Love that Dairy Queen. Me and a good buddy of mine always travel down from Ormond Beach to get our hotdogs there when riding our motorcycles. You can’t hardly get near that place on warmer days. They do a fantastic business and keep that place looking so good. I like that place much better than the newer Dairy Queen’s with the inside tables. There’s so much nostalgia at this one. Thanks for sharing your video.
It’s 43 today in South Jersey today, 30 tomorrow, I go to work at 4 am and it’s cold! Looking forward to this! Thank you Tampa Jay, really appreciate your work
Thanks for going to new Smyrna Beach. I spent my teenage years there in the 1970s. It was a great beach town. I enjoyed seeing it again. Thanks, Tampa Jay.
Nice to see New Smyrna Beach especially there on the beach and seeing the area looking at the shops with the local Dairy Queen which is one of my favorite fast food places especially with the chocolate milkshakes have a great week Jay.🍔🍟🍦🍨👍
I remember stopping at that DQ after school in the 80s. I never knew it was the the oldest in the state. Marching down Flagler Av in the NSB Christmas parade is one of my favorite childhood memories. Thanks for the nostalgia Jay.
Love this video Jay. At one time we had two dairy queens here in our town in Georgia. All my sisters and brothers worked there growing up. We even had a Tasty Freeze😀
Hey, I am from east of Muncie. Dairy Queen is my favorite place. I didnt know we had we had a historic Dairy Queen in Fl. Im in Ocala. thanks for this Jay
Great video Jay. New Smyrna has some of my favorite restaurants, and I have driven by the Dairy Queen many times in season, and it does get very backed up. Hopefully when you returned to Tampa you drove south on 95, west on the Beachline to 417, 417 to the west (yes past Celebration) then onto I4 west all the way back to Tampa. You also get to see the famous Mickey power pole. This route avoids about 75% of Orlando’s traffic.
I like how that Dairy Queen has stayed to its original form since it first opened in the 50s. They’ve definitely done an amazing job maintaining it and even embracing it’s retro look on its website
There was a DQ in Ocala that was similar to that one when we lived there in the 1980's, I am not sure if it is still there but my husband remembered it being there when he would visit family nearby in the 1960's. I saw a DQ like that up in North Conway, New Hampshire when I worked up there one summer in 1972. Since they had no outside seating they closed in winter. Thanks for sharing about the one in New Smyrna, it opened the year I was born. Yikes, I am old!
I lived on Chicago St. in joliet Illinois in the 80s to mid 90s and used to play in the building which held the original DQ that opened in the 40s. My friends family had a business in the space and lived upstairs. Never knew it until about 2 years ago, pretty cool!
Hey tampajay just want to say I enjoy your videos of Florida espeacially by the water also wanted to say my condolences for your recent loss hopefully I can meet you sometime in the future and say hello anyway have a great day I’ll be watching

My parents drove me and my brother from Concord, NH to New Smyrna Beach back in 1973 when I was 11 years old. We swam in the ocean a lot but didn't see any sharks thankfully! I couldn't believe how warm the ocean was as we had only been in the ocean in Maine which is very cold! Also, no beaches in Maine allow you to drive on them, and that was also weird to us that my father drove us right onto the beach!
Jay, my mom has a 2019 Subaru Forrester and she loves it. Her car too has a sunroof. Visiting Florida is on my bucket list. I have NEVER been to Florida before.
That is a stop for me at least once a year. I have never seen it so empty. The reason for the parking lot size is that one the weekends it fills up and lines can be long, but move fast.
Thanks Tampa Jay. It was great to see all that sand and ocean. Being up here in Ohio, we just dont get those views. I actually stayed in Melbourne many years ago. Up here in Ohio, we call chili dogs---coney dogs. Some folks don't know what you're saying when you ask for one lol Thanks for the trip to the beach---especially in January!
Great to see a video with mention of sharks with the backdrop of water in winter.🦈Dairy Queen always make me think back to my childhood. Whenever on vacation or just being part of the summer landscape. Ice cream, DQ blizzards, good times.🍦🍧🍨
My oldest daughter won a Halloween costume. Contest when she was 7. A pirate Arrrrrrrr and the prize was 20 free blizzards. We got 2 for a month for about a year. Lol! There are winners and there's losers but that ain't no big deal. Ain't that America! For you and me Oh now I have little pink houses stuck in my head for days! Thanks alot! Lol!
NSB my favorite town in Florida i was suppose to move there when i retired in 2007 but other thing came up :( super cool downtown and yes cool old time Dairy Queen been there several time. oh and no way would i swim in the shark waters .
My. Best friend lives on park street off of south pasadena. You won't believe this. She's got a shuffle board in her backyard. When she bought the house in 1994 It had the shuffle board Park street is where a lot of big houses. And she had apartment built in the back the lady she. Bought the house from. She raised 5 Boys. In the house. But they never use the shuffle board ever.

This DQ would be the perfect one to get an old school "belt buster!'
