Is there anyone listening to this exquisite rendition in 2020?
once a month, at least
@@marialuisaguidi9285 good to know. How amazing version of this classic isn't it?
@@marialuisaguidi9285 By the way - it's already 2021 and I can get enough of it!!!
still in 2023!
@@marialuisaguidi9285 I have been listening to this for years, had no idea there was a video as well
2024? And this still is a gem. Clearly the inspiration for the version on the voice that had millions of views
It's a stunning cover. Came across it by accident on Spotify ❤
Every time I watch this I'm blown away by how effortless Marling is. She just sits there looking like she's bored but singing some seriously beautiful stuff!
Man, she's just tired and bored with herself.
Exact same thought 😭
She doesn't seem bored but rather moved by the deepness and darkness of this song
I am proud to say I'm responsible for about 50 views of this masterpiece
Me too mate
Same here. I LOVE this cover.
@@matthewwatson9726 love this cover. Hope you don't mind if I use this in my shows
Xxxx
@@matthewwatson9726 I have to have at least 100 now.
This is definitely the best cover of this song out there.
Their delivery is absolutely out of this world. Eddie has that clipped tone which he delivers with such deft timing...and Laura always takes the harmonic road your brain is not expecting. She has the delicacy and intimacy in her voice that is irresistible...but takes your attention and does not give it back to you. You hear the music, instrumentation, and everything else...you are fully in, but you crave just another morsel of that intoxicating voice delivered as if she had not a care in the world and as if it cost her no energy whatsoever to deliver it.
(Incredibly, she looks as if she has the world on her shoulders.)
The other musicians do their work as if they were born to it. The accompaniment is completely on point. It carries not just the voices but my mind with it. They are as powerfully mesmerizing as Laura and Eddie. They create a stage for these two to shine on. This is music for the soul. Music for the deeper regions. Music for the late, late night and very early morning. This is music.
I just love how their voices go together. Both of them so understated. All the feels here.
How splendidly do these two voices go together? Such effortless harmony. I just love me some melancholy.
So agree with you!
Wow! This is so fine.
Seeing Laura tomorrow night @ The Chapel. This just adds fuel to the fire of anticipation.
You can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart.
Keep coming back to this one, masterpiece
Beautiful cover mind blowing ❤
Interesting that they omitted the bridge. One of life‘s many mysteries. ; )
My fave ever version of this song!!
I just can't get enough of E major key. E, A,D, Bmaj7, Fsharpmaj7, Csharpmin7 songs. I'm friggin obsessed.
I know this was a hit for Bruce Springsteen, but this version speaks to me. I like everything about it. Wonderful interpretation, thanks.
Agree, I love Springsteen yet this arrangement excels.
Please Springsteen is a classic rock guitar drums bass of course they can do it bettet
This is so moving Laura and Eddie, beautiful and haunting, thanks, Mike
I thought Pete Yorn had an amazing mellow cover of this song. And he does. But this... this... this blows that out of the water.
Gorgeously Done!!!!!
There is nothing like good music. I mean nothing!!!!!
nice
I have always loved this song and this rendition is superb. Left speechless by the clarity and feeling of Marling’s voice here.
I’ve watched / listened to this many times and I’m astonished by Marling’s singing! Is it genuinely live in this? She looks so casual. I’m not denying she is incredible but...Maybe re recorded later? Watch it again -what do you think?
Ignore that, it is live. Just amazing!
She seems tired and bored with herself.
@@franzschubert10 She does a bit.
ah laura you casual soul
For those wanting tabs: pretty straightforward variations of D, G, A throughout. That's it.
laura has the voice of an angel
She sounds like a fallen angel :)
THE DUDE ON THE SQUEEZE BOX WAS SENSATIONAL !
He played with Laura at Secret Cinema gigs and they did this song. He had self released CDs for sale which includes this and "Help Me When I Say" with LM, 6 tracks in total for a fiver...lovely stuff!
had this on my mind for a while, there is something special about this cover
simply stunning.
