@@defeqel6537I mean yeah but the 7600xt with 16gb is super slow and lacklustre. I agree that we need the entry cards to have 10 starting and go up from there but they need to have the memory be fast enough to benefit from the amount.

Not at all, its DOA. You can already get the same performance for approx the same price and both AMD and Nvidia drivers are light years ahead. This is an attempt to recoup R&D costs as they abandon the GPU market. AMD and Nvidia are also dropping their GPU's in Q1 2025
@@DebasedAnon yep, I have no idea why people are excited in comments sections. Why on earth would I buy this, if I was looking for a gpu at this price point?
I do feel their first crack at graphics cards were better then most people expected, it really gave a good base to improve on and hopefully they do improve on it
They no longer have the capital to pursue it at the moment. Intel needs to save their CPU business right now I feel like. BUT I would LOVE for there to be a third player in the GPU space. It could do wonderful things for average gamer market competition
@placeholded3853 its very cool because Nvidias best option is slower than the 3070, still jas 8g and is $300 with the 4060. It becomes less cool when you realize amd has been giving us 12gb 6700/6750xts for sub $300 for a while now.
I'm a bit more optimistic, $250 for an entry level 12GB card is fantastic value moving forward. Yes there are competitors today that offer the similar value (3060 12GB, 6700XT) but they are already being fazed out for 4060 8/16GB, 7700XT which this undercuts. Competition is important people! AMD and Nvidia aren't going anywhere but to have Intel join in to keep them honest. This should disway the 8600 from being a $400 card if Intel has a the B770 (rumored 16GB) at $350.
AMD are releasing new GPUs next month too. There really is no point buying a 12gb Intel GPU at this price, unless they drop prices heavily after a while.
@@chy.0190 If I'm not mistaken the usual release of GPus it's the high end releasing first then going lower on the stack. So Intel has a good window of time to sell to the budget end until probably Q2 2025. Also we don't know AMD and NVidia version of "budget" they could very well cost $350
12GB is meaningless if the raw compute power isn't there to utilize it in any _relevant_ way, like it was with the 3060 12GB. On current low-end cards, 12GB and above is just marketing BS, just like the days of the RX 470 8GB which was *far* too slow to utilize 8GB of VRAM in any relevant way.
@@PierrePotonnier _"horrible stutter..."_ Ya riiight... You're probably referring to ancient, now-irrelevant, complaints about *horribly* optimized AAA games that gave the middle finger to budget GPUs until they took the time (post-release) to fix all the issues, like they *always* do.
I hate to say it because I love the competition for the low-tier cards… but I get the feeling that by end of January the B570 is going to be completely toast from a value perspective - and maybe even a DOA prospect at launch.
If those prices are pre VAT, then In the EU the B580 will probably cost 300-320€ for months. Some rx 7600 models get almost weekly discounts down to 230€ incl. VAT. Even with perfectly working drivers, the value wont be there at 300€+. And also the 7600xt hasn't really seen any price cuts in the EU yet, so AMD might have room to play with.
Same. I would love to use DLSS though, ngl. But I will absolutely not both pay a high price, while having not enough Vram with Nvidia cards. I won't buy any card with higher than 6700xt performance with less than 16gb of Vram. I am already using 12gb and sometimes need even more. Frame gen and rt can use tons of Vram, especially in combination with high res textures.
Finally memory overclocking on arc. The a770 was managing to get nearly +15% perf with locked memory clocks with an OC, imagine it with a memory overclock too
I can imagine that it might reach the memory bandwidth of the A580 with a decent memory overclock. Howerver, I do not find that as much reason for celebration.
@AndreiNeacsu I do. Intel put out an overclocking slide where with the new unlocked voltage limits and higher power limits they were achieving 350mhz higher clocks so with a memory overclock too we should be getting a 12gb 3070ti effectively
@@AndreiNeacsu They have already pushed the GDDR6 to low GDDR6X speed of 19Gbs (Usually gddr6 tops out around 16Gbs) That does not leave much(or any) headroom on that bus signalling protocol. These prices look really good for the amount of Vram and performance. New gpu architectures that are not completely cut down in this price class are not existing anymore. Go Intel!

