Holy crap. I've been a maintenance technician for 10 years. I'm 2 minutes in and you flipping through the instructions, seeing how they're laid out, thats attention to detail! Super accurate representation of good tech manuals.
The main misconception Drae had, was that the CO2=>O2 was an “oxygen creation machine” when in reality it was Carbon Dioxide to Oxygen CONVERTER machine. Aka for it to work you need to put the tank full of CO2 into the left slot
i cant lie though every time he put another part into the machine i thought it was the last. so i would not have made the CO2 mistake sure, but it still wouldnt have worked for me because of the parts xD
This reminds me somewhat of "Keep talking and nobody explodes". Also, around 7:11 the Oxygen tank clipped through the wall and went outside. If you pause just before the tank disappears and go frame by frame (comma and period on the keyboard when the video is paused) you can see the tank outside the window for exactly 1 frame.
Ah, yes I left a comment before reading this one. I also went frame by frame and noticed the Oxygen tank go out the escape pod lol... that is horrible and a bug for sure they need to fix... overall fun game
This is a fantastic game! Little tips: In a pinch you can open a gas bottle (I believe F while you're looking at it). This will rapidly add oxygen, but will overpressurise your pod and if you drop it, it'll fly around and you'll have trouble grabbing it again. Holding on to handles in an asteroid field is pretty much required. The O2 generator needs CO2 to create oxygen. This also means that there is only a finite amount of gas in the pod, which you can lose through leaks or opening the door!
@@tylern6420 You can open _all_ bottles. This includes CO2 and nitrogen. You'll never want to open the CO2, but there may be rare cases where you want to open the nitrogen. Typically this is if a singularity event drops pressure faster than the pressure regulator can keep up. This can also be useful if the pressure regulator is straight up broken. As I mentioned before, you can open the door to relieve excess pressure in an emergency, but this will decrease the amount of oxygen you have available in that run. The temperature control unit also has a bottle of liquid nitrogen. Opening this is a bad idea, but it can rapidly drop the temperature in exchange for a MASSIVE pressure increase.
Okay lotta tips from people but after getting this (because of your video) I learned that if you can get the Main Computer working the displays will tell you what's wrong in English not error code. To try and be as helpful as possible: The main computer needs a crt, on-off, two computer processors (looks like RAM), a power transformer, a fuse, a power connector, a data connector, and if you want the warning buttons. Typically there is at least one processor on board in the drawers, 2-3 CRT's, and 1-2 Fuses, the rest can be there but isn't always guaranteed. Also electrical storm means shut down electronics. :)
As long as it isn’t teleporting or you don’t grab the handles. Tried it once and grabbing handles and moving yourself with them is horribly nauseating.
@@arandomcommenter412 Hey! We're still working on VR mode for a full CLEAN release out of alpha in the next few months ;) as we are aware it's not as good as it should be just yet!
@@tincanstudio9267 Amazing, as long as it’s movement is simple, teleporting would actually be fine, but as somebody who tried the oculus quest 2 ISS exploration “game” where you had to grab handles to move, it was nauseating enough to make me not want to try it ever again within minutes.
For your information Drae, the creaking is metal under stress, it is like when you see a machine slowly bendinrg metal, the screeches and creaking noises is the sound of the metal understress, and with enough stress, it can give way and possible snap or something.
15:24 - 15:49 You had 25 sec to turn pressure pump off, at least I think that's what it wanted. That is definitely a need to know what to do ahead of time item.
Better than apple where if the pod broke you'd have to hope you ran into the apple ship before whatever broke kills you cause only certified Apple techs can work on it.
If you're gonna get a friend to help you in this game (the manual thing), PLEASE do it with scrapman. I know you 2 are classic buds and he is currently doing a MARS community build series and I think this kind of game would PERFECTLY tie in with that so it would work out great for BOTH of you. ^u^ Also, I hope that session will be in VR if it happens.
Also I really really wish more space survival games had more components like this that you had to monitor. Not so much as the point of the game as it is here but something you need to pay attention to.
This feels like that 60 Seconds or 60 Parsecs game, especially having to pick up as many items as possible at the beginning before everything blows up, except everything is in real time, but at least food and water isn't a thing.
I'd think it would be easier honestly. only problem could be if you need to take everything out to fit something in the back of a box where the normal mode it just pops in like magic
This almost like the game I've been imagining developing. Except mine would be in a larger ship where you're crew is dead and you have to try to get back to civilization and you could salvage ship wrecks and derelict space stations.
i've actually been learning to program in part so i can make something like this, the main difference being that the entire game is played in the captains seat and the cannon lore is that you jury rigged the ship to be run from the captains seat because you have no friends
Hey Drae, I just want to tell you that I love you. You make me laugh in every video you upload and help me get a smile back after a rough day at work. Keep doing what you do. Take care. Sincerly, Jimmy
This game looks pretty cool. Reminds me a bit of Space Engineers. Especially if you start out with a torch and a grinder in space and have to pirate an npc ship/station before energy or air runs out.
@@xposed1168 that depends on how creative you are I suppose. But you can setup a scenario where you are stranded in space, and all you got is your basic tools and you have to come up with a strategy to get the resources you need in the little time you have left. This is pretty cool, definitely would be a fun game to play with someone reading the manual like one of those co-op puzzle games, though for me personally, I think I would've liked it more if it was like, a deep sea submersible or something instead of an escape pod, just because I feel like the deep sea can be a lot more wonderous and interesting rather than an empty vacuum, but that's just me.
play it in VR!! i think it would of been pretty cool to add a little bit of RPG elements in to the game as in we have the ability to repair most components but have a limited supply of spare parts, etc.
Been awhile sense I've seen this played by a TH-camr. Pretty neat gimmick to the game. Didn't know they added a 60 seconds mechanic to the intro, cool.
Here's your "as _ as possible" counter for the day. (still watching, will update) Also, yes, do this in VR plz. 0:35 as long as you possibly can only once, but he did turn it off & on again like a good tech support. Also, I dislike that nothing happens before death screen :/ "pod exploded" no, it just went to the end screen with no warning.
When I saw this, the first thing I thought of was a pretty decent B-movie from the 90's/early 00's called Lifepod. It was a who-dun-it set on a lifepod from a space cruise vessel that was sabotaged.
A reactor going “critical” is a misconception a lot of people have. In reality, a reactor going “critical” is a normal occurrence. It just means that the reactor has reached a point of self sufficiency in splitting atoms, making power. Now a reactor going prompt critical would be a bad thing, power would be out of control at that point and a meltdown would be inevitable.
Eh, I think a reactor reaching self-sufficiency is considered it going "Nominal". Critical means it's begun a runaway feedback loop in which the reaction is heating the system faster than it can be cooled, thus building up more heat, thus speeding up the reaction, thus making more heat, etc.
An escape pod should be required to be fully stocked with everything it needs, ready to go, batteries everywhere, extra of everything, in good condition & repair & all that so you can literally just go "Emergency?! *POOF I'M OUT SUCKA!" and not have to worry about anything. No rushing to get basic crap you need lmao (obviously it wouldn't be a very fun game otherwise tho :D )

it was painful to watch him struggle with reading xD
To be fair I only realized that when I read what stood on the door after 3minutes
Not to mention the black hole event did give him time to prepare xd

How is there not a detection for that? Seems like an easy bug to check for. Out of bounds objects should just return to storage.
Yea I had a fuse decided to permanently no-clip in the middle of the pod once, it was something else.
How the heck did you see that

But what about nitrogen (aka the gas that keeps the oxygen in the safe concentrations )
@@tylern6420 I think the Nitrogen (temperature control) is what adds that.
