it can also depend how dry it is. blood dries brown, and when there’s a lot in one spot, it can look black when all of it dries. the clots and blobs we get too also tend to be a dark red or black. it’s just how blood works
or it could also be blood from the past period that just stayed there until the next period

If your period is over and some tissue blood is left in your uterus then it comes out black in the next period because it's already dry and after a while when the period blood dries it becomes black (please don't mind my English i am not fluent in English)
So that is the reason why your blood is black and it's totally normal just some dried blood is coming out after a while of bleeding it will come out as normal
Also if your discharge have a green color means you're on an infection
Yeast infection- the discharge is White thick cloudy and sticky

When I got brown period blood at the age of 12, I didn't know it was normal. Yeah, I knew what a period was and I was prepared, but I was also confused when it was brown. I think this should be talked about in school more. Girls know what a period is, but the color of the blood, the extreme cramps, the embarrasment some girls have, and the heaviness of the flow aren't talked about that much. Maybe it's just the schools I grew up in, but a period is more then just "peeing blood."

Brown period dosen't necessarily mean you're pregnant, it happens when the blood is not fresh and didn't leave the uterus for a long time
Black means the same as brown but if it's accompanied by itching , swelling , bad smell etc you should show it to the doctor
Pink blood is just blood mixed with cervixal fluid so it's nothing to worry about , but it can be a sign of Anemia
Orange is the same as pink but it's also a sign of infection
Purple can be normal for some people on heavy flow days , it occurs in people with high estrogen levels

2. Yess, dark red/maroon is normal till the whole cycle but if you notice unusual odour, yellow/green/pink/orange blood, burning or itchiness, or extreme pelvic pain, talk to your mother/guardian about it and tell to take you to the doctors :))
3. yes, like u said, all bodies are different and you can get your period at any time, anywhere. i know someone who had their period at 4 and my best friend started at 10 whereas i started a little later than usual, 13 1/2

I think it's quite wholesome the amount of people here who seem to be younger? (from the amount of virgin comments) who are actively watching things about their own body to learn. @@odessawales it is not in my intention to exclude people, but in my knowledge Trans men stop getting their menstrual cycle once on testosterone. I am also confused because my older brother is Trans and almost fully transitioned and I don't think he would want to be included in a talk about women since it would invalidate him? I am not trying to be difficult I am just 🥲?

Can someone help! my period blood was brown on day 1, now it’s dark red but went back to brown, but it’s not showing on my pad but only when I wipe. I am freaking out, I am 14 and scared and I am not new to my period, I’ve had it since 9 and it’s really dry and only last 2 days.

I once went to a gynecologist and complained about horrible smells, bad color of period blood, and even told them how my uterus was hurting too much.
