A new dawn - A brutally honest retrospective by Rafidah

  • During a panel titled: “New Malaysia Forging Ahead Together” at the Malaysia: A New Dawn conference held on Monday, former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz gave some pointers on how the new Malaysia should move forward in the new century.
Rafidah said Pakatan Harapan leaders should not be shackled by their election manifesto in governing, citing the example of what she told Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad” when he decided to retract himself from helming the Education Ministry. She reminded the present Government that Malaysians want people-centric governance instead of politics-centric governance.
The former International Trade and Industry Minister also proposed several strategies for the private sector to move forward, including urging the Government to engage the private sector in facilitating new policies and to serve as a problem-solver to the private sector.
In education, Rafidah urged the Government to look into revamping the present system in the country, to get it in line with the imperatives in the global marketplace. She also urged for a review of what is being taught in schools and the methods of teaching.
For everyone to move in tangent when forging together, Rafidah asked Malaysians to be honest in voicing their opinions and for the Government to give room for the people to give their constructive criticism.

As I foresee she is so dinamic, pragmatic, influencial and realistic. We are at the brink of living in the lost world and though at her age today nothing is ever too late besides its beyond her impossibility if she wish to.. for she is capable of amassing a solid supports from our nation on becoming our 1st ever woman PM who can save, revive and leap the country moving forward far far away from the current impact of all round-spheres of calamity. If China can do, why can't we!

Having decided to listen to this lady after this was first broadcasted, it seems that in spite of the failing of our education system, we are still unable to make any changes to system which has caused us to fall even within the ASEAN region. With so much politics being emphasized on race and religion, we can see the outcome in such behaviour in the extreme case of Afghanistan which is seeing maybe another half a century of internal strife. Isn't it a puzzle that in spite of our huge investment in education, we have not changed much. Our graduates, with very small exception, still compete for all the new industries that are spreading across the world. Do the Government find out why Indonesia is attracting so many industries when in the past we were the 1st choice!
In spite of billions being spent on digitalization, today we do not have a system that can streamline our trades when we are dependent on trade towards greater efficiency! I was hoping that the Rulers' Conference could exert more of their power by placing some of good leader into the forth coming Cabinet by appointing some of these good leaders to the Senate! so that they can serve in the Cabinet!

@@jamalludinibrahim1145 I think it is a fallacy to think any politicians are angel. Every politicians are cunning. You cant stay long in politics if you are an angel. What is important is that she took her job very seriously. I mean the amount of foreign investments coming into this countries jump significantly during her time as trade minister. She also made Miti the most efficient ministry in Malaysia. And during her time, she actually communicates regularly with the business community, setting up conferences, dialogues & meetings and so on. It shows that she really cares about making the business environment extremely conducive in order to expand business investments. That is something you dont see anymore these days. She's not an angel but she contributed enormously to this country economic development whether u want to admit it or not.

Then Anwar should sit down with LHL and find ways to work together and bring prosperity and harmony to the country. Stop acting boastful and proud, beside land mass Malaysia in not 3rd world or even 4tb world country, equivalent to Sudan or Syria today. Malaysia was never a Asian Tiger like Mahathir boasted. Malaysia is now a Asian Pussy. The blame can be laid onto all corrupted officials and the Holies. The Holies are as bad if not worst than the corrupted govt officials. Yeah I deal with this kind of lady every day whom is my mother. for this case, Rafidah aged like wine and continually improved herself to new things and all her points to be valid and made to be true.

I think the two most important skills an education system should teach is crtical reasoning and articulate speech. That's usually a marker of successful people. Rafidah has both.

The quality of a good leader. Do we see the first lady PM in the making? She sees and addresses most of the core issues Malaysia faced today. Making good and very relevant and practical suggestions at the same time. True, when we watch athletes performing we see their skills and competitiveness. Interesting and humorous lady.

I think its better people of malaysia should listen and uderstand what Rafidah is talking about .. especily those who complaints .. The people who promised to settel all the wrong doing within 100 days is the main mustake .. Because of the wrong culculation of the enemys influnce power which is not a person .. But a gruop of evil people
with strong evil power ... those people who cares about their own benefit but not the Nation ...

Mdm Rafidah's thoughts are strategic, to bring Malaysia to a higher level of economic prosperity. It is practical to grow the cake for all Malaysians to benefit from, the formula for peaceful nation. In a shrinking cake enviroment, people will be more sensitive in who gets what, which will create unhealthy tensions. Malaysia has this rare chance to show the world what we are capable off. Don't waste it. All the best!