A video card that will play old games (pre-2018) at over 100 fps @ ultra settings @ 1440p ... is really all I want. I'm not paying $75 per title plus season passes for games.
@@chy.0190it's possible that battlemage will play old games just fine, alchemist lacks some parts of the GPU that older games use and those had to be emulated in the driver on a per-game basis manually by Intel, battlemage is supposed to fix that on an architectural level, so there will be no need for intel to make driver fixes for every single old game. It's what intel said, but of course we just need someone to confirm it with extensive tests.
According to Intel's own claims the B580 is around 5% slower than RX 6700 XT 12GB. It will probably be even slower in independent reviews. But the 6700 XT has been around $270 for half a year now. So if someone wanted that level of performance for that money they could have had it a long time ago and didn't have to wait for Intel.
The only reason I have an A750 is Intel was able to put GPUs on the market at MSRP a couple years ago, must be nice to live somewhere you could get a 6700 XT, closest I see is the 6750 XT at about twice that price.
Finally a bit of pressure on the entry level, why get an 8GB 4060 when you can get a slightly more powerful card that also has 12GB RAM for less? I expect them to just drop prices by $50 when next gen nvidia/AMD release.
Why get this Intel gpu when 6700xt exists, and has been at similar price for over half a year? This is nothing great tbh. And with AMD releasing new GPUs next month, Intels ones are DOA.
From a Computer Store and A580 owner: I have an Arc A580 and the drivers are not at the point where I can recommend it to the masses. I bought it to support Intel and it plays PUBG competitively when compared to the then-priced rx 6600. Arc A580 was $20 less. For my clients, I cannot recommend Arc until they fix their drivers. They have improved A TON but not at the point yet I can recommend them. I am currently building mostly AMD Radeon based gaming computers and a few Nvidia. In terms of B580 pricing, for people who just want to game and not worry about the drivers, I see them spending an extra $50-$80 for the 7600 XT 16 GB. I believe the B580 needs to be at $200 for people who are cautious about Intel Arc to buy them. That's not to say I wouldn't myself, but I am okay dealing with their driver problems. That puts me in the minority. Nevertheless, if you're considering Intel and don't mind, please give them money to keep the executives happy and ARC around. I do want them to be competitive but the B580 pricing is high and I have a gut feeling reviews are going to say the same thing after they test them themselves and it'll be for a niece market for people like me.
@@chy.0190 Did you read what I said in front of that or do you have a selective reading? With your reply I am sure you agree with the $200 pricetag that it should be at :)
Given LNL's IGPU has had pretty solid drivers from launch I don't anticipate Battlemage dGPUs to be a repeat of the Alchemist situation. The A-series also just made a lot of bizarre architectural choices that made writing good drivers incredibly difficult, the hardware was just kind of fundamentally broken
If the B570 is equally to 4060 and thr B580 surpassed it (but not Ti level), it should be fair for the price it offers. Hopefully it'll be stable and good enough for 1080p casual gaming.
I know I may be in a very small minority, but I am very excited to see if architectural efficiency improvements will make for a future B380 that can be cooled with a single slot cooler. Would much prefer it to the current single slot A310.
Im one of the ones who was hoping the b580 was closer to the 4060ti but im not really disappointed. It is still shaping up to be a great budget option. Now, let's hope day one reviews are bright. We need this in the pc market.
Keep in mind due to having 12gb of Vram and the better 192 bit bus and higher memory bandwidth relative to the criminal 8gb of vram and 128 bit bus on the 4060ti, that it will in fact age better than it, and be better at 1440p anytime vram starts becoming an issue (and it's a serious issue for 8gb cards at 1440p). So even if on paper it's "Weaker" than the 4060ti by say ~10%, having 50% higher vram while also having drastically better pricing ($400 msrp vs just $250msrp), makes it an infinitely better choice than (the admittedly horrific) 4060ti.
@@slickrounder6045 you could have got a 12gb 6700 xt for 270 for over 6 months now, which is slightly better than this Intel gpu. Just like last gen, Intel has fucked up with their launch prices (something they have in common with AMD eh).

