Personally, I think "sweating" is the act of both playing as hard as you can, while also being toxic as hell. I never call people who are good "sweaters" or "tryharding" unless they are toxic. Otherwise they are just good at the game

    • @phildiop8248
      @phildiop8248 ปีที่แล้ว +20

Yeah, saying someone is sweating isn't toxic as you would never say this to someone who is playing in ranked, since you have to "sweat" in ranked.
I see sweating as playing like you would be in ranked. So playing like you'd play in ranked in a custom game can be fun, but only if your friends want to.
I don't think it's toxic to say that a friend is sweating if they're playing a custom the hardest they can while others might just want to play to have fun and not try their hardest.

@@phildiop8248 kinda get this, but my point was that trying to win in casual isn't in my opinion "toxic".
What I call sweaters is the people who both tryhard and be toxic and negative towards teammates who aren't as good.
But I do get the fact that some people think it's annoying to have good players against bad players in casual, but that's just what casual is: people of different skill levels in the same match.

@@jbelk_1067 neither are actual words (or are, but not in this context) but since you want to start the grammar talk: a sweat is obviously sweat, and a sweater someone who is sweating. So let me ask you, is someone who sweats in ranked, A) a sweat or B) a sweater?

A lot of your tips over time has helped me a lot in siege. Shooting couple shots in windows for spawn peaks, shooting cams asap, using utility effectively, timing the match, aim practice, etc. all some amazing stuff. Went from 0 kills and just supporting with utility in matches to getting “at least” a kill per round in most games (everyone has their bad games). Love your videos 🫡

Tbh, I always have music on while playing games like siege, cs and valorant. Obviously, I set the volume at a low level that is barely audible since I still have to be able to hear footsteps and stuff. I do think that it really helps depending on the person ofc. If you are someone that loses focus very easily, this might not be for you.

I mean saying "if you wanna get good at a video game then drop all your friends" is not very healthy advice for people who dont have many friends to begin with. Just IMO. I mean people will be people and maybe some people have different priorities than me, but i would personally rather have 4 friends that are trash but have fun playing with me rather than have 4 good teammates that i dont know and dont care to get to know. I mean he said in the video its bs anyone can find a new friend group but thats not true, and especially not true if youre talking about dropping irl friends just to get good. You can easily make a relationship on the internet, but in my experience those friendships only last a few weeks. Ive never met someone on the internet and just ended up playing with them for years on end.
If youre talking about dropping your toxic xbox/psn friends then yeah go for it, but dont drop someone you actually hang out and do other things with just cause they arent good at siege. It feels like the morally wrong thing to do.

I can rely on every point you mentioned especially "only playing with friend". I really love my friends for who they are and stuff in real life, but playing with them a video game which is so complicated is kinda rough. Me being the one competitive guy and them being the casual players. I was happy that they accepted me for my decision not playing with them every time because they are my friends. I managed then to improve and reach Diamond back then.

That first tip is legit. When Siege first came out, the first 2-3 seasons I played with friends from high school. They joked around too much, and honestly I was suppressed by them bc when I played with them I couldn't really play the play style i'm best at, and would forfeit the role to one of my buddies just to be a good teammate/friend. I got so much better at the game when I moved on from playing it with them.

Everything you said in this video I can attest to. Back in Shifting Tides I started getting into ranked and was playing with my friends who I played casual with for around a year. I learned to play support from the start because my gunskill was horrible. I was always playing Therm/Hib and on defense I would be whatever we needed which was normally mute or bandit. One day I decided to solo q and met an amazing friend who I am still friends with to this day. We would always duo q and he helped me get out of gold and basically taught me the game. He was a high plat player at the time and dabbled in the small comp scene xbox had. Since I was playing with him I was always in plat lobbies even though I was around a gold 3 player if I am being honest with myself. But the next seasons I went from Plat 3 Void Edge to Plat 2 Steel Wave to Diamond in Shadow Legacy. From then on I never really made any new friends and never made the champ grind but I have improved since then. I think I peaked a year ago honestly but recently I hit Diamond 1 in around 20-ish games with a 2.1 kd on controller playing against champs and diamonds, not boosting. I still play the same ops but sometimes will play more "fraggy" ops. I only play Ace/Hib on attack with the occasional nomad or mav pick and on defense play Jager/Mute and sometimes bandit or kaid or anything really. Xbox's landscape is a lot more lenient with its roles so I learned to get good gunskill from the amount of 1vx situations I had and doing around 6k t hunts, it's a lot but honestly necessary for me since I honestly had the worst mechanics and gunskill. I always listen to music when playing albeit very quiet. Definitely isn't the most helpful when trying to hear but I trust my team to give good callouts and my own game sense to have a general idea of where to look.

