Much more action and horror oriented than the first entry, PE2 is considered by most like a pale follow up.
You can feel they tried to get the closest possible to a product similar to Resident Evil, and by doing this the game lost a lot of exploration and RPG elements.
But the uncanny feel of the creatures and the grittiness of the environment turn a really pale follow up to a quite gruesome Horror-Rpg with great CGI sequences that hunted a lot of dreams.
