For the longest time before I’d played the games and just saw pictures and some videos of their appearances in the anime, I thought Komaeda and Enoshima were siblings, since they both have a similar hair color. Both also take their ideologies to the extreme too.
People have complained about the English voice, but honestly I love it. I love villains who can hide their true nature under a perky, happy, adorable exterior. No one would ever suspect the valley girl supermodel!

That's exactly why she was created! THH was made to subvert expectations character-wise. Junko being the crazy mastermind is just another part of that. The dub had to show that on the surface she was a cliché dumb fashionista so her accent makes sense. That voice is the one we give to this stereotype. Yeah it's different in Japan but the point of a dub is to translate and adapt the work for a different audience with a different culture.

i feel like no one actually sees how powerful junko enoshima is, i mean, she started an apocalypse because she was bored.. she also kidnapped most of the ultimates and made them kill eachother, literal prodigy teenagers. and she even murdered her own sister with no mercy. i feel like people see her as this very loud, bubbly, and crazy teenager who is obsessed with despair and never see her true self, a literal genius mastermind.

I’m not gonna lie, when I was a kid I was going through a VERY rough and traumatic time. But when I bumped into Danganronpa, and soon Junko and Despairism, as an easily influenceable kid who needed something to cling on, I was easily hooked on the idea of learning to appreciate and even admire despair and its “qualities”. Seeing Junko so enthusiastic even when faced with her own death really left an impression on me, she accepted it without hesitation. Trying to cope with my experience and trying to achieve that kind of mindset, for a few years, Despairism was ironically my hope, and I genuinely saw Junko Enoshima as my “savior”. It’s been around 10 years since then, and while that was a dark part in my life, I can’t deny that it’s actually helped me in some ways too. A lot of people thought I was optimistic, little did they know...
Nah. She lacks of what a good villain needs, such as being menacing by appearance and personality. She doesn't make me feel the way Muzan Kibutsuji or Shigaraki does. Her voice isn't menacing as Muzan, since it sounds very loud, sweet and crazy and is about screaming, and her appearance is ridiculous compared to Shigaraki's. Besides, her behavior is so childish and capricious that you can't take her very seriously and she's too incompetent because she does nothing that just wanting to do chaos (and Mukuro literally does all the job for her while Junko just watch). She's nothing more than an annoyance by just talking a lot of crap and acting like a little girl who wants a piece of cake. Also, she lacks of what other better psycho girls, such as Yuno Gasai, Rena Ryuguu from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni or Kurumi Tokisaki, have. She is not menacing, rather she causes anxiety to others. Her appearance is not very fearsome and her voice is very sweet, she has a quite crazy personality that consists about screaming and acting like a child in which causes the anxiety of others with the "games" she proposes, the typical one is to kill everyone without being discovered to escape, such as in the Animation version. These actions or decisions that she makes cause anxiety in others to start killing each other or simply commit suicide. In the end when it is discovered that she is the one who controls everything, I can deduce that those who remained felt a desperation for her and were not afraid. So, in conclusion, Junko Enoshima doesn't have the menace that other anime villains have and instead is just an edgelord. Besides, her motives are nonsensical since she wanted to bring despair to the world just because she bored which is an invalid justification.

I don't understand why many people criticize her as a “bad character" just because she doesn't have a tragic backstory and they say that her motives “don't make sense" (which is completely false). Her motive isn't actually unknown. Her alternate title is the Ultimate Analyst. She is able to gather data, analyze it, and understand it or predict what's most likely to happen. It's kind of like statistical fortune telling. Because of this, she grew bored at knowing what will happen, and later realized that humanity becomes unpredictable when they're in a state of despair. She craved that unpredictability because she can't see it coming, so she'll never be bored.

Not only that, she investigated Hope's Peak, saw the situation that they had, and used information that she found on the campus (Izuru Kamakura) to manipulate the reserve course into rioting by making them see what the school was up to. She found the ingredients she needed and proceeded to create a big steaming pot of chaos and despair.

They also use the cheap argument of “she's underrated" to qualify as a bad character

Aside from the whole "let's destroy the world" bit, I identify with Junko to an unhealthy degree. Ask yourself, how would you feel if your every waking moment, you were surrounded by particularly dim-witted 5 year olds. You'd be bored out of your mind! That's her. She's still a bad person, not arguing that, but she suffers the curse of a gifted mind. Everyone else has no hope of keeping up.

If I'm honest,the Despair Arc is probably the only time Junko was ever interesting. Like in the games she just appears right at the end to make bad quips and give exposition on everything she's done,while in the Despair Arc we actually see her doing all these deeds. If I'm honest,the Despair Arc is probably the only time Junko was ever interesting. Like in the games she just appears right at the end to make bad quips and give exposition on everything she's done,while in the Despair Arc we actually see her doing all these deeds. I find you can hate an antagonist for their actions more when seeing rather than hearing
