool places here, so welcome!
Its Preskit. Welcome to Arizona. My buddies family was part of the first people to settle at Crown King. You'll see his name all over town, Grant Vantilborg
Nice video, its a fun trail for sure. We just went up there with a group of 11 vehicles, it was the first time I've run that trail too and in my new Rubicon. Keep the vid's coming.
It is awesome to see you guys back on track. Love watching your adventures. We'll get to overlanding soon but down here in Florida is not as challenging as Arizona.
Welcome to AZ. I'm in Gilbert. Just got a Gen 3 and my lift is on its way. You guys wanna hang out at the pool and barbQ after doing some east valley trails like Coke Ovens or Bulldog Canyon etc. Let me know. There's also Box Canyon, near the Coke Ovens or rather on the way there. The easy stuff yet scenic like Montana mountains near globe.
Keep up the videos, you are a family inspiration to do family solo trips, good luck in AZ we lived there for a few years and make a trip there every year would love to meet up and pick your mind on family overlanding. I'm trying to get my girls out as much as possible.
+MattDaddyJK88 Thanks! We will definitely stay after the video editing now that things are settling in. Feel free to email us if you ever have any overland questions! Hope to see you on the trail.
talk about a pucker at 5:40!! holy shit my seats would have been stained!!! I have done this trail and it is one of the most narly trails that is only a short drive
Great video! New subscriber getting my larger than average family into overlanding. We are up in Preskitt (the correct pronunciation). Look forward to getting together with you guys. Thanks for the video.
3:05 to 3:19.sk yourself. How did they do it? Think about it.These guys risk there life for the making of this video. Also please watch 3:05 to 3:19 . What incredible 4x4 skills. Just incredible skills. Thanks for sharing such a talent and also the making of this very dangerous video. Unbelievable you survived. Your skills pulled you threw. The music also tells the tale of how they barely survived this whole ordeal.
Awesome Video. Love your Life of adventure. I have been talking to turtle Back Trailers and will be buying one in the spring. What type of mounts do you use in your rig to hold your tablet and other devices?
+Ben Knorpp Thanks for watching! Hope to see you in a Turtleback soon. Here's the video for our device mounts: th-cam.com/video/WZjNYsk4by8/w-d-xo.html
I told my wife about you guys and showed her and out daughter your videos. Can you inform me what all have been done to your rig. It looks awesome and super capable. Thank you
+Big Daddy Khmer Tiger Here's a link to our build: www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/lifestyle-overland-2014-4runner-build.59/ Honestly though, a stock 4runner with good tires will go 95% of the places we go today. Super capable rig.
Judging by the lovebirds chirping you either started near Sunnyslope... how close am I? ;) Excellent vid. I love this road and I am very happy its so close by.
Hey guys! Lol, I think the harder you worked to get to them, the better the burgers taste! Looked like a great day! Thanks for bringing us along! p.s.What is that top on your fj, and where can I get info on them?
Great video! I too live in Phoenix and am trying to get started in overlanding. My kids and I love being out doors. I'd love to hear some tips or meet up some time.
+Abram Joslin Thanks for watching! So cool to see more families getting out. Feel free to email us if you have any questions. We hope to schedule a group event in the near future!
Abram, you're in a great place - no matter which direction you go there's great adventure for the family here. Hopefully you've gotten some trail guide books to get started.
Great video for a great trip. You and I have the same bumpers from SSO. Did you have yours painted or powder coated? I can't find anyone to match the powder coat to my OEM color.
+Josh Bartlett We had ours powder coated. Color match from body paint to powder coat is a tough process to get 100% right but can be done. I have a source in Phoenix who can do it. We just picked a standard silver powder and it matches up close enough.
Lifestyle Overland looking forward to it! Not sure what side of the valley you’re in. I’m in the SE valley-Gilbert. So hope to see you all on a trail soon.
That video should have been called Burgers and Yummy Stuff the Hard Way! I alway enjoy your videos and congratulations on the new job! What a neat fit! You girls’ wheeling togs are priceless! Oh, and I’ll have a burger with everything, a Coke, an cherry pie ala mode. 😉
You asked "What did we miss?" You neglected to describe the EPIC view/possible campsite next to a massive mineshaft on one of the switchbacks down the front way (soupy-sand one lane road) returning from Crown King. "Oh hey look honey, it's Phoenix. Way DOWN there".
+Robert Morrison Funny story, yes we have a front locker... No, we didn't use it because I haven't routed the airline yet. This was rear locker and A-Trac, no crawl control (can't stand the noise).
Lifestyle Overland thanks for the reply! I’m more and more impressed with A-Trac. It seems to be on par with Jeep’s traction control system at the very least. Looks like y’all had a lot of fun!

As always.....Great video....
+Daryl Brookins Thanks so much!
What camera /lens were you using to video the Horned Toad at 8:01? Great trip log. Been living here in Scottsdale since '71!
I think you would benefit from some front sway bar disconnects, it will be much more stable and won't spring back like it was when on 3 wheels
+theninja001 I hear ya, so many mods and so little money and time now! Thanks.
Sorry I don't know Mrs overlands name but ROCK ON love watching you drive. Fingers crossed I can get my wife to like overlanding much less drive it!
Hey guys!
Lol, I think the harder you worked to get to them, the better the burgers taste!
Looked like a great day!
Thanks for bringing us along!

