Love this!! With my 401k/Roth/HSA/brokerage accounts I personally only invest in index funds that track the total stock market, the S&P500, an international fund, and large and small cap companies. I make sure that the index funds I invest in have very low expense ratios so my growth isn't hindered by fees :) good luck on your investing journey!!

@@putDIZONyourface invest into your 401k up until your company's match (usually 4-6%) because that's instant 100% return on your investment, and the rest put it in a ROTH IRA for the tax advantages. roth ira though have income limits and you can only invest up to $6000/year. The benefit of a roth ira is that you invest post-tax income which will therefore grow tax free and once you hit 59.5 years old you can take out the money tax free. this is a great benefit because taxes will only go up in the future, and as you invest and make more money, you will be in a higher tax bracket, so investing in a roth ira will help you save as much money possible. UNLESS your company 401k is actually a roth 401k.

Congratulations, Aja! I'm so excited for you. It's scary at first, but the more you learn, the more confident you'll become. I've been investing for 16 years now and have built up a seven-figure portfolio. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I love seeing other women invest. It's so important, especially since women are more likely to outlive men, so we need to learn to accumulate and preserve wealth ourselves.

Congratulations! Really appreciated you expressing the sentiment of lack of excitement, I feel the same way! I’ve been investing for years but really started ramping it up recently, and need to resist the urge to check obsessively or tinker, or wishing next payday will come so I can invest some more! The latter is probably the scariest because it’s easy to forget to enjoy the journey as well as the destination (actually a similar topic to your interview on the Financial Confessions podcast, was psyched to see you pop up there!)

Aja, thank u for this video. That's really all it is, click to invest and then twiddle ur thumbs for forever! Lol
But, have you looked into self-directed IRAs, so you can grow it faster? It'll give u the opportunity to use ur retirement money to invest in other things that is not in the market or portfolios. For example, my husband and I used our IRAs to invest into hard money loans, interest is significant and investment is secured. The interest we receive per month from doing self directed vs leaving in the portfolios is significant. Maybe something else for u to look into on your investing journey

The first time I invested it was so scary for me but also exciting. I have to admit I checked the app about 100k times a day but I have tapered that down to 1x a month or so. I also started off with ETFs and have started incorporating individual stocks as I've felt more comfortable.

Just have to keep adding to your portfolio, think of it as a high yield savings account that grows 7-10% (on average) a year, and sit back and watch the portfolio compound over the next 30 years+ of your life. It goes up and down all year long, you'll drive yourself crazy if you watch it everyday. Set it and forget it.

Def remember when I first invested online a few months ago. Tbh I was terrified and it took some teeth pulling and joint research from my bf to actually pull the trigger and I'm so glad I did. I decided to go with a more conservative stock for my own mental health and even that has been slowly creeping upward. I do always have to keep in mind that the market goes up and down but over the long-term I think it'll be a great tool to help build wealth. 🙌🏽
