That is seriously impressive, I really wanted a drone with active track after watching all the guys in the US using them, then I realised they ride out in the open most of the time… thanks for sharing this mate..
I just got mine and did the same test today walking my dog through the woods. What I noticed, and I see this with your video too, is that it seems to head *towards* the trees briefly and then move away at the right moment, in other words, it seems to anchor its direction on the fixed object in its path and then avoid it. If that's correct, it's interesting, meaning the drone is using the fixed obstacles as way points, if you will, between the moving target and itself. I guess that makes sense from a strategy perspective. I have several shots of the drone approaching a tree and then sliding left or right at the last minute. That said, I'm not sure why it wouldn't steer a more efficient course, unless the processing is just too intensive at this time. Thanks for the video.
First thank you for watching. Yes I know what you mean. I am guessing it is trying to select the most open bath at the time. As some have commented it would be great if they had a follow the RC through the GPS connection so that it would still find and follow you if the visual connection is lost. Maybe in the new future we will see this.
Without a doubt, this is the most impressive feature of the Mini 3 Pro. The obstacle avoidance is better than it has a right to be. We wanted pro features in the Mini model and its finally here.
Loving my Mini 3 Pro, I even use it as part of my kit for commercial work. The obstacle avoidance is fantastic, as your video demonstrated. You have a new subscriber from Ireland 👍
Okay, so I have to comment again, this is probably the most amazing Active Track video I've watched right to the end. Fair play buddy, well done, new subscriber added...
Great video of single track on MTB. I’ve made a few of these active track videos but mainly on roads and some parks. I plan to really test it out on some of our trails in the Chattanooga area soon and hope for similar results that you had! New subscriber as well! 👍
that is absolutely mind boggling and so much deeper than the mini 2 potential... i was just thinking that putting prop protectors on the mini 3 might add security in this woodland environment... knowing that such add ons might bring the weight above 249g but imo those laws are worthy in populated areas but i'd chance breaking such laws in this environment. ... would it work ? impressive for sure for the mini 3
Thanks for the video. Just bought one today. Looks like a nice upgrade from the original. I look forward to using the controller with the screen included instead of my phone.
Great video footage. I've got the mini 3 pro and am getting propeller guards from DJI so they wont interfere with the sensors and only weigh a few extra grams. Will protect my props for sure.
Hi. Beautiful extreme active track test. You gave me heart attack. I haven't had the occasion to test this asowme feature. You now have a new subsciber from Italy....

wow! very nice test! i really like when the drone found alternative ways to follow you off the trail! If you want to use the control on the handle bar i can share the files of a bike mount to 3d print - also, its a very nice trail, perfect to do this test!
The tracking is amazing. I have thought though that if there was a tag on could wear that essentially broadcasts to the drone live the route to go exactly where you yourself go would be absolutely cool because then it wouldn't need to compute all the tracking and just fly the route whilst tracking the subject on the gimbal.
Yes definitely something like that would make it work better. I think once they place side sensors on the Mini it will be a lot better. Thanks for watching David.
I have used the active tracking feature on my mini 3 pro several times I have videos on my channel. But it has been absolutely flawless. I noticed the only time that it lost visual of you was when it was behind the tree as you made a sharp left turn. But the area that you were in was a very difficult test and I would have to give it an A plus for that it did absolutely amazing in those tight spaces. I couldn’t have flown it manually through that environment and I have been flying for a long time lol but it did really well great video I will subscribe to your channel.
Thanks Andy. Yes I wanted to push it a little and see how well it goes. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that criticize the speed that it goes but what can they really expect and I guess do not understand the technology advances it has already made.

I had mine hovering over water getting ready to fly it along the creek and it ended up drifting sideways into leaves (some very gusty winds). Briefly hung up in the tree and I thought it was done for but it recovered and got away. Not a test I'd recommend.

@@dieselwilliams lol i see. I've come up with an idea. I'm waiting for my mini 3 pro to arrive. So yes yet to find a good solution for this. I guess I will look for a solid handle bar holder if I can find one.
@@dieselwilliams lol i see. I've come up with an idea. I'm waiting for my mini 3 pro to arrive. Once it gets here I'll measure the controller and design a internally ribbed box that will isolate the controller from the walls inside the box while it is inside. Then I can put the controller inside and into my backpack when riding mountain bike. I'll be printing the box with my 3d printer. Can share the design with you once I've come up with the final version if you are interested. Cheers!
@@johnmtb5888 just make sure you can get to it easy. I have seen on TH-cam before a design handle bar holder for the Mini 3 controller but they said it did not feel very strong. Maybe there are better ones out there now.
@@dieselwilliams no handle bar mounts, unless u want your remote to die the second you drop the bike or crash.
@@johnmtb5888 I think if I get a Mount I would only be using it in low speed situations anyways. I have a small Heavy duty case for it whilst I am riding. Plus again it’s insured through DJI anyways 😉
does it work flying in front of you (but facing you of course) as well as following behind? or will it back itself into a tree that way?
It does have rear sensors but yes it does not work as well because it does not know what direction you intend to go. On a straight trail it will work long enough to get a quick shot.
How do you use controller during drive? I’ve seen brackets for attaching to handlebar, but in rough terrain it’s not that good idea 🤔
Take a look at my last video regarding Quad Lock. It may give you some ideas. It’s the best option I have found as yet.
@@dieselwilliams Thanks, i really appreciate that you help 😊🙏
@@ToeB91 anytime mate! Thanks for the view!
Subscribed the channel too ☺️
If you ride full-speed on a treeless trail, can the drone keep up closely?
I believe it will keep up to speeds of like 40KMPH . The active track does have a minimum distance it will stay away from the target.
What’s your thoughts on tracking while you’re in water, lake, ocean, etc.
That’s ok just don’t try to land on a moving vessel plus set your RC as the return to home location.
