We visited Okayama while staying in Osaka. We jumped on a train and randomly got off at this station. We walked in the town went to some shopping streets that reminded my of Mom and Pop American stores in the 1970s. We then has the most amazing meal at a small restaurant right on the sidewalk on a street that curved alot. We had amazing Tempuri and bento. The variety if small dishes and salads never ended an the tempuri was absolutely gorgeous. It was topped with a battered and fried grape vine end with a cured tendril and baby leaves. We walked up a winding road past a school and were curious to see A lot of business men walking down. We wondered where they might have come from, lol
Yay Okayama! My family is from there originally. When we were there in 2019 we made Okayama our place to stay and then took the shinkansen to Kyoto and Hiroshima. The garden and castle is beautiful. If I remember correctly the special Pocky for Okayama was mikan flavor. In the morning I would go to the food court (next to the stairs) and in the back corner was a shop that sold onigiri and karaage. It was 2 onigiri and some karaage for something like 500 yen. I'd pick that up and take it to the train. Coming back in the evening the Manneken shop smelled so good. They had a caramel apple waffle and you could just smell it walking through there.
I visited in 1993 and attended Saidaiji High School and stayed with a local family. The gardens were very beautiful, and the people very friendly. We visited just at the end of cherry blossom season. We also went to Fisherman’s Wharf and across the huge Seto o Hashi bridge. Yes, they are proud of their peaches and Momotaro.
Hi 👋 love peaches. Pudding looked yummy 😋 trains and train station are so clean. I was getting anxious that you were not going to make the train 🚂 on time. Great views from the train. Surprised you got a single in the tunnel. Thanks for sharing the tour there. Have a safe trip.
As someone who used to live in Kochi, I did this transfer quite a few times. Of course, there were a few times when we didn't have time to enjoy Okayama station before moving on...
Two years ago I used to watch your videos and live streams A LOT, I learned about japan and you as well as English since you got this clear comfartable accent of yours (though I feel it did changed a little🙂).. Last video I saw was that of the sushi restaurant with car service you made it with a guy called den, glad to know that you doing well and had a baby, I own you a lot for all these enjoyable informative hours I spent watching you, all love from saudi arabia!
Bummed that I missed most of this livestream. But, thankful for the replay. I love riding the trains in Japan especially the Shinkansen. My hope is to ride the Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hokkaido which I heard only takes 3.5 hours. Hope it'll be sooner than later. Thank you John!
@@largo6137 Yeah, I know. But I enjoy watching his livestreams and don't appreciate other people telling me what they think I should do. So you move on and troll someone else's comments. And since you seem so bored with his content, why are you even here?
