My girlfriend and I flew on an ATR-42 once with American Eagle. It seems that it's cabin was better insulated, so that it was somewhat less noisier than other turboprop airliners. Less noise and vibration from the props. Harris likes to call the ATR the "Whisperprop". The props make your basic "box fan" sound in high idle and taxiing. In takeoff and inflight, the props are like the wings of bumblebee, creating the bass hum that you get inside the cabin. The Dash 8 Q 400 has six bladed props. The previous models had four bladed props. On the Dash-8's the landing gear protrudes from the engine cowels. On the ATR's, it protrudes from the fuselage.
Hey! Thanks a lot! I went at 7:30AM and left at about 1:30PM, so I spent quite a lot of time there. There wasn't many to begin with, but it began to populate pretty quickly during the afternoon. But, there was a couple of potential bird-strikes which caused the closure of 23L for a couple of hours, so I just left. It was great fun though, definitely the best spot in the UK! :D Just a bit too far away from me!
I go in the early hours of the morning too. I don't mind other people being there but its when there are that many that they are in the way! That's when I get annoyed!
Yep, a lot of footage I have collected needs to be cut and edited to remove people in the way, and there's that annoying bush right in the way of the view of the runway too. Anyways, how was your visit to Cyprus?
Hey camera guy... great vids.....but a small hint....instead of zooming so close to the aircraft....we would like you to pan out a bit. We want to see the whole aircraft and all the whole aircraft going down the runway so we can also see its spead. If you can get some good captures without moving the camera so much would be greately appreciated. Thank you and keep up the HD cool vids! 👍
