      I had fun putting in period-appropriate minifigures and other cameos there. 😁 As per the usual Time Cruiser disguise logic, Timmy and Dr. Cyber blend right in because they're wearing different hats. 😆

    Where are you getting this information from? Half of these characters are not featured in ANY of the pirates books/comics. In my opinion, none of this is actually canon the the Lego Pirates story.

    • @loreescape47
      @loreescape47  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Hey Ayden, I've put my story sources in the lower left hand corner graphics throughout the video, but if you have any questions about specific characters or sources I'd be happy to provide more information. The bulk of the stories here are from the six episode German audio drama series available on cassette tape in the 1990s. These were advertised in German LEGO catalogs. Much later they were translated on the Eurobricks forums by a user named Runamuck, and the translations can be found there and at the Emily Internet Zone site. Since I don't speak German I rely on those translations, though on occasion I have gone back to the German transcripts (also made by Runamuck) to find alternate translations if I feel like there's some nuance being lost.
      This series was later re-released without the LEGO Pirate branding in the early 2000s, and can be found on some audio streaming services and for purchase to this day under the title "Piraten Der Meere". You can see artwork from both releases in the video.
      These audio dramas are an extension of the Golden Medallion comic and the Ladybird storybooks in that they feature the same setting and characters like Will, Foul (called Baddog in German), and Camilla, while also introducing new ones like Governor McGeyer and Jeremias the monk. Because the first audio drama was an adaptation of the comic, there are also several characters like Skip and Peter that were not named in the comic, but are given names in the audio drama.
      Not every source I've used/will be using was written with an eye towards maintaining a consistent continuity, but these core stories are an exception--there was a clear attempt to use a consistent set of characters and settings across the comic, storybooks, audio dramas, and a number of other products and experiences. I'd really encourage you to check them out if you've enjoyed the books and comic.
      I have taken some liberties in giving the characters consistent names throughout, since in their original releases the character names changed depending on the country they released in. I've also taken some liberties in tying together story threads that may have been unrelated when they were originally released.
      My goal with these videos is to outline the life of the Redbeard character using as many LEGO related sources as possible--a sort of MOC assembly of the bits and pieces of official information over the years. Some of this is pretty tangential; I doubt that LEGO keeps tabs on the lore coming out of the theme parks or 30 year old audio dramas. One could argue that even within this concept it's unnecessary to include stuff like the unreleased Island of Mist comic and especially the nods to licensed LEGO pirate lore from Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic World, etc. (Not even I would view that as part of the "continuity", but it is fun and a little irresistible in the case of the Nobeard character.)
      It's not intended to enforce any kind of objective canon or continuity; as always that's up to you, the LEGO Maniac to decide. ;) But I do hope that this leads you down some interesting rabbit holes to inform your picture of the LEGO Pirate world.

      @@loreescape47 some things that I am referring to are things like the Maradona story or the entire Nobeard character.
      The legoland parks are also not a good source of lore because the designers of those models did not make anything to do with the official story. And also, where did that information about capatain Kragg being Redbeard’s brother come from? I have looked at all the books and seen the transcripts of the audio dramas, but never saw many things that you talked about mentioned there. I am piecing together my own story, but focusing on the entire theme rather that just the 1989-1991 wave, and I added how brickbeard fits into the story, as well as the reason for encountering 3 different imperial factions and every other character you can think of.

      @@AydenTheCarrot the Madonna story is told in the 6th Pirates audio drama, The Golden Ship (Das goldene Schiff).
      -The character Nobeard appeared in set 6192 and was named and identified as Redbeard's son in the LEGO Quest & Collect mobile game. He was also shown to be in command of the crew from the 2015 pirate chess set in-game.
      Captain Nobeard's treasure was a big part of the LEGO Jurassic World: Legends of Isla Nublar TV show.
      While the two aren't connected officially (and yeah, the shared name is almost certainly a coincidence), it was too good an opportunity to pass up. The original author of Jurassic Park, Michael Crichton, wrote a pirate novel where he re-used an island name from Jurassic Park, so I threw in that as an additional detail as well.
      Finally, there was a pirate on the cover of Captain Roger's Activity Book glaring directly at Redbeard who looks enough like Nobeard that I suggested he might be Nobeard back in Episode 2; I carried that over in this episode as well.
      That's the extent of material covering Nobeard as a character, though I do have some speculation to come in future episodes as to what might have happened to him.
      Kragg was said to be Redbeard's brother in a 2004 catalog as well as the LEGO website that year.

    Who was Will's real father?

    • @loreescape47
      @loreescape47  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Both the Secret of La Sceletta audio drama and the Island of Mist comic state that Will's father was one of Redbeard's old friends who was executed for piracy, and that Redbeard adopted him as a boy. This was treated as a revelation in the audio drama and established fact in the comic.
      The audio drama gives him a name, William Cavendish, and a more elaborate backstory. This would seem to be the definitive answer to Will's parentage, though the audio drama ends with a suggestion that there's yet more to the story than Redbeard is telling, and I included that in the video.
      Not gonna lie though, while there are still two more audio dramas featuring Will and Redbeard to cover, that's as far as this storyline goes, so the resolution is up to your imagination. It could be the ambiguity is unintentional, and that Redbeard is just hiding his sentimental feelings toward Will as his adoptive son. Definitely open to interpretation...