Don't confuse flash sales to get rid of the last bit of stock though with the reality that for years it was in the mid 300 price range, and launched at $479 msrp, which is almost double that of the $249 b580.
7600XT performance for $250 is not that good, it's what is expected of AMD for its next gen at minimum. They should undercut AMD but they are matching AMD. I don't know how possible it is, but at $199, B580 would be THE default choice and they missed it.

Lol. When the RX 580 launched, GCN was well into it's 4th generation and drivers had been fine all along. The issues with Intel drivers are another magnitude.
First and foremost the thing that will determine the success of these cards will be driver compatibility and stability. No sensible amount of discount can offset that. I sure hope they made big improvements because we do desperately need some competition.
Stop with driver bashing intels worked o them some gains gain up to 150% in drivers updates ffs. DX12 games & graphic cards should not even be relant on srivers it wasn't ever suppose to be like this.
Here's hoping the cards actually function on a platform lacking resizable bar. A lot of otherwise usable systems were flat out ignored by the A series being completely broken without the feature, and erased them from consideration.
You can mod your BIOS for support, it's an involved process but it works. I wouldn't have said it was "completely broken" before I did it, though. Some games were much more affected than others.
@@ZeroHourProductions407 Me too. I downloaded someone else's modded BIOS from the Level1Techs' forum. Worked great for me, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone else. There's already several things not working on my mobo which I'm sure is the case for many who have been using the same hardware for close to a decade.
Expectations set, we need RTX 3070+ performance levels, ideally approaching 3070 Ti, combined with £250 price tag and 12vRAM this would be the go-to card, as long as the drivers are acceptable. Good luck Intel!
Any competition at this point is not only welcomed but sorely needed. ddr6 should not be an excuse for AMD and NVIDIA to jack up prices to absurd levels the moment they add a few more ram to a two to three year old architecture.

At $249, I'm almost tempted to get one to upgrade one of the systems in my house running an A750. Well, that and in the hopes of keeping the Arc dGPU program from getting the same treatment Gelsinger got. I am curious about the performance comparison over the 4060. My A770 already performs better than the 4060 I tested in the same system, at least with synthetic benchmarks and performance in Helldivers 2.
@Colert915 Same here. Only two things worry me about Battlemage at this point. The first is that I am praying that Geekbench B580 leak was a test unit and the release version performs significantly better when results come out on the 13th. The second is the rumors that the B7xx series may be axed altogether due to delays in the design process.
I hope these do well, Intel needs some good news, plus it's just good to have more GPU contenders in the market, also Intel need to release a Performance Core only CPU & stop with the Efficiency cores, keep that for mobile devices.
I like that Intel showed how things like GI and volumetrics effect frame times. This was no mistake. If you look at any 24.x.x driver update you'll see that this was a direct shot at Radeon. Also looking at techpowerup performance reviews for recent releases will also show how these are crippling frame times on Radeon compared to how they in past generation only games again nvidia counterparts. Games like Silent Hill 2, Veilgaurd, BMW, GoWR, SW Outlaws and Stalker 2 have cards like the 2080 ti and 3070 getting between 6800 & GRE performance.
It's not just drivers that are a problem, those were just what people most immediately experienced when Intel launched those completely half-baked, outright scamming any early buyers out of their money. Alchemist cores are simply flawed in design, and waste power because no matter what you do, it's hard or outright impossible to make they operate optimally. It's a classic example of design that did not get utilization optimizations it sorely needed.

I don’t understand the point of bringing up Ray tracing at all unless you’re in the 70 or 80 class card and even then I wouldn’t even touch it without an 80 to 90 class card
Intel is much larger than amd so there's hoping they can actually compete on the software front, maybe even partnering with amd to break the driver monopoly would make sense.
B580 being faster 5-15% than A770 doesn't even make it faster than 3060TI, yikes, so being on average on 70fps compared to 67 of 7600XT then it trully is 7600XT 12gb for $20 cheaper
well if you slightly adjust the numbers against it at every point it doesn't sound that great sure. It's faster than a 7600XT and they sell for around $300 not $270 like you're saying. So really its better than 7600XT performance, it does have less VRAM but its $50 cheaper
At a performance on par or a bit slower than the RTX 4060 (assuming my performance extrapolation is correct), $219 with good RT performance and good raster performance is not THAT bad. Intel is certainly improving but I agree, it should've been priced a bit lower.
