    Suzuki is a better value proposition. Toyota version only make sense if you are nowhere near a Suzuki dealer. Suzuki is less of a theft/hijack risk and insurance is more than likely cheaper too.

    All these countless Toyota rebadges prove that Toyota's success means nothing about how good their products actually are. It just means people buy something that says "Toyota" on it without even considering that the competition might be better.

      In Europe Toyota defends itself on the market actually only because of the best hybrid powertrains. Except for that, these cars are horribly outdated inside, not-user-friendly, covered with cheap paint, with naked plastic in the boot, overpriced + aggresive marketing makes it even more disgusting. Without hybrid powertrain, truly can't understand what makes people buy this corporate crap overseas.

They're reliable and easier to fix than German cars and they are user-friendly I can't think of anything that is not user-friendly about Toyota and I've never known their paint to be bad we've had a Toyota Camry for almost 20 years now and the paint still looks good despite my dad neglecting that car quite badly over the years.

    • @Steve-go6oq
      @Steve-go6oq 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@pieterrossouw8596 A few reasons because there is a premium to getting the Cross (the top end Grand Vitara has better specs in general and is similarly prices to the entry level Cross we got). It came down to the Cross feeling more solid, more planted and the engine having a bit more grunt (the CVT blunts that a bit though). We used to have a 2013 Qashqai 1.6 and that had more power than the Urban Cruiser/Grand Vitara. I think they are great options in town but for my while she commutes between Cape Town and Stellenbosch and the 1.5 is an OK engine but honestly not enough. Basically we dropped bells and whistles for better ride and what feels to be a more solid package. Funny enough I noticed the tyres, Cross comes with Bridgestones and the UC those Apollo ones.

    A turbo would be nice but turbo engines are not reliable. This 1.5L engine uses lighter pistons , low tension rings and requires a very light oil specification which is 0w-16. Add a turbo to that and you'll end up with excessive oil consumption and a dead engine in no time. This is the plague of the decade. I am glad there are still naturally aspirated engines available out there and with a reliable manual transmission. I am definitely getting one of these before they are no more made. I am going with the Suzuki Grand Vitara because I find it better looking and more robust inside and out, and cheaper.

      @branduncensored3896 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The piston and connecting rods are different part numbers on Turbo. That means they are using strengthened components. This is not your typical home-boi turbo swap .

    It's basically the same vehicle. Toyota decided downgrade it (as they usually do). I actually don't think Toyota is worried about the Chinese products which are throwing in all the features with no extras to pay for. 🤔

      Urban Cruiser is the equivalent of the Suzuki Brezza, not the Grand Vitara which is actually a higher model. So while it was a good video, not really a great comparison.

  • @MrHbgabs
    @MrHbgabs 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The two cars are not equivalent. Toyota doesn't have an Urban Cruiser at the same trim level. To compare prices is moot. The XR is more like a Suzuki GL automatic. They should have compared those rather. You'll see that the Suzuki is actually R10 000 cheaper, while still offering more features and a better warranty and service plan.

    Coming from a Ford Ecosport titanium, I am disappointed.
    The ford has lots of nice frills compared to the GV. I miss the 1 litre 3 turbo boost and 6th dear and reverse, heated seats, automatic rain wipers, 2 usb plugs in the front, and most import in a country where car hijacking is high, I cannot understand why there is not auto locking of the doors after a few metres?
    What I like, the ground height clearance of 210, and the comfortable seats and most import the big boot space. The GV unfortunately needs to work on the finer details of future technology if it wants to have a bigger market advantage on new technolo 14:30 gy cars.

    Unpopular opinion: Toyota is the Nintendo od the car world. Heavily overpriced for what you get. We can all debate reliability etc but times have changed compared to the 90's and 2000's where Toyota reliability was king. There are plenty brands that have great reliability. So that really doesn't stand out for me anymore as a reason to buy a Toyota.
