@@grinch12342001 This was a fantastic match both players played with a lot of quality and it was competitive, often when a top Chinese player gets pushed it looks like they are having an off day, here it looked like Fan had to raise his level of play.

@@Benlo yeah he got a wakeup call after a bad 4-6 months..I heard he was addicted to games on his phone and got some warnings and people talking to him..he was out of it and seemed burnt out for a while..Saw him get crushed by some people where it was shocking..he seems somewhat reinvigorated..when he's on, tough to beat for sure, like Ma long at his peak

@Fortnite Rambo I have been a national-level TT player and I can assure you is totally possible not to scream like that. It helps exulting sometimes for sure, but Harimoto's way of exulting is simply exaggerated. In fact take all top 20 world players, he is the only one to behave like that.
Ragarding FZD being "passive"??? are you kidding right? He makes incredibly fast top spins on every fucking ball, he is a fucking alien. No one at this table tannis level it's passive except for defensive players (but also defenders are capable of attacking really well whenever the attacker give them the chance)
@Fortnite Rambo Harimoto is a table tennis phenomenon, no one denies that but the reason is not his exaggerated screaming for sure, it's because of his incredible talent. I think instead that shouting so much is a limit for him. In 2 years he will be able to win most of the times with Chinese players if he will mature and stop acting like a child (and that is also the job of his coach), otherwise I think he will not be able to be steadily the world number 1 and leaving its signature on the history of table tennis as Ma Long did.

@Fortnite Rambo Yes, he can as a table tennis player under the ITTF rules but it doesn't make him any better as a person nor does he do any good to the sport. Yes he can but so do poeple have every rights and reasons to dislike him. He CAN scream as loud as he wants. He CAN still sream even when he wins a point by clipping the edge and net. He CAN do borderline hiden serves, borderline non-vertical serves and wait until it is borderline time-wasting before serving such that the jude would not warn him for it because doing so may disturbe the flow of the match. But how much freedom from the unspoken rules, leeway, assuming of carlesssness are you willing to exploit to the point of unbearableness that everything must be set by rigid rules? You want there to be a decibel meter in the tables? You want computers to check every serve for the exact toss height? Why not just behave.
I think this tournament is probably the best I've seen Harimoto play. Hope he keeps this up. If so he will have a chance in the Olympics

@@rishabhdubey374 he really is though if you follow him long enough. Given Harimoto is only 16 and is playing at such high level TT. A lot of table tennis also 'scream' to relieve the high tension. It's just that his way of doing that is weird :)) but he has lots of years ahead for improvement.
I thought FZD losing the 1st game after leading 9-5 would have affected his confidence badly. But he managed to hold on and played very well. FZD mental capacity is strong now

This is the new version of Fan Zhendong. I still think that he is not as good as he was a year ago. Mr. Fan has always been a slow starter. He used to play close in the first 2 games and then blew his opponents away in later games. I guess Mr. Fan is still the same as before.

The perfect coordination of FZD'S Power, Accuracy and Commitment for each shot is an amalgamation of Hugo Calderano and Xu Xin's play style😎😁.
I feel like Calderano is often too aggressive, he misses way too many shots.
@@theviniso Calderano lacks stability - when he's on, he looks very, very strong, among top 5 in the world. But once he starts swinging on everything, his hit rate goes way down. Many players outlast him just by playing steady and giving him difficult stuff to open/counter on.

Now is obvious that Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin should play in the Olympics singles. Hero Ma Long is too old to beat The opponents with confidence. Xu Xin beats Harimoto 7 to 0 because his style is the natural killer of Harimoto's, and Fan Zhendong is now an apparent Zhang Jike 2.0, with steady defense and killing counterattack.
Trust me,not yet.
This tournament Ma Long was not playing well and this can be seen even by the way he moves during the play.
However, he got as close as possible considering the injury. Also, I think Fan Zhendong's style is kind of DDOS the opponent with physical strength, while Ma Long on the other hand plays smarter and has more experience.
Only time will tell whether Ma Long is able to participate in Olympic games in 2020.
Ummm..... never count Ma Long out. MA Long was one of the best players in the recent Chinese warm-ups for the Olympics and looked to be on fire.

Beating a rusty Ma Long feels good but that doesn't make you a threat to China automatically. Harimoto still needs a breakthrough to be a real threat like Mima Ito. FZD under pressure but didn't even need to use his 100% to beat Harimoto. His shouting might get him going but soon enough he will be quiet like Ovtcharov when playing against Chinese players because you really need to use your head. His missed serve in the end to cost him the chance to come back is the solid proof of his inexperience and under-developed mental game.

Harimoto's playing the best he ever has. FZD even broke a sweat! His overconfidence led him to lose 2 games, but he shifted to second gear in game 5 and 6, really looked like he was bullying the youngster Harimoto.

Both players have streaky moments. The difference is that Harimoto can make a comeback when he was down by 3 to 4 points. While Fan came back from down by 5 or more in the sixth set. You can see everything in Harimoto was breaking down, his technique, footwork and mental game, all were totally deflated. This is what you need from the consistency and the mental focus for the top player. Fan got another extra gear and went for it. That was all the difference.
I have to give Harimoto more credit now that he is looking for the open table. Still, his opponents should move him around and forcing more wider, lower balls with angle on his forehand weak side. This will get more unforced error out of him.

In my opinion, Harimoto appears to have improved his forehand quite a bit. It is no longer his weak point based on the incredible rallies in the semi-final against Ma Long as well as the final. If he keeps up this trajectory, he will be at the top very soon. He just has to learn how to keep his composure and, maybe, stop screaming so much to conserve energy.

Harimoto showed maturation of his game in this tournament, especially patience against top players like FZD and Ma Long. People can mock his yelling, but his game right now is on par with the best Chinese players. And he's only 16.

tbh it is just a style of playing, like in basketball, will you accuse the professor should play more politely instead of "insulting" other players? Tbh, it is just different style.
for your reference, the professor is a very good basketball player, beating many people with his skills in dribbling, shooting, layups. He is being very controversial for doing moves that make the defender off balance, sometimes throwing the ball on to the forehead of the defender. While many see him being disrespectful, he says it is just a style of playing. If the opponent got angry or nervous, I would say the opponent's mentality may need some extra training

The people who comment about harimotos screaming are WAYYYYY more annoying than the screaming itself. Nobody says shit about Wang Chuqin or any of the Chinese players that cho at almost every point. Its like they see the video and their head immediately goes "oh, harimoto video, lemme click on it and leave a comment about how i hate his screaming" fuckin idiots.
Anyways, all that aside, harimoto played very well in this match and this entire tournament, wonderful performance. Fzd played out of his goddamn mind tho. He went thru a brief few months where he wasnt quite himeslf and was getting beat a lot, but this fzd looks pretty close to unstoppable. The quality of his backhand is right back to where it was if not better and the consistency with which he is able to return shots is unreal. His footwork and reach is truly next level and his mental toughness is as strong as ever.
Best world cup (as a whole) that i have ever seen. Every match was fire. Kanak almost beat calderano, the indian guy (so hard for me to remember his name or say it right so im not gonna even try to spell it) played amazingly well in his wins against groth and gauzy. Ovtcharov and falck was insanely good, ma long vs gauzy, just really high quality games all around. Bravo and thank you for the entertainment.