Some people are already hating this release but with an honest look its a great launch, of course its not the best GPUs for these prices but we need more competition, at least people will have 3 options to buy instead of 2, it also forces the others to reduce the price if these new B series sells great. The first generation is always a test but now its getting better and I hope it goes well for them to release the B780 or other "high end" cards, for gaming it will be a good price, we need more competition below 600$, most gamers doesn't care about beating NVIDIA, they are just looking for decent gaming performance for cheaper prices because most doesn't have 2k $$ to spend on a GPU just for games, also other countries with worse economies can benefit the most with these competitive prices.
Considering the rumors about Intel having canceled further dedicated GPU development, one has to wonder how much effort they will invest in driver support for what might be their last product generation of that kind

Seems like decent competition. I imagine lower/midrange competing RDNA 4 will beat it handedly, but Nvidia will probably be trash due to pricing again.
All very interesting…but what about hardware transcoding, particularly AV1. The A series had OK hardware transcoding and so we will see further improvements. We don’t all use GPUs to play games….😅
If the performance uplift they claim is true... and if they can do it again with next gen... and if the performance is also better in old games.. and if the drivers are a lot better.. and if they can the ability to produce enough gpus.. and if they have the profit margins to maintain the RND.. and if they can get next gen out quickly enough.. they have a chance to compete in the high end(not enthusiast) perhaps a new ceo will have a plan to push gpu division. I have my doubts in it overall.
Its already a hard "no" at "if they can do it again next gen", there wont be a gaming next gen for quite a while if Intel even survives that is. This release is basically trying to recoup R&D costs as they defund their GPU department.
a lot of ifs, let's hope so, but still according to leaks, B770 seems to have severe problems and might come in the future, but at this point it's too problematic to release and i do wonder if they will have any profits on this one, alchemist was sold just to lower production losses, since any gpu on par with A770 specs would be sold with $600-$700 price tag also i wonder how XeSS 2 is going to fare since it's arc only, at this point AMD has problems to get good implementations of FSR which is for all, DLSS gets all the attention since Nvidia is dominating the market, so by logic XeSS should be adopted on same level as AMD Anti-Lag 2 is adopted (3 games after half a year) also i wonder if they will continue with GPUs since at this point it seems higher ups are more interested in using Xe cores in APUs, there are a lot of doubts that Celestial will even be released

Depend what you're upgrading from. Waiting comes a point it becomes pointless, because new tech is always around the corner. So you buy whenever you need something.
I think another think to consider is if intel still even wants to continue developing their gpu cards...esp since they need to do price leadership as they're likely going to be lower performing compared to next gen probably. If it doesn't earn them much i can definitely see them axing the gp line completely.
The software looks neat. Performance is underwhelming for 250$. I can get a used 6700 XT for 230€ or a 3070 for 280€ in Germany. Would have been nice if it did match the 4060Ti performance..
If it doesn't outperform an rtx 4060 across the board, I'd say it's dead on arrival. Even with all their greed, Nvidia tend to jump 1 tier of performance each gen, while increasing price according to inflation. This would mean RTX 4070 performance and memory for about 315 dollars is a reasonable prediction for the 5060. If people often are willing to pay 10% more for the same performance when it comes to Nvidia vs AMD, won't they pay a greater difference when it comes to Intel vs AMD and Nvidia, two brands that are established as GPU makers? That being said, I'd totally get one if they had native analog output.
Yeah and 6700 XT has been around $270 for half a year now. And according to Intel's own claims the B580 is around 5% slower than RX 6700 XT 12GB. So Intel is to little to late.
