  • Hi guys,
Today we are working on fixing the sunroof rattle on the B7 Audi a4, but I would assume that this works for other models of Audi and probably some Volkswagens as well! Hope this tutorial helps! If you enjoyed it be sure to leave a like and don't forget to subscribe.

As someone who's watched hundreds of how tos, this is a really good one. Appreciate it.

A dab of glue of some sort to hold the clips on the sliders might be worth mentioning. Also to lube everything while it apart, especially right at the back of the rails. Otherwise the black clips will simple pop off again the first time you operate the sunroof. As I just discovered the hardest haha

make sure you make marks above the bolts before removing the sunroof glass so you know roughly where it locates going back in. I made marks and still had to adjust 3 or 4 times to get a nice even flush fit. And of course, the stupid thing still rattles every time i close my door or hit a really really big bump, but this did solve about 95 percent of the rattling above me.... i also used a very tiny bit of synthetic caliper grease to aid the plastic clips so they dont stick again or however they came undone in the first place... I think ill have to do this again at some point on a sunny day with more time than an hour. the accordians are easier to snap back in on the lower edge from the opposite side seat you are working from so you cant sort of see what youre doing. thanks for this video it was a big help.

Thank for the video. I used the same procedure to fix the sunroof rattle today. I glued the plastic clips to the sliding brackets for extra measure

Thx for the vid! It helped a lot. Sadly it popped right after fixing it🥲 probably will do again and stick the part with glue.

put some painters tape around the edges of sunroof opening and the front edge of the panel that is to be removed and that will help keep them clean.... could also wear thin gloves and just be aware when theres grease on them and toss them for a new pair. grease on headliner wont come out......

Mission accomplished...but my back needs Advil! Only feedback would be to add something about thread lock on all fasteners. The bolts had some blue stuff put on at the factory. Otherwise, as described in the video. Root cause appears to be trying to open the shade too far beyond the stops...my bad, I guess

Another thing to note. Don't try to operate the sunroof with the glass off. Seems like common sense but... I'm dumb and definitely messed that up. The left and right didn't move evenly so when I put the glass back on it was further back on one end leaving an imperfect seal. The sunroof wouldn't move either. I had to take it all apart to reposition everything again.

dont worry man i just did the front shocks and reused the rubber donut bushings on top and took it for a drive and it was clunking like a mother. ordered the new bushings and bushings for arms but have to do it all over again too..... lel
