I've watched GHOST STORIES in both languages, and while the English dub is awesome and hilarious, the original Japanese version is LAME. It's not hard at all for me to see why this bombed in it's native country. Here's a sample of some of the dialogue from one episode in the original Japanese language when, during a quiet moment when the kids aren't dealing with ghosts at the moment, the two female leads Satsuki and Momoko are headed to a beauty parlor: MOMOKO: "I think your braids are very cute." SATSUKI: "What? Really?" MOMOKO: "Really!" SATSUKI: "Really, really?" MOMOKO: "Really, really." SATSUKI: "Really, really, really?" MOMOKO: "Really, really, really." SATSUKI: "Really, really, really, really?" Need I say more?
And then comes Animax who says "Lets make our own dub based purely based off of the original script". I wonder how their ratings went after that decision.

I love how they gave the characters more individuality and so much depth. Like they made Momoko a devoted Christian and it's easy to believe she grew up as one but her lore just kept getting deeper in the most hilarious but sensical way. That she was a "convert" and who used to be a drug and sex addict and occasionally forgets her medications was something I didn't see coming. 🤣

We need more dubs like that. Not because it’s the ultimate kind of writing style, but because it is super fun for the actors and I’m just gonna say, we did an improved divorce trial in my freshman drama class, it followed a plot, we executed the husband, it was great But when you give actors a basic story and room to do whatever they want Nothing is funnier.
The original show was made for kids, and it's been recently shown that the original show didn't bomb in japan, they just knew that it wouldn't do well in US as the show was a kid's show about japanese urban legends. The rest of it is true though.

I wonder if the Ghost Stories dub actually did end up making any $$ though..I don't remember it airing on any U.S networks back in the day but there are a few late night channels where I think it could have fit in for a little while though to at least make some ad revenue.. Personally, I believe Monica, I don't see why she'd lie. Some aspects of the victims stories are a bit dodgy which is why I'm somewhat on the fence, as a victim myself I want to believe them, but considering everything thats happened and how low I've personally seen women go, both in real life and over the Internet, it wouldnt surprise me one bit if it came out some time later that it was all a lie and thats sad as well as quite telling about the decade as well as things concerning this kind of drama.

The best version was the dubbed this one rare occasions i'd say it was completely better then the original.
I wonder if the Ghost Stories dub actually did end up making any $$ though..I don't remember it airing on any U.S networks back in the day but there are a few late night channels where I think it could have fit in for a little while though to at least make some ad revenue.. I think now it's at least on a couple streaming services so it may have took a while but maybe 15-20 years later and the original creators are finally starting to see 🤑

The court case you are referring to concerned defamation, conspiracy, and Interference against Funimation and other VAs. You realize Vic won 0 and lost 17 of those claims. Most of them dismissed by his own lawyer. The rest thrown out by the judge.

I never said the court is 100% absolute. But when you lose 17 of your claims and the Appellate court is sitting on your appeal then that means you have no evidence for your claims. Vic was the plaintiff. He failed to provide any sort of evidence to support his claims.

@@GiordanDiodato How do you even know he was talking about the controversy. As a woman, I'd also say other women lying about assault also makes it difficult for us to come forward as it makes any claim suspect.
It creates mistrust especially over the internet where people are generally dubious about certain things as it is. This isn't indicative of women in general, but you have to admit that on the internet atleast, women haven't exactly had the best track record when it comes to lying about this sort of thing. It makes people weary about trusting these kinds of stories because they have been burned in the past, considering the frequency of it coming out that certain high profile stories have turned out to be false. Spoctor Theory, Pro Jared, Johnny Depp, that whole bit with that Australian youtuber (Forgot his name) That bloke that killed himself, one after another after another. Naturally when people say traumatic things its our natural instinct to want to believe them, but our trust has been taken advantage of enough times on here to where it starts becoming a boy who cried wolf situation so now where we'd give our trust out the gate, with the other stories in your mind, its always at the back of your head now...wondering, is it true. You know what I mean? I get the idea of "Believe women" but as noble a concept as this is in practice its difficult because we don't live in a perfect world. The truth is, like in the case of Johnny Depp, there are some nasty women out there and just nasty people in general so you can't trust anyone anymore really.
Personally, I believe Monica, I don't see why she'd lie. Some aspects of the victims stories are a bit dodgy which is why I'm somewhat on the fence, as a victim myself I want to believe them, but considering everything thats happened and how low I've personally seen women go, both in real life and over the Internet, it wouldnt surprise me one bit if it came out some time later that it was all a lie and thats sad as well as quite telling about the decade as well as things concerning this kind of drama.
