James, what I really love about your channel, is that it is not just about scuba-diving as a recreational activity, but that you also like to geek out over the science and history of the sport. Very much appreciated and keep up the videos!
Great interview, very entertaining. Just bought the audio book and a hard copy also. Can't wait to "dive" into reading it.... Sorry, couldn't resist the bad Dad joke.... 😊
Obviously not read Rachels book yet (but will definitely be getting it ordered!), but for anyone interested in this area would very much recommend The Sunken Gold by Joseph A. Williams, which tells the story of the recovery of 44 tons of gold from the sunken HMS Laurentic off the shore of Ireland from 1917 by Lieutenant Commander Guybon Damant who worked with J.B.S. Haldane. Rachels book sounds like a great read.
What a TERRIFIC book!! Bought the Kindle (and audio) versions as soon as it was released, and have been absolutely riveted! Unbelieveable the tenacity, courage, and dedication of these scientists. Thanks for introducing your broader audience to Rachel Lance - a scientist and badass former Navy Diver in her own right, she writes like a skilled mystery author, keeping me glued to the book for hours on end. I’ll never think about the models and algorithms the same way again. Thanks James, and thanks Rachel!
This book sounds amazing. I love history and the science of diving. Having them together in one book is really exciting! Thank you Dr. Lance and James for this interview. James, great content. Keep it coming man!
Hearty thanks to you and Rachel Lance for this interview. As a diver, undersea medical professional and hyperbaric chamber operator and teacher, as well as a history buff - this book sounded like it would hit all my marks. So, I immediately got it and it certainly has done exactly what I had hoped. It is thoroughly enjoyable with its scientific accuracy and humorous style. Actually, have to force myself to put it down in order to get daily necessities done. Bravo and brava!
Great interview. Thank you for doing it. I loved her first book. I couldn't put down. I just bought the second and will start it as soon as i finish "The Shipwreck Hunter", probably in the next week or so.
Great interview: I bought the book straight away. Loved the American English jab, although i have to say, James, that you do sometimes go a bit native worth your pronunciation of "buoy" 😂
I’ve done 6 chamber rides @ 2.4ata for 110 min. It’s repairing my nerve damage But I know what study she is talking about. I think they took them to a max of like 7 ata. On rebreathers and the cause of the oxygen toxicity what due to co2 retention

What a good interview on a subject that I’m looking forward to read about.

Great interview! Congrats to both James for conducting and Rachel for making such content available to us all! I’m eager to cracking to book open now
Holy moly!!! Just what I was looking for! A book about the history of diving 💪🏽🤙🏾
What an amazing story and dedicated young (youngish) scientist. I love diving and military history, and I can't wait to get my hands on my own copy.
Thank you for for bringing this book to me attention, and to Dr, Lance for writing it! It's a good read and a fascinating story.

Great conversation. This new book is even better than the first, which was outstanding!

Amazing these scientists lived through the testing. And I can't imagine being in a re-compression chamber during the Blitz.
When I took my Open Water class in 1976 Haldane's Law was taught; is it still taught?
Well now, how long to the "part 2"?!?

Brits attitude just because they pronounce English the way its spelled!😄😄