Cool you’re in AZ now. Make sure to carry some extra T-shirts for sale so I can have a reason to stop you on the trails out here. ✌🏻
+AZ TACOMA We've got a stash of patches we carry with us for sharing! T-shirts are on the website with free shipping!
Lifestyle Overland looking forward to it! Not sure what side of the valley you’re in. I’m in the SE valley-Gilbert. So hope to see you all on a trail soon.
I bet 5:25 was a pucker moment!
+Revere Overland It got my adrenaline pumping a little bit ! 😜
I will watch full eposide.
+Bill Sprague Haha, yes it would have been a good title! Thanks so much for the support, Bill!
Another perfect video . By the way, you don't need to put makeup . you are a natural beauty
+Dennis Idnay Thanks man! Sarah says, "aw shucks, thanks Dennis". 😎
Thanks again.
+Dusty Bull Thank you!
You asked "What did we miss?" You neglected to describe the EPIC view/possible campsite next to a massive mineshaft on one of the switchbacks down the front way (soupy-sand one lane road) returning from Crown King. "Oh hey look honey, it's Phoenix. Way DOWN there".
Just so viewers know, There are more than one way to Crown King. The easiest is one that a careful care driver can negotiate. Otherwise, great video!
Did y’all put a front locker on there, or was that crawl control going to work?
+Robert Morrison Funny story, yes we have a front locker... No, we didn't use it because I haven't routed the airline yet. This was rear locker and A-Trac, no crawl control (can't stand the noise).
Lifestyle Overland thanks for the reply! I’m more and more impressed with A-Trac. It seems to be on par with Jeep’s traction control system at the very least. Looks like y’all had a lot of fun!
+Robert Morrison We are super impressed. It also has multi-terrain selection so you can refine how it responds to different situations.
What cell phone/ipad holder are you using? I have seen that in a few overlanding videos browsing around and it seems pretty popular. Thanks!
+bretterice Here's a video with a link to the parts list on our blog too: th-cam.com/video/WZjNYsk4by8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching!
Would love to go on adventures with you guys
Trail reminds me of the rubricon to nv
Staun, what a great product

+Adventures in Overlanding Thanks!
Next time, take Old Senator HWY all the way from Crown King to Prescott!!!!
+singletrackftw It's on the list! Thanks for watching!
what are you spraying on the windows? also do you have issues with your wind/rain deflectors? I have had two sets now and they come loose and rattle...
+blair170 It's "Invisible Glass" cleaner. I carry it with us to clean along the trail to keep that "HD" view.
Our deflectors are "ok" I wish I had just gone with the glue-on style though.
wow havent seen those tyre deflators in years mate, hey have you ever heard of a bloke called Roothy and his 45 callled
Milo? got to be the best known 4WD here in Oz, check out his Milo 2 build mate
+76aussieguy I'll have to look it up! Love our Tyre Deflators. Thanks for watching!
Hi i was wondering do you use a portable air compressor, I’ve been trying to find a good one
I really like the way you cut your videos together. I'm curious, what is your main video camera?
Y'all are way more brave than I am with some of those obstacles.
+Josh Duncan Overland Thanks, man! We shoot with a Canon XA30 with some help from the Nikon D5300
Thanks for the info! I look forward to more videos.
I am in Mesa, also an OB member #1767. Do you ever go to the OB get togethers at Tempe marketplace? Would love to meet up
+jdubshizzle We have big plans for some meetups! I'm actually taking over as the Southwest Ambassador since Ryan is moving east. Let's chat on email...
Does your 4runner have KDSS?
+Live Work Wander No, just standard suspension style.
keep it up!!!
+John Beh Will do!
cool Video.
Thanks!
Are Gen 3's the best????
Yes
This is not to be critical but at the 9.00 minute mark you wife had her thumbs on the inside of the steering wheel very risky, other wise you guys got so great air cheers from Sydney Australia
+Tony Lombardi 👍 Thanks for watching.
зависимости в какую сторону он работает
"Not quite overlanding"
Get a lavalier lapel microphone. It was hard to hear you at times. Still great video :)
+Artemio Mundo I agree, I scrubbed and scrubbed to get it this clean. Our big camera mic wasn't picking up too well on this trip. Thanks for the input!
Caroline is sooooo cute!
+twotwentyswift Thanks! 😉😍
👍👍👍
+Chad Mitchell 😎👍
Liked the video but was really hard hearing you.
+SoCal Hillbilly Thanks! Had some mic issues we couldn't overcome in editing. Next one will be better!
Your daughter plays a mean air guitar
She sure does! Thanks for watching!
$4.66 for 87 octane?🤣
That's actually the cheapest I've ever seen it there.
Haha sounds like my daughter
+DAN T4R Love traveling with this girl 😎
That kid is too cute
