they're $220k for a pair. and to be honest, I've yet to hear anything from any demo that would make me shell out that kind of money for a speaker set. I've heard better sounding speakers at $500
Heard these in person couple weeks ago, in a professional mastering studio. They do sound sublime! On this video, the recording chain isn't nearly of as high quality as the speakers. You'd need something like a good Neumann large aperture condenser microphone and a studio-quality ADC to capture an approximation of Utopia's performance.

Focal choisi toujours des musiques magnifiques, merci à Isle Delange pour ce titre très représentatif de la haute technicité d'enregistrement en terme de fidélité sonore. Mais Focal ne connait pas tout, il y a quelques Cds très méconnu qui se vendent chère chez rares revendeurs dont j'ai quelques uns qui sont encore mieux .. avis aux amateurs
Les meilleures prises de son sont pour la radio France musique ( classique et jazz ) avec un très bon tuner et une antenne digne de ce nom , genre magnum dynalab et tuner accuphase t 101 ou revox b 760 , rien à voir avec la plupart des cd !Et en plus si vous faites comme moi , vos propres prises de son avec du nagra IV-S à bandes ou nagra numérique LB en 24 bit avec des micrso neuman km 184 , alors la cela explose tout !

yep i know all about that. the audio in my car sounds crystal clear so now i find myself buying cd's on labels such as sony because theyre always recorded well.
i think its realy strange that people post videos like this of the sound quality of some brand , the sound wont get any better then the speakers u r listening it through so if u like myself have a 20 euro headset this 130.000 euro speaker stil sounds rubbish :) i would like to hear it in real though
Lets not forget even before it gets to your speakers you are limited to the mic. I think the idea is it is the best possible way to see different things. Pretty impressive upon looking at them I would say. Never really understood the real world application of these though, it would have to be for a dedicated music room and a really large one at that.
I like these and you must too because you are here. I actually can hear differences in speakers , but I know it is microphone, and my pc to JBL monitors. But I still like listening. I have found quite a few new artists I had never heard of before too.

I own a similar modest system: Focal Grande Utopia and McIntosh pre-amps and amps per speaker, but am no longer satisfied with the sound quality. I am looking for more scale, depth and resolution and find this set-up too limiting. What is my upgrade path?
If you have FGU, buy Lamm ML3 signature monos, for highs and mids and Lamm M1.2 Reference monos for bass… Bi amp them and dont forget Lamm LL1.1 dual mono preamp…. Then magic start to happen

All you people saying it sounds crappy, TH-cam compresses the sound you are hearing quite a lot and whatever you are using albiet earbuds, closed ear headphones, affordable home audio, computer speakers, whatever, you CANNOT get the same tone and clarity that these high end speakers in this video are creating. Nice looking speakers but far, far away from a €77.500,00 price!! For that money, one can fly to Japan for a week, get custom KENRICK SOUND set of speakers (maybe ugly but way better sounding ones), have it shipped it to Europe or US, pay a custom fee and still have a lot of "spare change" in a pocket.

Jeff Fuehr 60k? The speakers alone are 130k, considering they use mono blocks and everything high end you can probably add the same value as the speakers on top of it. They probably even use 10k€ cables because reasons....
oh i watched closer .... so i guess the middle rack consist of two playback devices ( maybe cd and something else) the bottom middle is the tube preamp thats for sure and its bi amping not tri amping and there are two amps for the the speakers left and right..

C'est surtout pour le coup d'oeil quoi :) .. pour le son, il faut se rendre sur place c'est d'une telle évidence qu'il est même inutile de le mentionner ... écouter ça sur TH-cam, vu que ça a été filmé au caméscope voir pire, avec un smartphone, le son est totalement ruiné forcément ... quand bien même cela serait filmé, enregistré et reproduit avec une très grande qualité, sur du matériel très haut de gamme , il y aurait de toute façon une perte énorme ... Après il faut bien être conscient que ce genre de vidéo plaisent aux fabricants de Hifi, car c'est de la visibilité gratuite pour eux ... c'est important de se faire voir et connaître sur le web, et par la même occasion, de se faire désirer, de susciter l'envie chez les futurs clients potentiels .. alors ils ne vont certainement pas se gêner .. même si ça n'a pas de sens :) ....
il y a des vidéos qui sont bluffantes, on sent le côté aérien des enceintes, comme des grosses jbl à haut rendement dont les japonais sont fan. mais là je suis d'accord dans celle ci le son est dégueulasse.
Focal make great speakers, and have done for decades. but this recording quality is just dross, and in no way does the utopia's justice. Go and listen to them for real. Are they the best speakers in the world ? Are they worth the money ? I don't know, why not go listen to them + other makes, and make your own mind up, lazy ! ;0)
Le son semble terriblement bouché, avec trop de réverbération et cela manque d'infra grave et de grave, il est évident que c'est avant tout la qualité de la prise de son qui est très mauvaise et très certainement dû à un micro intégré au camescope et non d'un micro avec préamplificateur externe! Dommage, car cela ne rend pas justice à la qualité d'un tel ensemble !
+Jarod Ds J'écoute beaucoup de chose sur you tube et en fonction de la qualité de transfert audio de la vidéo, les résultats vont de très bons à très mauvais, bien sur que l'ont peut entendre de l'infra grave sur you tube, tout dépends du matériel (carte son et système audio qui est branché sur votre ordinateur)! Non je ne connaissais pas Isle Delange, mais je viens d'écouter son titre "Miracle" qui est très jolie, ça voie me fais penser à une autre artiste Américaine, dont je ne retrouve pas le nom et dont le grain de voix est assez similaire. En tout cas et pour avoir réecouter la vidéo de cette démo Mc Intosh / focal, c'est une catastrophe sonore au vue de l'investissement, mais le matériel n'est pas responsable, c'est la prise de son!