I wake up in the evening
Man, I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning
I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired
Man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help
You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
even if we're just dancing in the dark
Message keeps getting clearer
radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place
I check my look in the mirror
I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man I ain't getting nowhere
I'm just living up in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere
oh baby I just know that there is
You can't start a fire
you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
even if we're just dancing in the dark
Stay on the streets of this town
and they'll be carving you up alright
They say you gotta stay hungry
hey baby I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action
I'm sick of sitting 'round tryna write this book
I need a love reaction
come on baby gimme just one look
You can't start a fire
you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire sitting 'round crying over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
spread the word! love it, thanks
im enchanted, captivated. something magical here. thank you

A wonderful take on this tune. Very nice indeed.
I love it !
Learn something new every day!
Lovely take on this great tune.
I agree! really brilliant!
Si, lo admito, me enamoré de esta hermosa canción... ¡me encanta!
This is my fav or second fav boss cover and I only have ☝️ example of the other Chris Cornell Thunder Road. Sorry this is just a wonderful song. Had to say something. These two covers are so different and yet so touching.
Truly monumental piece of music. And I don't even know this fella is.
Thank God she's on my side of the pond now. ;)
this sooo amazing. i have no words. bruce, you would be amazed, too..
Amen!
Incredible
Beautiful
Fantástico....simplesmente relaxante
off to see the Boss in June, lovely job Laura!!
Danke. Ihr habt den Song verstanden! Love it!
This is the best cover. I don't know why it's not the first in the search...?
amazing
gorgeous
Amazing cover. I like it alot !
OMG!!!!! Thanks!!!
Who broke their hand and hit the 'dislike' button?!?!!? This is phenomenal.
Yah! It’s absolutely a masterpiece…who on this planet would intentionally dislike?
I also love his You Can Call me Al!!!
STIRRING!!
❤️
Yes.
Really cool.
❤️.
awesome
its a shame Laura Marling isn't credited to this song on the Spotify version, all the more that it's the most interesting part.
The added value starts at: 1:08. The song is her
Wow wow wow
Really nice cover!
Nice Eddie!
more pleeeease!
❤️❤️❤️
Not a happy song, but the 'ethos' fits to an evening just about 3 years ago. I felt so happy and sad at the same timeI
The fire started with a spark that evening...
Badass
i concur
Is it bad to say I like this version more than the original
I believe the whole band is his band. I looked at some other videos of him playing and the girl playing the violin was definitely the same one. Other than that, I dunno.
Anyway, this is so lovely!
ohhhh laura
one of my favorite covers as of now.
Laura. That is all.
Would you please tell me which tuning you´re using on guitar? Awesome version! I love it!
Is that Amy Farrah Fowler on violin?
👌👍👍👌👍👌👍👌👍
Beautiful version of this song. Anyone got the guitar tab?
Eddie berman
I came here to get myself up after hearing some genius work of Xiu Xiu....
Should be Laura Marling with an assist from Eddie Berman.
Where can I found the this chords for guitare please! We want to play it in us music school!
His voice is meh....but Laura’s voice is a thing of beauty. Just effortless and haunting.
who is he??? I want more!
Is this going to be released on Eddie's EP?

Cool but... I don't like the fake twang when they sing "dancing"... Otherwise great cover of a pop song with some pretty good lyrics.
GOD BLESS USA!!!!!!!
He's a fingerstyle guitarist so the nails are necessary to play. Don't be so quick to judge.
big like from little israel :)
Why is Eddie's name bigger than Laura's? I never 'eard of 'im.
Beautiful - although I think Laura steals the show - he could be Garth Brooks or the other bloke from The Voice - Country Music isn't that big in the UK
not really asking for some action -
Laura. marry me
there is a difference between different and sucks
Please, if they want to sing a folk song, create themselves, Dancing In A Dark is a powerful song, that's why it is called Rock and Roll. I highly doubt anyone can sing it acoustic and it can sound good, too tough. If you listen to 1980s version, well the original version, you would be mind blown.
I don't think you understand how covers work.
UnlistedInvisibility thank you. took the words right out my mouth. no emotion from the two best lines in the song.
you're singing the boss, get your fuckin finger out of your mouth
It's a song about disillusionment and loneliness. Of course they can interpret it in a melancholy way - it fits the lyrics perfectly. Just because Springsteen performed it as a driving rock tune doesn't mean all covers have to mimic him.
@@the_katman2181 I've never cared for this song-- until now.
