Gary Clark Jr. is my absolute favorite. I too love Catfish Blues. He's Hendricks/BB King, he's just the best - can't get enough of him. Saw him play 3 O'Clock Blues at the Stones concert last may as a tribute to B.B. and he was absolutely fabulous. Saw him for the 2nd time at the Bridge School Concert last weekend and he was the best. And of course here at the Russian River. Oakland in December....can't wait.

Im very new to blues and I mean gary clark jr is the only real blues musician i have paid much attention to lately (i will listen to more hopefully very soon) but this performance beats many things i have seen from other artist, true mastery of this instrument and the bright lights performance was absolutely amazing my fav section of the set hands down 10/10 for this, sincerely a newbie blues fan haha

I watched Gary grow from a kid playing around town into this amazing artist. I feel like I discovered him myself. I sometimes get possessive and feel like my secret is out when others finally discover the amazing musicians that I love and follow but I am so glad the world has been able to enjoy his awesomeness with me. I knew he'd make it big and I am so proud of him.

I love how he walks you slow and easy into the first song and then let's it rip. If he was singing Red House and I had my eyes closed I might think we was Jimi. The style is different but the intensity is the same. The love song is straight out of the 50's.. He's got an impressive vocal range.

Give a listen to Luther Allison's son Bernard. Incredible guitarist. He plays a mean slide and everything from old Delta blues to Hendrix. Not only a great guitarist, but his vocals are that classic growling blues sound.

I really like Luther and His son very much so your very mention of them just gave me a menu change to what i will be listening too this week. You are an example of what I love about youtube Ray. How complete strangers can celebrate, inspire and share without insanity.
Little Jimmy King doesn't ring a bell. But that's the thing about the blues. there's so many great bluesmen out there who never get any recognition. So you never know that they ever existed. That's why so many of them spend all their time over seas. Even guys like Walter Trout. He lives in California, but does most of his shows in Europe. When I mention Gary Moore people say...Who? But yea...the internet is a great way to spread the good word. The blues is alive and well.

He did albert King better than Albert king and once SRV heard that he took it.....with love but he took it. I say that cause talent in the current business has to be copied. No one can afford to take a chance with an original. Again, I am a musician so with all honesty I dare not ever insult the pros who came before me as to ever compare them or their styles. Jonny Winter said that once....my favorites are my favorites and I will never telll the truth about who they are, he used to say he wanted you (the public) to find them in his playing. Sadly too many people were placing people in groups of who is best, better and great rather than locating what Winter was hiding. Gary Moor is good and Walter is kinda good too, I happen to like Monte Montgomery because he is original. SRV was original only in his half step tuning, does not mean I didnt love his style but I being very old, have heard all his licks way too many times. Its all Subjective and Only the record company's create and support competition. I know, I spent half of a lifetime trying to make kids fall in love with white guys who sound black.......lol
