I like the 24 over the 32 for the fact that it has 12 mono inputs. At one time they sold both for the same price. I took the 24 over the 32 hands down.

I record music in a band called Neutral Earth (Neutral Earth-full album) available on TH-cam. I record with my band mate who resides in a different state; we both have tascam DP32s and create music by exchanging SD cards. My question is- if I record music to a DP32 would the SD card play & record on a DP24 (or visa versa). I have a tascam model 24 and it’s SD card will not play in my DP32. Obviously they are quite different units, as where it seems the DP32 & DP24 are very much alike, as this video aptly demonstrates. I’m thinking of purchasing a DP24 but only if the SD card is compatible with the DP32. Thanks.

That is a very good question. I no longer own the DP24, I sold it. Boy on the face you would think it would work, but I can see where it may not. I will try and find out and update this comment, if you find out, please post. thanks for the great question

Hey, I've actually heard the music from the band Neutral Earth. It's fantastic !! They have recorded albums of their progrock, and put it up on TH-cam. They are very good, and I think that Tascam should use their stuff to show what is capable. Neutral Earth is genius !!

They both can only record or mix 8 simultaneous tracks, to the “mastering product”, or to a PA system. Post-production is what you do to the raw tracks after recording them. Of course, the 32 track machine can create 32 tracks to the mastered product. A mastering product is a stereo recording that you can send to some further, post production machine, like a computer that’s running some post-production software. Both have main/monitor outputs to go to your PA in a live performance situation. 8 is the key number.

It would be so awesome if someone just made a whole solution for smaller studios. I think a lot of people would let a sigh of release if someone just made something like that. It would be super clean with minimal cables otherwise going fkn everywhere. 32 channel simultaneous recording. All the fx and utilities you would need internally. A small monitor on board and a monitor out for better overview. I know I would replace my wonky computer anytime for that, just to be able to work, instead of beeing annoyed that you have to upgrade you stuff every other month just to keep with it.

What i do not understand is how ( talking about the DP 24) you have to do to handle 24 tracks if the inputs are , if i'm not wrong, 18 . Expecially when you have to do the mixdown of each single track recorded. I apologize for my bad english. Thanks for your kind reply. Patrick from Italy

You state dp24 has 12 mono at one time, and state 20 for the dp32 as you can convert stereo to mono...
Guess which other unit uses the exact same firmware and can also convert stereo to mono...
18 mono on the dp24 vs 20 on the dp32 , obvious too... just count the faders
That said, both only have 8 physical inputs - limited to recording 8 tracks at one time

I know. I’m no expert on the subject as the units were new to me. I have learned more since and will make more videos at some point. The 8 tracks kind of sucks. Especially for mic’ing drums, but in most cases for a home studio it should be fine at least in my case it will be. I appreciate you stopping by any other in sites would be welcomed! @@stagemonkey2022 I think the brand is Zwee or Chunsheng, both chinese. Can not zoom enough on the photos i found on Google. I think Tascam had some bad issues with Neutrik connectors on some of their older models of field recorders. Like the DR 40x. But i am not shure. I am just a beginner and enthusiast with a poor budget, so i try to do my research always. Because you start buying cheap stuff and at the end of the day you end up spending a fortune trying to look for the perfect cheap thing..... life. So you say to your self i should have bought the fancy one. But if you buy the fancy one... it dies early and you say to yourself: i should have bought the basic, cheaper one. 🙃🙃🙃🙃
So anyway, .....do you think i can go pro with one of those mixers? I just want to record line level instruments.....???? I do not want to be asking record lables. Plus i think i will have a hard time looking for a record lable that i can fit in and that will like my music. I just want to produce my albums even if i havo no fans at all.
I want to quit DAWS. I think i will do better with hardware. I have some experience in the past but with portable 16 bits mixers. Software is too much bugs, and headaches. It has a lot of cons also. I can record on SD cards and use them with daws like 50/50.
I have a feeling that a new generation of economic Tascam and Zoom mixers are on their way. So i think i will end up saying to my self: you should have waited a little bit. But as far as i know 24bit/ 48khz is professional and the standard.

@@asmr6773 I like DAWS but as you know they are not portable. So I wanted to get a newer portable recorder and I thought about one of the smaller 4 tracks, but for only a little more money I could get the Tascam DP-32. I know it’s not the perfect unit, but it’s got a lot of good reviews and people have made really nice recordings using it. I thought about getting the Model 24, it’s a little more money so you could look into one of those also. I have had Tascam multitrack recorders for years and have loved them. I still have a few along with some old DAT units which by the way still sound fantastic. I love your comments and input. Thank you! I hope you find a recorder that works for you.
Honestly I have not even had a chance to use my DP 32 yet so I can’t even give you any input as of now. Life has been so busy, but I’m wanna get recording soon. Thanks again
