Sawlogs, tractor and a surprise at the end

in this video, we move logs using the tractor hitch and tongs. This is a pecan tree that was felled back in early February of this year.

Why do tractor drives always have to have the throttle wide open , Especially when Grandpa is standing right behind the tractor ?

Throttle wasn't wide open, and my father in law, told me to keep backing up, until I he got the tongs positioned right so I could lift it up. I was keeping my eye on where he was at all times. He was in no danger of getting hit or anything.
