He evokes such emotion, takes flight with one's heart, embarks on a journey with horizons of beauty like few vocalists I've ever heard! I hope he comes to Minnesota some time. His every cell is enraptured!
Oh my! I’m so deeply touched. Who is this man? He’s magical …and I’m in a puddle of tears..with overwhelming gratitude 🙏🏽. Beautiful. Joni , hopefully, has seen this. I’m mesmerized. 😢❤😢😊
Oh I love his version, and I thought Joni was the only one who could sing this. Rufus’ voice has this mesmerizing richness and he knows just when to pull back and break it. It’s all heart with him, can’t fake it. And yeah the sequin vest, phwoar. 😉
Yeesh. I want to like Rufus but I just can’t stand his signing! Just like Bob Dylan- I hear he’s a talented songwriter but just can’t deal with voices like a rusty hinge…. Argh
I don't think this marvelous song merits such an overly dramatized interpretation. The essence and simple message of the song gets lost in the overly wrought interpretation. Rufus is a terrific singer but I think he's taking this song way too seriously. The song is too long to drag it out in such a manner. This interpretation is pretentious and lacks real meaning but welcome to our contemporary society.
You're obviously entitled to your opinion, but I'm certain Joni would disagree with you since she has been performing the song very similarly to this for at least the past 25 years. There's a version of her singing it in 2000 with a dramatic vocal plus a sweeping orchestral arrangement, and I've seen/heard several other performances of hers throughout the years that were also quite slow and dramatic. I've heard so many covers of Both Sides over the years, and most of them are closer to Rufus' version than to the original, and I think that's because there's a wistful pathos to the lyrics that lends itself to a slower, more dramatic rendering.
His voice becomes more and more lush with the years...just gorgeous...
I have to say that Rufus's cover of this song ..is one of my Favorites! It is very straight forward ...Poetic , Emotional & passionate!
Sort of makes you think too if the times right now ,,
Oh god! Yet Again! He broke my heart again!😍❤️🩹

Wow. It's a very rare singer who can do justice to a Joni song. Rufus knocks it out of the park. Absolutely beautiful.
Me too, waited years to see him, outstanding, always
He is the angel son of Louden Wainwright! I’ve enjoyed watching his rise and adore his stylistic expressions
This is an absolutely gorgeous rendition of this song! ❤🎶
Rufus is a Canadian 🇨🇦 doing another Canadian 🇨🇦Joni Mitchell so proud! ❤️So lovely ❤️
Greetings from NJ. Best to you Canada! My apologies for our President and Maga.
He evokes such emotion, takes flight with one's heart, embarks on a journey with horizons of beauty like few vocalists I've ever heard! I hope he comes to Minnesota some time. His every cell is enraptured!

....Rufus!!
An Angel inside is singing.
He becomes the Angel.
auch ich bin jetzt ein Fan!!!! Greetings from Germany....
He did it justice. Heartbreaking xxx
His version is so beautiful. In my taste, his rendition is more heartwrenching than Joni Mitchell's natural but also beautiful version. Superb 😭❤❤❤
Please don’t touch Joni’ s versions of this song.
So perfect Rufus! Kiss from Will

I love this version, and I love Joni, but no love for Judy Collins, though?

Human autotune. Imagine opening your mouth and having that sound come out. Wow
If he was singing this on the street busking, I wonder how many people would stop to listen?
Lots, judging from this performance.
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Not my fave artist but this is great
Great
I thought carol king wrote this song?
Joni Mitchell wrote it long ago in the 1960’s, She wrote some of her most powerful songs in the 60’s and 70’s.❤❤❤
Wait, when did Rufus become a DILF?
2019
name of this song please?
It's named, "Both Sides Now" written and performed by Joni Mitchell. Rufus gives a masterful interpretation of this profound song.
@@mwj5368 thank you!!!
Worth watching Joni sing it early (she wrote it when about 20) and late at a celebration for her 60th(?) birthday.
@@dewimatthews6037 thank you for the sugestion.
💙🫀❤
Yikes!! @ 3:28 - 3:40.
Better than Joni? lol He is all over the place. Self indulgent.
Yeesh. I want to like Rufus but I just can’t stand his signing! Just like Bob Dylan- I hear he’s a talented songwriter but just can’t deal with voices like a rusty hinge….
Argh
Pick up the tempo, its like a portentous dirge, when its a terrific song in truth.
troppo lento

Excellent cover. Best ever? Annie Lenox.
