- Repair the shutter in Yashica-44 f=60mm 1:3.5. There was some issues in this camera, the self-timer was not working because one had press way too hard on the self-timer advance arm, and one small hair spring has come off the shutter advance arm so it could not return by itself.
The slow gear need some good cleaning and lubrication in lighter fluid, and i did the same with the self-timer, so now it work's proper as it should :-).
my yashica rapide seems to have similar problems. I‘ll try to fix it with the help of this video once i‘m ready, thank you!:)
This video just saved me so much money. I purchased a nice Yashica Mat 124 yesterday in good condition for 200 dollars, but lo and behold, the shutter wouldn't fire. I found it was due to a stuck self timer and that flat pin you mention (around the 20-25 min mark in your video) was the culprit. Moved it out of the way with some pliers, and reassembled. Work's like a charm. I still have some issues with the shutter button not firing the shutter all the way correctly time to time, but that's a later fix. I am very satisfied and immensely thankful to you.

Yes, my first TLR..but the meter does not work properly..the battery is ok, the red arrow reacts somehow but the yellow one not at all..a pity..greets
Mikeno, your videos are very helpful. I'm having issues with the part that fires the shutter, just to the left of where your slow great sits in this video. Do you have any videos that show how this piece works?
What would be the possible cause of the shutter only opening in slower shutter speeds? Mine seems to open fine unless it’s the shutter speed is at 250 or 500 then it won’t open.
I have a Yashica D in very nice condition but it has a slow shutter @ >1/2 second. I'm guessing this camera is very similar. Have you had any experience with the model D and if so, would this video give a pretty good detail as to the procedure for the model D? Any help would be appreciated. :)
Mike I recently got a yashica a that behaves exactly like that, doesn't fire. Thing is am scared of opening it up lest I damage it

Great video! have you done the Mamiya C330? On that one my shutter is ok but the shutter button on the body is jammed.
Thank's Lavikka, yes I have work with the Mamiya C330 and it's a problem with the more poor material they have use, compare with the older camera body's (C33, C3, they was better made).
You need to take the botton plate off to get into the shutter button, the way they have made this construction is not that good because of poor material. maybe you also need to take off the winder side plate, sometimes part's there are also not good.

Just a question: How about the shutter blades fail to form light tight closure. What might cause this issue?
I have a German TLR (weltaflex with vebur shutter), everything looks and works good mechanically but I noticed I can see a very little amount of light passing through the blades. I don't know whether it's worth (and possible) to fix it. :-/

I use lighter fluid to clean the slow gear and the self-timer, I then lube the axle end's only with very thin clockwork oil.
I have just aquired a Yashica 635 and all shutter speeds sound the same exept for B. Will this method work for this model too?
In many cases It would be the solution, but of course, there could also be some other issues.

Hello, I need help please!! All the shutter speeds are ok except 15 and 30, they are around 1/2 second. But the other slow speeds are ok

So is the self timer another slow gear then? I am seeing some common items from your videos. I’m also getting confidence that I shouldn’t have.
There are 2 Gear's, the one is the slow gear and the other is the self-timer