Meh. Only 10% faster than a 4060 which you can get for 270$ or even cheaper easily. Don't get me wrong the 4060 is fkin shit but this is not very exciting. I truly expected the B580 to be a 4060ti competitor for 250$ but with this performance 200$ would be the maximum i'd pay. Yeah 12Gb of VRAM but that's more on AMD and Nvidia being shit in that regard for many years and nvidia and AMD are also releasing GPUs in one month time
With regard to a narrower memory bus, there's also an advantage in terms of die area - off-chip bus logic doesn't shrink with newer process nodes, and every square millimetre of silicon is only becoming more expensive as process offerings improve.
The $219 price is unfortunate, considering the a750 is at $189 already. And the B580 is "25% better than the A750", and also 25% more expensive. Yay. Looking forward to the testing, and the inevitable price cuts. It all really depends on that, and driver reliability.
Don't forget the fact that they have HIGHER VRAM though.. That alone makes it worth it, and keep in mind the prices you listed for alchemist are based on their absolute lowest sales point. Undoubtedly one will be able to get sales in the coming months of the b580 and the b570 that have them closer to ~$220-230 and ~$200 respectively, making them even more attractive for people on a budget.

@@JomeFromWork how are they disrupting competition? The 6700xt is a 12gb card that has been at 270 for over 6 months, and is 5% faster than this Intel GPU lmao. Intel fucked up with the pricing last gen too, people bought AMD equivalents instead as there was not much of a price difference.
the real competition. on raster, RT and software. really shows you how much AMD has been lagging behind. Intel did this in 2 gens.
At the same time, in this comment section, i saw some people saying it was underwhelming from intel...
Yeah but kind of irrelevant when the GPUs are too weak for RT, unless you are happy with 30 fps or less.
@@ct2651 purely from a technology perspective it's a little more efficient 6700 XT, an almost 4 year old card, which I can see why that would be a little disappointing to some. But the price is good and that level of performance is still very decent. I can see $500-600 gaming pc's with ps5 level performance in the near future
@@stephenallen4635 i hope the pc market can achieve ps5 performance after 5 years at the same price... consoles are supposed to get outclassed after some years.
I wonder about the idle power usage.
Almost 4060 Ti performance, with 12gb, for US$249. Basically 4060 Ti 8gb or 6700XT.
Not bad. In fact,nice.
The 570 10gb at $219 looks good too. It doesn't hit the $200 nominal barrier but will monster the 6600 for $20 more.
I'll be honest, it isn't what I need, but it's a great addition to the market at that price point.
I dunno that even B770 will hit my targets but I wish Intel well
I wish Intel made something that screws over Nvidia and AMD all together but in this climate that ain't happening anytime soon. I also hate how AI has dominated everything to a negative...
Everyone thinking the same thing.
B580 available Dec 13th!
Stable driver available... when? 😆
Seems like decent competition. I imagine lower/midrange competing RDNA 4 will beat it handedly, but Nvidia will probably be trash due to pricing again.
Why include Ray tracing cores on a 200 dollar card?
less FOMO though in practice I'd guess most people will just turn it off after trying it
That same hardware can be used to AI!
That is the main usage to these low end GPUs!
@@haukikannel RT cores aren't used for AI
@
Ofcourse they can be used for AI… They offer calculation power. AI is calculation…
@@haukikannel no, they offer HW accelerated intersection testing and BVH traversal
This release is basically trying to recoup R&D costs as they defund their GPU department.
a lot of ifs, let's hope so, but still according to leaks, B770 seems to have severe problems and might come in the future, but at this point it's too problematic to release
and i do wonder if they will have any profits on this one, alchemist was sold just to lower production losses, since any gpu on par with A770 specs would be sold with $600-$700 price tag
also i wonder how XeSS 2 is going to fare since it's arc only, at this point AMD has problems to get good implementations of FSR which is for all, DLSS gets all the attention since Nvidia is dominating the market, so by logic XeSS should be adopted on same level as AMD Anti-Lag 2 is adopted (3 games after half a year)
also i wonder if they will continue with GPUs since at this point it seems higher ups are more interested in using Xe cores in APUs, there are a lot of doubts that Celestial will even be released
I was excited until I saw it launches on Friday the 13th
NGL, 24% is a bit underwhelming, considering these are most likely cherry picked results. I was hoping for a 30% minimum. This better not cost any higher than 250 usd. And i don't mean "msrp". I mean actual retail price.
