I was there Saturday and to your question I'd say I do sort of prefer it to be busier with nicer weather but would totally take advantage of a bad weather day to get the attractions in. Winterfest is one of those kinds of things where I sort of just enjoy being in the park and walking around taking it all in, so when it's super busy like it was Saturday I just skip the rides and chill.
We were wondering if Saturday was busy too. If we were local to the park then I’d be more ok with less rides and more atmosphere, and we do love the atmosphere but we also want to get in some rides after driving three hours.

We were there opening night. Our group waited over an hour for mystic. Went back last Saturday and it was even busier. Planning on going for new years eve.
They did change some things for 12 days. A lot more lights and some more signs and repositioning of the 12 days lights. Go check it out since it’s gotten an upgrade.
I like it a little colder so I can drink the hot chocolate all night. This year we didn't get any because it just wasn't cold enough to us. We usually can ride the antique cars, but not this year. Way too busy and line was long.

I would prefer the shorter lines. I can always dress warmer.

Ice skating was $20 opening night. It starts at $17. I don't know who told you $15.
The worker at the skating rink told us that.