+Jarod Ds Je voie que voue voulez tester mes compétences techniques, Oui je possède une chaine capable de reproduire l'infra grave, alors certe, la première octave est un petit peu écourté entre 20 et 30hz et pas aussi physique que je le souhaiterais , mais dans l'ensemble j'ai une excellente fusion et cohérences des registres avec les autres plages de fréquences! Mon lieu d'écoute fais 50M2 et le rendement moyen est de 92db 1W/M.
In anything but a huge room the Grande Utopias are way too bass heavy. In typical domestic listening rooms the older GRs with their multiple huge woofers have measured an over 20 db rise in bass frequencies.

Piękne kolumny, ale przenoszą same środki sopranów i basów jak na lekarstwo. Odsluchalem już tu kilku i jak zwykle po zakupie zmieniłbym od razu wysokie.
Focal starts building there own speakers and everyone like Wilson Audio drops using there drivers. Focal's version of the Wilson Maxx or Alexandria. Focal should concentrate on Building Woofers & Mid's again. I have heard a pair and not too impressed. One problem is they use all Focal Drivers. German & England Just Builds Much Nicer Sounding tweeters. Cabinets are getting over expensive and still not time aligned so what's the point? All hi end speakers still sound the same and seams like I am the only guy who knows why or has the solution!
I will demo my loudspeakers, once I get my source sorted. I haven't heard any speakers that I want apart from the ones I live with. Naims statement is basically just an over isolated amp. Over priced and not worth the money, there is plenty of choice of much lower priced amps available that sound better than the statement. Salesmen sell things for what they hope to get, commission. Spiel and plenty of bull.

Le son semble terriblement bouché, avec trop de réverbération et cela manque d'infra grave et de grave, il est évident que c'est avant tout la qualité de la prise de son qui est très mauvaise et très certainement dû à un micro intégré au camescope et non d'un micro avec préamplificateur externe!
Dommage, car cela ne rend pas justice à la qualité d'un tel ensemble !

+Jarod Ds J'écoute beaucoup de chose sur you tube et en fonction de la qualité de transfert audio de la vidéo, les résultats vont de très bons à très mauvais, bien sur que l'ont peut entendre de l'infra grave sur you tube, tout dépends du matériel (carte son et système audio qui est branché sur votre ordinateur)!
Non je ne connaissais pas Isle Delange, mais je viens d'écouter son titre "Miracle" qui est très jolie, ça voie me fais penser à une autre artiste Américaine, dont je ne retrouve pas le nom et dont le grain de voix est assez similaire.
En tout cas et pour avoir réecouter la vidéo de cette démo Mc Intosh / focal, c'est une catastrophe sonore au vue de l'investissement, mais le matériel n'est pas responsable, c'est la prise de son!

+Jarod Ds Je voie que voue voulez tester mes compétences techniques, Oui je possède une chaine capable de reproduire l'infra grave, alors certe, la première octave est un petit peu écourté entre 20 et 30hz et pas aussi physique que je le souhaiterais , mais dans l'ensemble j'ai une excellente fusion et cohérences des registres avec les autres plages de fréquences!
Mon lieu d'écoute fais 50M2 et le rendement moyen est de 92db 1W/M.

Piękne kolumny, ale przenoszą same środki sopranów i basów jak na lekarstwo. Odsluchalem już tu kilku i jak zwykle po zakupie zmieniłbym od razu wysokie.
Focal starts building there own speakers and everyone like Wilson Audio drops using there drivers. Focal's version of the Wilson Maxx or Alexandria. Focal should concentrate on Building Woofers & Mid's again. I have heard a pair and not too impressed. One problem is they use all Focal Drivers. German & England Just Builds Much Nicer Sounding tweeters. Cabinets are getting over expensive and still not time aligned so what's the point? All hi end speakers still sound the same and seams like I am the only guy who knows why or has the solution!
You cannot tell how anything sounds on youtube.. I don't know why anyone ever tries to show off speakers this way other than a cosmetic showing.

I will demo my loudspeakers, once I get my source sorted. I haven't heard any speakers that I want apart from the ones I live with. Naims statement is basically just an over isolated amp. Over priced and not worth the money, there is plenty of choice of much lower priced amps available that sound better than the statement.

My vintage Klipsch Cornwall´s with Yarland EL84 tube 10 Watt amplification blows this set-up away and that for a few bucks compared to this.