I recall having a friend group early on my Siege Career that I had connected with playing in a casual match, they seemed really tightly knit and they all were having a good time together. They let me into their group and we would mess around and have fun.
Over time, when I first started getting comfortable with ranked lobbies, I started realizing that these guys that were always screwing around with each other in casual were going to be barriers for me in Ranked. They would TK each other at random (this was back during year one where you could get away with multiple team-kills a game.) and when I would ask them to stop and focus on the game they would say that I didn't understand their relationships. Over time as they continued to do it and I continued to stress to them that I wanted to play the game seriously they eventually started targeting me for TK's.
I blocked the dude that was my point of contact and found a new group to play with. I went from Bronze/Silver to Gold bordering on Platinum back when Platinum was what everyone's goal was.
I hovered around Gold from Year 2 to Year 4 before I decided to move on.

man that's sad. Couldn't you just play casual with them and then play ranked solo or with other people? I also have these kind of friends, we just never play ranked together because we just troll around and it's much fun. They are one of the most positive and kind people I've met and I would be extremly sad if we just broke of contact because of siege.

Also a tip that I feel like should be included is: TAKE BREAKS, just get off for 10-20 mins after 3 games or if you’re on a losing streak. It follows the same principle as listening to music between games. You gotta reset yourself a bit and you’ll play with a much clearer mind

i had the same experience with my friends. I used to play with 3 or 4 firends from high school but 1 they were terrible 2 never wanting to play ranked and only customs too. when we did play ranked it would be miss comunications or shouting or arguements as well as all having a low rank of like bronze. I then decided to stop playing siege and just play other games with them and i played siege with my cousins friend who had just moved to pc and had came from playing with his school friends on playstation, difference with him tho is that him and his friends got on really well and had super good cemistry so he was able to get better and learn the game well and get a higher rank than ive ever got when he moved to pc he was a natural, his movement was sick his aim was so on point and his game sense carried over from playstation so he was able to teach me how to be a better siege player and still gives me tips to this day. He eventually wanted to play ranked and this was hard for me since i barely had played ranked and when i did i would just get shouted at and i was super nervous so it was hard for me to play the same in casual than in ranked i ended up agreeing and me my cousin and his friend started playing ranked, at first i was still high bronze low silver but after a season or 2 of playing with him we got better climing through silver then i hit gold for the first time. we also found people in our ranked matches who wanted to play with us afterwards and ended up having a godly 5 stack that would win alot of our games i finanly managed to get through gold and hit plat in vector glare i was super close to hitting plat 2 that season too i hit plat 3 this season but have gone down to gold 1 since we dont all play as much now but my cousins friend and i still play we are super good friends now and we play loads of other games we love next season its my goal to hit plat 2 even if the ranked system is changing

Hot take: siege is best played competitively, casual is casual and nobody takes ranked seriously enough. Imo siege is best played when everyone is dedicated to practicing and doing what is needed to win. Actual team work and accomplishing an objective as a team is the most engaging and fun time. I cannot enjoy casual, and ranked disappointments me. And I cannot find people that care enough

"The only playing with friends" is a really good point. I love my friends for who they are and I have the most fun of my life when I do stupid stuff with them. But playing Six Siege? It's really rough, because most of the time I have to carry them through the rounds, especially since I hit platin, the enemies got tougher. Most of my friends can't even get out of Bronze and end up with 1-2 kills and 5+ deaths every match. They are basically casual players and it is really hard for me to rank up with them together. When I play Solo Q I sometimes get at least 1 or 2 decent teammates and then I win every match. But obviously Solo Q is boring and most of the time just stupid because of the random teammates.

I gre up playing every coop game ever beside my best friend. Lots of it required "calling out" what to do. Too bad he never went online. As far back as Xbox going online im massively big on communication. My kill/death ratio is half as large as my win ratio for a reason. The game used to reward you more for doing the call outs n prep work an planting. I think they reverse updated it a little the last week or so cause I can get back near the top with the worst k/d ratio on the team. If you watch MLG tournaments the teams hire a manager to run this aspect.
I also disagree with the screen size. On a 55" in front of my hand I can see everything. An 4k or better resolution seems more important than response but you are also correct that it would better if large screens or even projectors had crazy fast response.

Its probably because we have all known each other since elementary, and we know that non of us actually mean it, you just gotta be comfortable and understand that if you are dishing it, you gotta be prepared to take it two or threefold.

I feel like tryharding is a valid term if you're in newcomer tryna learn the game and you don't get a single match without a few smurfs sweating vs new players

I’m convinced i’m the toxic one in the friend group and I don’t know what to do. I’ve always taken games significantly more seriously than everybody else and when my friends throw on purpose I get mad but when I throw late game nobody gets mad at me. I tell them to tell me when i’m being mean or extra but they never say anything

I’m new to Siege and have been playing for a couple months now and love the game. I play on Xbox so what’s the best way to find like minded people that are looking to get better and to continue to play with one another?

7:51 Isn't this the way the xbox controller was designed to be used? Middle on triggers, index on bumpers, and thumbs for everything else?

You didn't have to call me out with #3. . . I have ~500 hours in R6 and most of them playing thermite/lion and rook/mute. I joined my college esports team my freshman year never playing R6 or keyboard mouse and was pretty much stuck support early. 3 years later I'm a high silver player with a 0.7 kd because I can't win gunfights

Support shit is real tho. Me and my friend both got out of copper real fast but i am setting at Gold 1 with a 1.3 WR and 0.7 Kd and he is chilling in Diamon with 1.0 WR and a 1.4 Kd.