Taking into consideration that 24% faster than a last gen higher tier product, is not that bad tbf.
@@mark.082 No it's not terrible or bad. Just underwhelming imo.
@@davidepannone6021underwhelming even for only a second try... im pretty sure that for a secknd try, its actually quite good... we should cheer this result if its true, unless we really want no 3rd company to try making gpu
The SIMD16 change in Battlemage was supposed to help with compatibility also... ?
Yay it’s Tim
He's just an AI.
I really hope they come out swinging with battlemage. Lord knows we need competition in the lower performance tiers
Gonna buy RTX 4070S because I cant be arsed to wait. U guys think I am making a mistake? Its the same price as RX 7900 GRE in my region
I bought one 3 days ago :D no regrets :D in the worst case you can always sell it if you want to :)
Enjoy it, it's a great GPU from what I've seen. DLSS especially makes it worthwhile. I'm tempted to get one myself, or a 4070 Ti S.
I bought 7900gre. ❤
Depend what you're upgrading from. Waiting comes a point it becomes pointless, because new tech is always around the corner. So you buy whenever you need something.
NVIDIA will announce new cards during CES. At this point there's nothing wrong in waiting another few weeks to see what's around the corner.
How about higher end cards? Will there be 7xx class cards?
I think another think to consider is if intel still even wants to continue developing their gpu cards...esp since they need to do price leadership as they're likely going to be lower performing compared to next gen probably. If it doesn't earn them much i can definitely see them axing the gp line completely.
Sadly, thats what i have hear months ago...
anyone knows if Battlemage supports hardware VP9 encoding?
It does.
The software looks neat. Performance is underwhelming for 250$. I can get a used 6700 XT for 230€ or a 3070 for 280€ in Germany. Would have been nice if it did match the 4060Ti performance..
well, used vs new...
@@NineS5he will have less issues with the used ones though, looking at the fiasco that was the last intel gpu launch.
It's just a 6700xt for 250€ 😂
US prices are without vat. It should costs around 280€ in Europe. Next year, when AMD releases the 8600xt, the 7600xt will probably move to 250€.
@@Psi-Storm Will be 299€ on shelves, Just watch.
Yeah and 6700 XT has been around $270 for half a year now. And according to Intel's own claims the B580 is around 5% slower than RX 6700 XT 12GB. So Intel is to little to late.
With better Ray Tracing and power efficiency..
@@Psi-StormI'd say more like 200€
Crazy how they got rid of their CEO immediately before this
Of course, why would anyone launch a new generation better than the old one for less money?
Don't forget the fact that they have HIGHER VRAM though.. That alone makes it worth it, and keep in mind the prices you listed for alchemist are based on their absolute lowest sales point. Undoubtedly one will be able to get sales in the coming months of the b580 and the b570 that have them closer to ~$220-230 and ~$200 respectively, making them even more attractive for people on a budget.
It's all going to come down to the drivers, lots of potential here, 12gb and useable RT performance on a card costing 250? Lets hope it works out.
Sheesh 1 view in 13secs, they fell of
Long live for Intel .My overall respect to them is endless. And big thanks to Pat. I wish him luck and great new projects.
I hope amd won't drop the ball on entry to mid range pricing this time with intel competition.
Pro the price will be that.
Con. The graph for performance over the 4060 is in frames per dollar. Not FPS. Not bad though.
I am very excied to see what happens in this space. I am very much looking forward to the low end of the Battlemage line up as well. My girlfriend needs a light gaming PC and i would love to see a B310 or B360 with nice power.
Not good at all, the B580 should release at $200 if Intel wants to stay relevant next year
At this point there will be no Celestial in the future
I already have an A770 and I'm very happy with it so I probably won't upgrade. Definitely seems like this could be worth it for many others though, and I would definitely recommend going with Arc. This card has been amazing for only ~$300
12GB, faster than RTX 4060, decent driver support. I think that moves us closer to proper competitive pricing and features on the low end. This is a W for low end gamers.
If nothing else, these are the ultimate Jellyfin cards. Better quality video encoding and decoding than any other card.
