It’s tempting. I’m still using their HC68 which for me is unbeatable. I prefer the up/down buttons than sequencing through the brightness levels. And the fully adjustable levels for combining flood and throw is the killer feature. As I have a small hedgehog sanctuary and go on nightly frog patrols during migration season I use my HC68 just about every night of the year. I just wish it had longer runtimes. Hint hint Nitecore 😊
Hey thank you for the comment and sharing your experience and thoughts.... I like headlamp s with focused beams as I prefer spot oriented light over flood. But I see what you mean regarding the run time s.. Nitecore develop all the time so maybe it won't be too long before they sort that out... Best wishes Tom
That's strange I had no issues with mine at all.. It's a great bit of kit.. Thank you for the comment and sharing your thoughts 🤔.. Great to hear from you.. best wishes Tom
Thanks for the review. Ive got several of their lights for trail running. I always seem to come back to the brand for the light weight and decent lumens vs longevity. I'm not bothered about 1200 luments at 145 grams. My ideal would be 50 - 75 grams and 400 lumens for as long as possible...that's my sweet spot. So many companies seem to do 1200 lumens but their next level down is about 200 lumens, which is no use to me. My current go to is the original UT27. Ive got used to the yellow light and i take a spare battery. I have to say, in the icy weather it got less than half the stated battery life which was disappointing but maybe expected....it was a bit of a learn about battery performance in the cold i.e. take plenty of spares as they can last less than half the stated time. I might have to try this new one too. It would have been nicer to have a replaceable battery but if you can plug in a battery when running it's not the end of the world. I do like fenix but they dont seem to have quite the same performance vs weight. Cheers. Sheffield.
Hey I really appreciate your sharing of your experience of Nitecore.. After using many brands Nitecore are now my definite go to... Yes I also totally get the point of a high lumen setting then the mid setting dropping way too much.. As you say what's the point of a high being 1000 lumen then the mid being 500 with nothing in between... Nitecore batteries perform better that most but good to have a spare or power bank back up.... This NU27 has great output and runtimes for its weight... Tom
Just bought one, initial impressions are it's bloody great for the money! I've been using a LedLenser i5HR which is good, but nowhere near as flexible as the Nitecore.
I ordered one hoping the warm white will be as good as on Fenix hm65rdt. Last winter i used only that headlamp, i could spot ice patches or hardened snow very easy.
I really like the features of it especially the abilities of changing its angle say for reading something , etc., and the battery status indicator level is a good feature too. Another good review by Tom. I wonder if in the near future a review of what you think is a good jacket for trekking in different weather conditions + footwear except I know that might be costly or even a review of what you wear now or in the past would be great?
Hi Stephen.... To be honest I am winding down the channel after I review a few more products... I am just not getting anywhere close to the views that I need to make it anywhere close to the massive effort that it takes me to do all of this... Hey thank you for your comment.. thats you in the draw.. best wished Tom
@@TOMHEANEY100 That is understandable if you’re not getting the desired numbers to make it financially worthwhile your time. However, I have personally found all reviews over the years to be truly informative, educational and an eye opener to what it’s truly like to camp in harsher conditions. The products you’ve reviewed most people would be scared to purchase not knowing if they are worth the cost or not, and no doubt you have helped many of us to be more savvy to what to look for in quality & build from various manufacturers, etc. It is your honesty and knowledge shown in your reviews which teaches us in what is needed for successful camping, trekking, survival in various weather conditions, and your way of how to properly pitch a tent of pegging it out which helped me get my interest back in camping. Also, I liked your earlier videos about how to increase the durability of a tent where guy ropes are attached to the points of a tent that can be strengthened against very strong winds! Your videos helped me through the years of Covid period, and I will still rewatch your videos even the remaining products you’re planning to review too. No doubt you have inspired many others to become TH-cam bloggers in camping gear, and you have set a standard in how to review such products! Good luck in your future ventures!
Tom, one thing that I’m potentially concerned about is unwanted glare on the face (I find it a major distraction if the nose is lit up whilst using a headlamp). Do you find this an issue with the NU27? Thanks.
Hi that's a difficult one as I have never noticed this on any head lamp.. The NU27 here could be better or worse with it's wide reflective surface or possibly the colour temperature options could help.. best wishes Tom
@TOMHEANEY100 I own the headlamp and just thought it wasn't stated in the manual. If the headlamp had a better flood (for me) w the memory it would of been close to perfect. Still a great lightweight headlamp
Congrats on 10k subscribers by the way. Thoroughly well deserved,
Indeed.
Hey Gary that you so much... I really appreciate your support.. Thank you for your comment.. thats you in the draw.. best wished Tom
Great video, Tom. As always!

Nitecore hitting it out of the park Tom. So many great options in their line up
You are right.. definitely my preferred headlamp company as they just keep pushing forwards even when a product is already amazing... best wishes Tom
Cheers Tom, seriously thinking of buying one.😮
Hey Marty.. thank you for your comment and support.. Yes I definitely recommend this one.. best wishes Tom

Bought one this week. I lIke it, compact and light. I couldn't get the clip out, though, without serious knife work!

On my shortlist. Like the colour temperature feature. Comparing it to UT27 because of the replaceable battery. Have you used it?
No not tried it yet but I love Nitecore headlamp s so I am sure it is pretty good too.. Looked at it a few times online.. best wishes Tom
Which rear road cycle light do you use?
Hi I use lights from See Sense and Lezyne. The Lezyne is a Zecto Drive.. best wishes Tom

Does it have a memory on the last light output/color? Tia
No its doesn't I am afraid...

is it sponsored video?
Yes if that makes a difference to you... best wishes Tom
