I saw them live on this tour. The stage was sparse, but there was a giant DJ stand made of 20 ft tall Bud Tall Boys. They'd come out on stage, each carrying a six pack of tall boys by the plastic and start popping them open. They'd take one drink, shake it a little and throw the remainder into the (all ages) crowd. It was fucking ridiculous. It was brilliant.
I can't believe they all stayed alive long enough to become insanely famous. I'm glad they cleaned up their shit.

I grew up with the Beasties. Bro, the parties back in the day were so much fun. There was no internet, no cell phones, no woke MFs, no Karens, none of the society BS that we have today. Just pure and total fun. House parties were like you'd imagine.
One time, during the high school days, I had a party at my (parent's) house while the parents were away for a few days. We made flyers to pass out (for real - a proper flyer that we made and got copies at Kinko's). There was probably a hundred peeps at my place for the whole night. I had a skateboard ramp and large backyard. The house was full and the backyard was alive. Music was jamming (Beasties in the mix, of course), beers were been slammed, the ramp being skated, we had roman candle fireworks being lit, maybe a joint or two being passed around, and just good times to be had. Guys were getting the girls and girls were getting the guys. No stress in the air, just good vibes. Everyone was having fun and it was just a rad time. People didn't take things too serious back then.
I miss those days. And I miss the Beasties.
Their live shows were some of the best ever.

this album in particular of the Beastie Boys they were kind of playing characters. this is why they kind of took them 3 years to come out with their next album, MCA got a little a little tired of playing this character in particular, but this album is a ton of FUN!

Ask anyone in their 50s and they'll recite this entire album. This was THE party album in the late 80s. Still reminds me of weed and Mickey's Big Mouth.

I remember memorizing this entire album in one weekend back in 6th grade. 1986. Me and my buddy Pat memorized the while thing. Mind Blowing. These guys are hip hop royalty and don't get nearly as much credit as they deserve. Unreal. It was all about Beastie Boys, RUN DMC, Houdini, Fat Boys, etc. Soon after that it was all about NWA, Public Enemy, Slick Rick...

I’ve loved the B Boys since I was in jr high in 1985. My best friend and I wore out my tape of Licensed to Ill memorizing every word, every rhyme, every beat. Two preteen white girls in the 334 (The Gump) and we couldn’t get enough. Paul’s Boutique is a masterpiece. I’d love to see you react to Sure Shot or several others from Ill Communication.

Awesome reaction, you want another 'stop what you're doing' moment from the Beastie Boys? Check out "B-Boy Bouillabaisse", the final track on their best album Paul's Boutique, 12min magnum opus, with some balls to the wall bass!

I highly recommend the song Holy Snappers, it’s before they did HipHop and genuinely it’s so fire. There’s a music video for it :) love your reactions you’re really funny !! Some other of their OLDDDDD stuff ya should listen to is Jimi, Beastie Boys, Egg Raid on Mojo, Michelle’s farm, and Transit Cop. It’s way different than stuff like this song, and the song Beastie Boys is one of my favorites.

The thing most don't know about the beastie boys is they used to play hardcore music, the shows are all slam dancing, the pit at the show was insane!!! Pit went nutz!!! This was in NYC, not sure if they went hard in other cities.

Unfortunately most of the "hip hop" community NEVER embraced the Beastie Boys but instead labled them as "frat boy" music.
To this day they don't get the respect they deserve from most involved in the "hip hop community" 😑
