Yes, he is near the top, if not the very best, in my opinion. Sherlock Holmes Magpie is an equal tie for the Sherlock Holmes stories; I don't mind mentioning him here though, because he doesn't really do horror, so it isn't like competition, lol. In horror though you keep excelling your previous performances. Every month you get better and better.
I love vintage type vampire stories. One of my favorite stories is the vampire of Croglin Grange. Not much is creepier than a summertime vampire who doesnt need invitation. I like these slightly shorter stories, I hope you do more 20 minute stories.
THIS is exceptional reading. While the title and the story caught my attention, it was the reading that mystified me to listen all the way to the end. I was simply transfixed.
His voice is transfixing; I think I have mentioned that myself. You feel as if you are sitting at a table with him, and he is telling you a story he heard about a neighbor that he knows he shouldn't be repeating. His sotto voce technique is unparalleled.
E.F. Benson, my favorite author of the macabre, and Mrs. Amworth is one of my personal favorites. This channel is turning into an addiction. I'm so thankful it isn't porn or meth.
Fantastic story and narration! This is a truly fantastic tale and is now one of my favorite vampire stories. This and "Four Wooden Stakes" are two of my favorites. You did a fantastic job! The background noise and music are spot on! British authors can write like no other, and British narrators can narrarate like no other. My three favorite narrators are all from across the pond. This has always been one of my horror favorites, and I've read/ listened to it many times ( like Negotium Perambulans, there's something so perfect about it; like a perfectly faceted jewel). Your delivery, however, is exceptional. I really didn't think my enjoyment of this classic could be enhanced in any way, but you have achieved it! Brilliant! Thanks wmnoffaith 🙏 One of the first I recorded, so you can tell I held this story in high regard too. I love the character of Mrs Amworth. I think it was actually quite a bold choice by Benson to make the vampire a perfectly pleasant, likeable, and ordinary woman.
Lesson learned! It’s the writer in me once I start I can’t stop! Do you know what I love about this channel and Tony’s, which are enough for me because I’m addicted! The fact that it’s like period drama/vintage and very very British! This is my favourite form of entertainment at the moment! I balance it out though with spiritual lovey-dovey stuff! Just in case you want feedback: Would love to know what period the author came from in the description but it’s okay it’s not necessary I could Wikipedia it! I just want to be more familiar with these authors! This is all new to me and I am loving it! Another fantastic job! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I recall in the 70s a TV was made of this story. Quite good for the time. As a child I recall playing with a pick axe looking to destroying vampires.
Yes, the wonderful Glynis Johns played Mrs Amworth in that adaptation, I believe. The 70s were a golden age for horror on TV.
